When Worlds Collide
Summery: Hermione is being targeted by an evil that hasn’t set foot on earth in over a thousand years. Now, she must be protected. What happens when she and her protector fall in love? R/R
Chapter 18
“Master Kenobi, you know our rules. He must face the council back on Coruacant.” One of the Jedi Masters stated as they stood outside the hospital wing.
“I understand, but there is more to this. Allow myself and Master Windu to remain here with Anakin. Once we know Hermione will be all right, we will return with Anakin. There we will present something that will explain what you all have seen.” Obi-Wan explained.
The other council members talked quietly for a few moments, then agreed. The council members then headed off to gather the Jedi Knights and return to Coruacant. Mace and Obi-Wan re-entered the hospital wing. They found Anakin sitting at Hermione’s side.

“What do you think is going to happen?” Harry asked Draco and Severus as they sat in Severus’ office with Ron.
“Obi-Wan said he will take me with them when they return to Coruacant and I will present that prophecy I found. Hopefully, it will allow Hermione and Anakin to remain together and he won’t be punished.” Severus sighed.
“What if that doesn’t work?” Ron questioned.
“Then either Anakin will be expelled from the Jedi Order or they will guarantee that the two of them will never see each other again.” Harry answered.
“But that’s not fair! They didn’t mean to fall in love! I mean you can’t help who you love! Plus that prophecy you found should clear that up right?” Ron exclaimed.
“Ron, it’s not that simple. This prophecy shakes the very foundations of the Jedi Order. The very rules they have followed for centuries. All we can do is hope that everything will work out in Hermione and Anakin’s favor.” Draco explained.

“Ow…my head.” Hermione moaned as she slowly sat up.
“Take it easy. Madame Pomfrey says you had a bad bump on your head. She wants you to stay here for a few days.” Anakin said gently as he handed her a cup of water.
“Thanks. What happened? Who won?” She asked.
“We won. The only problem is that Palpatine escaped. Harry succeeded in killing Lord Voldemort with the help of Ron and Draco. Draco actually used the Force to help destroy Voldemort.” Anakin explained.
“That’s a relief about Voldemort, but bad news about Palpatine. What’s wrong? I can see it in your eyes, something’s wrong.” Hermione questioned.
“The council knows. They have returned to Coruacant. I will be leaving with Obi-Wan, Severus, and Master Windu. Apparently Severus has found something that might help us. As for what the council’s decision regarding us is going to be, I don’t know.” He sighed.
“When do you leave?” She asked.
“Probably tomorrow since you’re now awake. The others wanted to make sure you would be all right before we left.” He answered sadly.
Hermione nodded. Anakin sat on the edge of her cot and pulled her into his arms. He only hoped whatever information Severus found would help them. Anakin knew in his heart, just as Hermione did, that they could not live without one another.

The next afternoon, Hermione was allowed to leave the hospital wing long enough to see Anakin, Obi-Wan, Mace, and Severus off. She, Harry, Draco, and Ron stood at the edge of the ramp to Anakin’s ship.
“You three take care of her for me.” Anakin instructed.
“Don’t worry. Soon, you’ll be coming back and you two will be together.” Ron replied.
“Ron’s right. I just feel that everything’s going to work out.” Draco added as Harry nodded.
“Well, we had better get going. It has been a pleasure getting to know you four. I hope our paths meet again. Hermione, don’t worry. I’m sure everything will be fine.” Mace said as he bowed to the four students.
Hermione nodded. Obi-Wan walked over and hugged her, then followed Mace onto the ship. Severus hugged Hermione and joined the others on the ship. Hermione and Anakin stood facing one another, neither wanting to say good-bye. Hermione finally threw herself into his arms.
“I love you Anakin. No matter what happens, never forget that or me.” She said tearfully.
“Never. I will always love you Hermione. Promise you won’t forget me.” He replied as he held her tightly.
“I could never forget you. Come back to me soon.” She pleaded.
“I will. I have to go.” He sighed.
They shared a searing kiss. Anakin pulled away and hurried onto the ship, unable to see her tears. Ron pulled her back as the ship’s engines ignited. The four friends watched as the ship lifted off the ground and headed off to Coruacant. All four hoping and praying this wouldn’t be the last time they saw Anakin.

A month after Severus, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Mace left, Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Draco began taking their N.E.W.T.’s. Hermione was grateful for the tests, because it kept her mind off of what was going on with Anakin and the thought that he might not return to her.
“Well, the N.E.W.T’s are done. All that’s left is to wait on our results.” Ron said on the afternoon of their final exam.
“I hope I did all right. I really want to get high marks.” Draco replied as they sat under the Beech tree.
“I’m sure you all did fine. You all followed my study guides and really studied hard. You did your best and that’s all anyone can expect from you.” Hermione praised.
“She’s right. At least now we can relax and enjoy our last few days here.” Harry smiled.
The four friends began talking about their summer vacations. Hermione would be remaining at Hogwarts until Severus returned. Ron would be going to the Burrow, but Harry and Draco were going to wait with Hermione, then head on to the Burrow.
