The Long List Of Things Draco Never Thought He'd Do

Chapter 19
The Long List Of Things Draco Never Thought He\'d Do

Draco was sleeping on the common room couch when Hermione entered. She had stopped by the kitchen and picked up some snacks for her and Ginny tonight. They were levitating on a large tray behind her.

Once she got the food sorted out, she knelt down and brushed the hair away from his forehead, smiling.

“Hey...” she whispered.

His eyes opened and he half smiled back.

“You know, you’re a really cute sleeper.” she said, drawing a full smile from Draco.

“I know. Can’t help it.” he replied.

Hermione crawled up onto the couch beside him, snuggling close into his arms.

“Ginny’s staying tonight.” she stated into his chest.

“Wow, really? She wasn’t my first choice for a threesome, but I suppose she’ll do in a pinch OW!” he cried as Hermione gave him a stinging slap on the arm. “So where exactly is she going to sleep?”

“She and I will probably sleep in my room or camp out in the common room, you however, will be sleeping in your room.” she stated sternly.

“What?!” he cried. “I happen to think I’ve been pretty damn patient today, but I think this is where I’m going to draw the line. I mean, I know her brother just tried to off himself, but that doesn’t mean shes -” he was cut off by a knock at the common room door.

“You can start an argument if you’d like, either which way you’re sleeping alone tonight.” Hermione gave him a kiss on the nose before, going to answer the door.

Ginny stood holding a large fluffy pillow and a set of pajamas.

“Can I take a shower here?” she asked, looking at the floor.

“Of course you can! Thats a silly question!” Hermione laughed, pulling Ginny through the door. “I’ll just go get you a towel.” Hermione disappeared into her room.

Ginny’s eyes wandered over to Draco on the couch, then quickly back to the floor.

Draco sighed deeply. The poor girl looked pitiful. Her eyes were swollen and red. She was obviously worried about Weasley. He pulled himself up and walked over to her.

“Hello Ginny.” Draco said. Ginny looked up and half smiled at him. “How are you doing, sweetie?” he asked a bit more softly.

Her large green eyes looked up at him again, this time they were glossy with tears.

“I’m okay.” she squeaked out.

Draco felt horrible. He hated Weasley, and rightly so, but held nothing against Ginny and hated seeing her in this condition.

“He’s going to be okay.” Draco said soothingly, patting Ginny on the arm.

Ginny let out a loud sob and flung her arms around his waist.

He was shocked and just sort of stood there for a moment, not sure what to do.

He glanced up and seen Hermione in the doorway, holding a towel. She smiled back at him and covered her mouth with her hand, tears brimming in her eyes too.

He had never had to comfort a female, other than Hermione, and wasn’t quite sure how to go about it. Draco reluctantly wrapped his arms around Ginny and patted her on the back.

“There, there” he whispered to her. “It’ll be okay.”

The realization that she was clinging to Draco Malfoy in the middle of the common room dawned on her and she removed her arms.

“Heres your towel.” Hermione called from the doorway.

She took the towel from Hermione and disappeared into the bathroom.

“That was really weird.” He stated. “I can add that to the list of things I never thought I would do.”

“That was really sweet.” she beamed at Draco. “I’ve never been so proud of you.”

She snaked her arms around his waist and laid her head on his shoulder, breathing in his smell deep.

She whimpered slightly and Draco felt her sag in his arms.

“Are you alright?” he asked, worriedly.

“I think I’m just tired. Maybe after a good nights sleep I’ll feel better.” she frowned.

“Alright.” he whispered, leaning in and kissing her softly.

She pulled away from him when she felt his tongue making its way into her mouth.

“Ginny is right in there!” she cried in a whisper. “Could you please contain yourself for one evening?”

“Well, since I’m being banished to my room tonight I thought I’d get my kisses in while there was still time.” Draco grinned back at her.

She smiled and leaned into his mouth again, reaching up to gently caress the side of her face.

It wasn’t long afterward that they heard the shower kick off and pulled apart.

Hermione looked at him sadly as he disappeared into his bedroom.

Ginny stepped out of the bathroom.

“Feel any better?” Hermione asked with an encouraging smile.

“A bit.” Ginny replied.

“Well, I brought some food up, thought maybe we could pitch camp in front of the fireplace tonight. You know, talk, giggle, eat until we like country music.”

Ginny giggled at this and Hermione gave a deep inward sigh of relief. It was good that Ginny was starting to loosen up.

Ginny sighed deeply.

“Hermione?” she asked lowly.

“Yes, dear?”

“I just wanted to say thank you....for what you did.”

Hermione stared at her, slightly confused.

“What do you mean?” she replied.

“I mean..” Ginny took a deep breath. “Not telling Mum....you know, about Ron. What he did. I really don’t think she could have handled it.”

“Yea, well.” Hermione hung her head. “I’m trying to move past all that. Its not good to wallow in things, I suppose. Plus, I think hes finally really and truly sorry. We had a talk before we left and he apologized. Not one of those fake ‘I’m just trying to get on your good side’ apologies. He actually, heart-felt apologized.”

“But its not right.” Ginny shook her head. “He hurt you. Just because he lost his mind doesn’t mean he should be able to slide with that.”

“Just let it go, Gin.” Hermione said softly, patting the younger girl on the arm. “I don’t think I can heal until I forgive him and I don’t think I can forgive him until you do. Now here, eat!” she said, thrusting a large piece of chocolate into Ginny’s face.

Ginny half smiled at Hermione.

The fire roared and the girls ate and giggled into the night.

To the untrained eye, you would have thought everything was back to normal, but it wasn’t.

Not even close.
