The pot begins to boil

Dean tip toed quietly past the sleeping form of one of his crew mates. The sleeping draught he had slipped in Miles drink would keep him sleeping all night, but he had been unable to administer it on a large scale. It would draw to much attention if he offered everyone drinks, and he’d surely get caught if he went around trying to slip it in everyone’s.

Miles lay passed out on the floor as if he had been walking one moment and asleep the next. Dean smiled to himself. That was probably just how it had happened. Since Miles was now slumbering away it was safe enough to leave his room and the inn. The trouble, since he had no floo powder was getting to a safe operative. The castle had spells and enchantments to prevent him entering by any magical method anyways.

He had to get back there, the news he carried was vital to the order, but to get there that meant going by non magical means. It was one of Naru’s more clever ideas. Anyone who had used magical means even if only summoning food would not be able to enter the castle.

That meant the moment he decided he was going to the castle he had to use muggel transportation. That was unacceptable, in the morning maybe even sooner they where going to know he had fled and they would be out for his blood. He knew too much not to be hunted for. Not being able to use magic was a handicap he couldn’t afford. It might just be his death sentence.

When he reached the street he pulled his cloak tighter to fight off the chill. There was an upside they wouldn’t expect him to be using muggel routes. Any sane wizard with information they shouldn’t have would either floor or aperaiate directly to their destination. Or somewhere close enough to walk if it had protective enchantments. They wouldn’t walk. He might just get out of this unscathed. First he had to get a message to Kingsley that he was out and on his way. Then he had to visit Gringots because he was out of money. He needed to get on the fastest plane out of here.

Draco had come to Hiaro’s room this morning and warned him that everything was all set and he might want to hole himself up in his room tonight. Hiaro knew this was no idle warning. Every time he and Harry got together anyone within a five mile radius was affected. And with what Draco had planed he didn’t really relish experiencing the back lash.

And as it wasn’t really safe for Harry to leave the castle they couldn’t really take it else where. And they were going to do it in the privacy of their own rooms. He’d made Draco promise not to forget scilencing charms. This was going to be rough enough to suffer without having to hear it. Draco had in no way thought what he was doing through. He was acting on impulse, something new to Draco and probably something he should never do again. He was trying to teach Harry not to be brash while being just as brash.

It would be funny if it didn’t bode so ill for him. They where both about to get burned and where going to burn their friends along with them. As soon as they started tonight he was going to be hit with that shockwave of sexual energy they liked to pass out. Last time however he hadn’t been in love with Ron. Last time he had enjoyed it because he had been with a willing partner. This time his partner of choice was completely unwilling, and would in fact be with Hermione.

The thought made him sick, and since when did he care what other men did with their bodies. That was the problem. He did care and he wanted Ron no where near Hermione, or any other woman. He frowned, or man for that matter.

“Tonight everything will go wrong.”

Hiaro turned as Hari floated into the room; she never seemed to walk like other women she glided in a swirl of white shojian robes.

“Boy don’t I know it, we’ve all warned him he just isn’t thinking.” Hiaro sighed glancing out his bedroom window. Hermione was in the gardens reading a book; she was a beautiful girl in her own bookish sort of way. He could see why Ron would be attracted. He still wanted to murder her.

“I don’t just mean with them Hiaro, cant you feel it Hiaro. Its in the very movement of the air. Tonight is a night of change and I fear not for the better.” Hari shivered slightly her head tilting to one side so that her raven hair spilled forward in a wave of black silk.

“You mean with the world outside?” Hiaro asked turning to face her. She nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“Sometimes here in the castle we forget that there is a world outside and it is moving without us. The Dark one believes that Harry is dead and will not wait long to make a strike. Harry and Draco keep proving to themselves and us all that they are not ready; they will not be for years. The time of darkness the prophecy spoke of is at hand.”

Hiaro fought back a shiver; his mother had been a great seer. She had seen all that others could not and had passed that gift onto her daughter. If Hari said it then he had no doubt it was true.

“Would you dance with me this afternoon brother, you used to enjoy Selintine.” She asked her sightless eyes that saw into his heart pleaded with him.

