Chapter XIX
[AN]Damn, another chapter. Very short, but I felt it needed to stand alone as a chapter before I get to the good stuff.[/AN]
Ron’s apartment smelled of booze. Cheep too by the specific scent of it. She hated what he had become. And she hadn’t even seen him yet. She followed the smell to a bedroom where she saw her red-headed friend with a prostitute. Both were fast asleep. Unsure of how to play this, she decided it was best for Ron to be rudely awakened. She cast Aguamenti on the both of them, sending a stream of water onto the bed. The whore jumped up and, upon seeing a vampire, ran out of the apartment and down the street. Ron, soaking wet, simply started blankly at Hermione.
“I see you haven’t become any more productive since the last time I saw you.”
She folded her arms as he sat up a bit in the bed. He then pulled a random bottle of something from the floor and began to swing it back down his throat.
“Well, I see you’re still a vampire. What do you want? Come to take my blood…finally.”
She smirked and sat at the edge of the bed.
“I actually came for some advice. I see now that won’t happen. I’m not here for you.”
“That’s a bit selfish, don’t you think?”
Another swig of the alcohol vicariously burned Hermione’s own stomach and she yanked the bottle from him with tremendous force. A female vampire was more than ten times stronger than the average human man, and although Hermione never demonstrated this often, she knew this fact. Having the information and knowing how to access her power helped in times like this.
“Don’t you see what you are doing to yourself? You’re throwing your life away. You could have gone into Quiddich even further, or even worked as an Auror. Instead you drown yourself in drink. You’re pathetic.”
He contemplated this for a moment, then grabbed another half-open bottle from the floor and began downing its contents. It seemed he didn’t even care what she said anymore. Or how she felt. She stood, defeated and made her way out of the room. Before she made it his voice called her back.
“What did you want advice on?”
She spun around and leaned herself against the door, not intending on staying any longer than it would take to answer his question.
“Whether or not I should be in a relationship with Severus Snape.”
One last glance more and she made her way to the fireplace. The green powder was already in the ashes and she had already stated her next destination. Stepping into the flames and facing the room she saw Ron’s face. He was nodding ‘yes’ to her. He wanted her to be with him. He wanted her to be happy. Knowing his answer was all she needed and she was sent spinning to Hogwarts.
