Quidditch Game and Conversations
At five forty-five Lily left the castle with a large group of Gryffindors with banners, pom-poms, and face paint to cheer on the house team. Lily had decided to stick with her house color robes and that was it. She spotted Remus and Peter making their way up the stands, as far as she knew they went to every game to support their two friends, even if Remus usually brought a book and read most of the time.
She found a seat at the very front of the stands where she had told James she would be. Looking back she saw Remus and Peter in the very back, and two of her friends squished in next to her, shoving a few second years out of the way.
“Hey,” Lily said to Melinda and Autumn. They were both her age, and had been friends all through their years in Hogwarts. Melinda was the short one of the group, only standing five foot, and was a bit chubby. Her hair was a mousy brown, and was curly, with dark chocolate eyes to match. Of the group she was the most obnoxiously fun. Autumn was the complete opposite of Melinda, she was tall, taller than Lily standing five foot eight. She was the athletic, skinny one of the group with long dirty blonde hair, bright ice blue eyes. Autumn was the more promiscuous of the group, having many one night stands, including a few with Sirius Black throughout the years. Then there was Lily, mid height, skinny, quiet, and the brainy one of the group.
“Hey,” Autumn said tucking her hair behind her ear as she rolled her eyes at a boy looking at her
“Fancy seeing you out here, you never come to the games,” Melinda said laughing a bit. They both knew the reason why she was here, and they had yet to let up on the teasing. Both of them claimed that they knew Lily liked James before she even knew it.
“Haha,” Lily said sarcastically as Madame Hooch walked out onto the field with the help of an assistant carrying the chest with the Quidditch balls inside.
Autumn adjusted as her recent fling came over taking a seat down next to her, Shawn McGregory. He was new, transferring from a school in Ireland. Lily knew she had only gone for him because of his Irish accent.
“She won’t shu’ up about ‘em,” Melinda said with a roll of her eyes as she fished around in her pocket finding her chocolate frog.
The Gryffindor crowd let out a loud roar of noise when James stepped onto the field followed by the rest of the team. Lily could not help but beam when she saw him, and even over the yells, she could hear Melinda laughing.
The team kicked off, flying around by the Gryffindor side to get the crowd going. She spotted James heading her way, and he blew her a kiss. With a blush, Lily could hear people get out an ‘aww’ around her.
Then the Slytherin team came out, and Gryffindor promptly booed them as Slytherin cheered. After a bit of flying around everyone got into their positions around their team captains. James faced Christian, the captain of Slytherin. They were glaring at one another as Madame Hooch named off the main rules, and how they needed to keep it clean. Matches between Gryffindor and Slytherin were always the most violent and dirty played games of them all, since they had such a bad rivalry.
“And they are off,” the announcers voice boomed. The game started out pretty fair, and then things began to get violent. James was knocked viciously and almost hit one of the stands. Lily felt herself tense when he disappeared, but relaxed when he was back. Of course he went for revenge, and Hooch had to break it up.
After about an hour the score was 120, 100 Gryffindor. James had scored at least seven of those goals and was being sought out by the other teams but the beaters were keeping them off him pretty well.
“I’ll be back, keep an eye on James for me,” Lily said to Melinda. She went to say something to Autumn but she was in deep conversation with Shawn. Lily needed to find a restroom, and figured now would be the best time to go. The snitch had still not been found, so the action really had not started up yet.
“ANOTHER TEN POINTS FOR GRYFFINDOR SCORED BY POTTER WITH THE ASSITANCE OF BLACK!” The announced boomed over the stadium as the crowd cheered loudly.
Lily smiled to herself as she went into the loo.

Severus had sat in the back row of one of the stands in the corner, and found Lily in the stand directly across from him. The whole time he kept an eye on her, not even bothering with the game. He had already figured out exactly what he wanted to say to her.
After about an hour, he saw her rise from her seat, just as he had hoped. He knew she was probably going to the bathroom, since the only reason she would leave was for that.
Slipping out of the stands, he made his way to the bathroom as well; he figured he would talk to her when she exited.
Standing behind a tree, he waited for the bathroom door to open, and when it did, he waited for her to walk past.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Lily,” Severus said, emerging from behind the tree as she turned around.
“Huh?” Lily said not recognizing the voice as she turned around, tucking a stray piece of hair blowing in the wind behind her ear. When she saw it was Severus she frowned, turning back to head back to her seat. “Leave me alone.”
Severus jogged after her when she turned around to walk away, “wait please, give me a chance,” he said pathetically. He hated himself for doing this, but he could not help it.
“I gave you a chance Severus!” Lily snapped turning around to glare at him. “You hurt me, and almost killed James. You don’t deserve another chance.”
Hanging his head Severus walked over to her to look back up at her again. “I know, I shouldn’t have, but I could not help it.”
Lily backed up further, unfortunately no one was around if he tried to do anything, but this time she did have her wand. “You couldn’t help using a dark arts spell? You couldn’t help but pin me up against a wall? You could have helped that, you just didn’t want to!” She was angry, but was glad she was getting this all out on him; it had been brewing for a while now.
“Bloody hell Lily, please just listen to me,” Severus said trying to control his anger that was brewing. That was what had put him in this spot in the first place.
“No Severus, YOU listen,” Lily almost spat. “Stay away from me, and James. After all I am just a stupid mudblood right? So I’m not worth your time.”
“No you’re not. I did not mean that. I was just so frustrated, every time I tried to talk to you Potter showed up. He constantly picked on me for no reason, you even said it yourself.” Severus could tell she was starting to listen to him, even if she was angry with him. Nonchalantly Severus moved a bit closer to her in case anyone was around they would not overhear.
“So why the name calling?” Lily asked noticing he had moved closer to her. She knew her friends were going to notice that she was gone too long shortly and come looking for her. Honestly, Lily did not want to talk to him, but she did want to know why he had done what he did.
“Potter picked on me for everything, I figured he would have said I had a girl fighting my battles. I know that doesn’t matter, but to him I knew it would, and the name just slipped out because I could not think of any of your flaws. I know your bloodline is not a flaw…” he stopped suddenly realizing he had strayed from what he wanted to say, and was now making a fool of himself.
She could not help herself but to ask, “why this obsession with me? I am with James, you know this. I have no interest in you at all.”
That hurt, but he already knew it was the truth, “because you were the only person who treated me like a human being, like my existence and opinion mattered. You are the most…beautiful girl I have ever met.” Severus was close to her now, but not in a threatening way.
Lily stared at him shocked, and feeling awkward in this position She almost felt she was betraying James for being here, even if she was doing nothing wrong. “I have to go Severus, goodbye.” She said backing up but still facing him.
Without thinking, Severus quickly walked over to her and tried to give her a kiss. He just wanted one, even if it would mean a smack in the face, just to see what it felt like.
She saw him coming and quickly turned her head so it landed on the side of her head. Lily faced him with a glare, and smacked him hard and square across the face. “Like I said before, stay away from James and me.”
Severus’ hand flew up to his face as he looked at her. He knew that was his absolute last shot, she had heard him out, and did not like it. He watched her walk away, and slowly turned making his way toward the castle.