Selintine was a Shojian dance that young girls practiced for their wedding nights. The males where also taught their part but most of the movements where for the female. Hari would most likely never get her chance to dance it. Her blindness was an imperfection most lords would not tolerate in a wife. Shoja was a hard country and you needed your eyes. They where all fools, Hari saw far more then any of them did.

“Why are you always so filled with guilt Hiaro, I do not blame you. It is you who blames you, you carry an unnecessary burden.”

How anyone could be so forgiving was beyond him, he took his sisters slender hands in his own and placed a kiss on both.

“You are too good for any of us Hari. It would be my pleasure to dance with you.”

It was worth it to watch light enter her eyes and her smiles bring sunshine to the room.

“I’ll be waiting for you in the garden in an hour’s time. I must dress first”, He watched her glide merrily from the room. She was so utterly beautiful how could no one see that? He couldn’t help but feel that if Hari had her eyesight the men of Shoja would be hammering at his father’s door for her hand. He had ruined his sister’s chance for a husband and family of her own with his foolishness. The least he could do was dance with her.

Sirius had just finished his lunch when Severus sauntered into the room with his usual daunting flare. He really was the most incredibly sexy being alive, Sirius thought to himself. Life with him wasn’t easy, no never that but it was the happiest he’d ever been.

“Do you always have too look like doom is only minutes away Severus?” Sirius teased. He didn’t think they would ever really stop trying to nip at each other, in an odd way it was part of their characters. In the privacy of their own room however they made sure too sooth over any stings their words had caused.

The important thing was that he loved Severus and that he hoped he knew it. He didn’t know if Severus felt the same way. It was easy to sleep with someone and even get along with them moderately well. That didn’t mean you loved them. Sometimes he worried about that but he refused to think on it too deeply. If Severus was using him then, oddly enough he was more then willing to be used.

“Do you always have to act like doom isn’t possible? Kingsley just sent a message. Dean has vital information and is on his way back here. Only this time he didn’t have permission to go. He’ll be hunted after” Severus snapped a bit on the agitated side.

This was not good for Dean; he would be restricted from using magic and would have all of London’s death eaters plus his ex crew on his tail.

“If he gets caught will he crack?” it was insensitive but needed to be dealt with. It was always a risk when an operative was taken hostage by the dark lord. If Dean was caught, and right now the scales where tipped towards that end; then they needed to know if he would spill. And what he would spill to their enemy.

“Thomas was always tight lipped when it came to his friends. I knew it was Seamus who put that exploding snap in my potions cauldron but he insisted that it was him. But it won’t matter there are spells that can make even the strongest wizard talk.” Severus pointed out.

Sirius nodded, a heavy gloom descending on him, he really liked Dean. There wasn’t any sense of giving up hope but the odds where not in the boys favor. And Seamus, what was he going to do. He looked up and Snape was nodding as if he could read his mind.

“Seamus is going to be a wild card. He might prove to be a Gryffindor and do something brash. He could endanger all of us and get himself killed in the process. My suggestion is to send him back to Ireland until this all blows over.”

Sirius narrowed his eyes. “You mean not tell him?”

Snape nodded. Sirius blinked at him.

“You mean not tell him that the man he loves is probably going to suffer, spill his guts then die. Are we just going to forget to mention this when we send him away? What are we going to say when his body shows up somewhere? Oops it must have slipped my mind?” Sirius demanded standing up in his seat.

Snape didn’t back down, he never did he just gave Sirius a look like he was about to explain something difficult to a very small, and slow child.

“As soon as he knows he’s going to go after him. Then we’ll have two operatives with information to leek to the Dark Lord. We’ll loose them both instead of just one; sometimes you have to be a little jaded, for the common good.” He reasoned.

“Yeah you would think that wouldn’t you! What if it where me damn it! If it where you and Remus kept it from me I’d kill him. Seamus loves Dean! He deserves to know.”

“Wars are not won with love Sirius! The dark lord does not care how much we love, he will murder and enslave us all anyway! He does not care that Dean has a mother that loves him and someone waiting for him. Dean will die a terrible death, or even worse if some death eater takes a fancy to him he will be enslaved. And if you tell that boy, no matter how much he loves he will share his lover’s fate.” Snape snapped.

