Chapter 16: Sanctuary
Chapter 16: Sanctuary
Later that evening:
The OUBLIETTE was packed when “boys” arrived. Remus moves through the club like it’s a second home. Ron and Neville stare at the girls dancing on the bar, while Harry observes Remus.
Remus mentions to the boys, “Watch yourselves. The inhabitants of the OUBLIETTE are a “mixed” crowd.”
Neville asks, “What does that mean, exactly?”
“This is a refuge for werewolves and vampires, not to mention other magical creatures who are not social acceptable,” admits Remus.
Ron pipes up, “Does that includes Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape?”
“Why do you ask?” questions Remus.
“Because Draco Malfoy is sitting at the bar over there,” points out Ron.
“I suppose this will be a very useful trip after all,” murmurs Remus. “You boys should not go barreling toward him now. This is sanctuary. The proprietors Colin and Malvenia have strict policies against violence in the OUBLIETTE. Not to mention they have guards everywhere and a number of anti-riot spells in place.”
Harry takes in his surroundings and says,” They have put a lot of thought into the security of this place.”
“Well…,” begins Remus, “Malvenia was a Malfoy before she turned.”
“What do you mean before she “turned”, asks Ron.
“Turned into a vampire, Ron,” completes Remus.
“A blood-sucking Malfoy, forgive me, but insert joke here,” quips Ron.
“Not so fast, Colin was a Weasley before he turned,” retorts Colin as he walks toward the group.
Not missing a beat, Ron relies deadpanned grin, “Please tell me you’re always on top of things.”
Colin starts to snicker, while the rest of the group groans and twitches in embarrassment.
Harry tells Colin, “ We don’t take him out very much.”
“Oh, but you should, Malvenia will love him!” Colin drawls. “Welcome to the OUBLIETTE. Can I get you gentlemen a table?”
“Actually, Colin, we need few things. One I need my Wolfsbane potion. And two, we were hoping for some information. And three, I see that you are providing protection for Draco Malfoy…” starts Remus.
“Remus, you know the rules, the OUBLIETTE is sanctuary for all,” starts Colin.
“Well, could you mediate,” concedes Neville.
“I like the way you think, young man. What is your name?” asks Malvenia as she slinks towards Neville and gives him her hand to kiss.
Neville takes her hand in his hand awkwardly and kisses, then refocuses, “Longbotton, Neville Longbotton, ma’am.”
Malvenia smirks and roves her eyes over Neville then proceeds to look over the rest of the boys in the same salacious manner. She and Colin exchange glances.
Colin pipes up, “We can definitely arrange something along those lines.”