Sirius flinched. This was the part of Severus that he had never been able to tolerate or understand. The difference in their natures, He wanted to tell Seamus. Seamus was as close to a spouse as Dean could ever lawfully get, they might be married even now if the law would let them. Seamus of all people deserved to know. They should be ordering a rescue crew, sending in someone to find him. Where Sirius responded with passion to an issue Snape was always cold reason.

Which was better and which was the right decision was debatable. Right now he just felt hopelessly like things where spiraling downwards and out of his control.

“Sirius…” Snape reached out to put a comforting hand on his shoulder but Sirius swatted it away.

“Don’t touch me please; I just need to be alone.”

Snape stared at him, Sirius looked away he didn’t want to see any hurt. There was going to be so much of it to come. How could Snape think so little of love, love to him was more important then breathing. He’d given up everything for it. He’d risked everything for it. Snape treated that like it was nothing.

“Fine, but if you care anything for him you won’t tell him. For his own sake, and for Deans”

Sirius watched stonily refusing to turn around and watch Snape leave. He heard the door open and thought that Snape had left when he heard him say from the doorway.

“If it where you Sirius I wouldn’t care about anything, I’d tell the dark lord anything he wanted to know. I’d hand him my soul if he wanted it. That’s exactly why he can’t know”

Then he was gone.
______--------______-------______-------_______------_____------_____---------____----

Harry was walking in a state of euphoria. He’d never felt this excited before, about anything. He knew now for certain what love actually was. It was waking up and feeling like this! Was it possible to dance on air, right now he felt as if he could. All day he had walked around with his head in the clouds.

All his life he had carried the weight of destiny on his shoulders, but here in this place it was lifted, gone. He couldn’t’ even stop to be disgusted with himself because Draco was on his mind all the time. Who cared, he didn’t. He never felt safer then when he was with Draco.

It amazed him how wrong he’d been about Draco all these years. Draco was anything but cold; he treated him with respect and honored his opinions. He didn’t use him like a tool and he never hurt him. No matter how much he got angry Draco was… Draco.

If he could dance without looking like an idiot he would. He knew he looked a lot like Seamus did when he was thinking about or looking at Dean. A sparkle in his eye, a knowing grin on his lips, he radiated pure confidence and satisfaction.

It had been a long day and the sun was just starting to set. He was heading up to their room right now. He felt a tingle go through his spine, was their anything more perfect then love? He practically skipped up the stair case. It was odd that after so many years of animosity that at this moment he felt as if his lover could do no wrong. Nothing Draco said or did was enough to drive him away. Draco was the one person he trusted with his heart. A heart that was thumping in his chest with anticipation, he would have once thought himself a fool for trusting a Slytherin and former death eater with so vital a part of himself. He couldn’t seem to stop it, he just didn’t want too fight his feelings anymore.

And he was happier for it.

“Harry?”

Harry was so lost in his own emotions he nearly walked right passed Hari. He did manage to stop and blushed. Although she couldn’t see Hari always seemed to know. A sad little smile was on her beautiful lips as she gazed sightlessly in his general direction,

“What is it Hari?” He asked.

She glided forward her bare feet soundless on the stone floors.

“He doesn’t do it to hurt you. He has been hurt, you hurt him.” She whispered. She was so beautiful standing there one slender hand tracing the planes of his face.

“Hari what are you talking about I never…”

Her fingers brushed his scar and suddenly white hot pain speared his forehead and images where flickering in his mind. In all of them Draco lay sprawled and broken on the ground. Eyes always cold and sightless in their death, It couldn’t be! Draco was upstairs. Alive. No he was dead, he could feel it, he knew it with everything in him! Harry tore away from her a great hole of grief opening inside him threatening to devour him.

He fell backwards onto the cold floor.

”Harry? Are you alright, what’s happening.” Draco’s worried voice sounded in his head. Just the sound of his voice closed the wound Hari had torn in his soul. He breathed a sigh of relief and gathered himself to standing to glare at her.

“Why did you do that!” he demanded. He wanted to hit her, he’d never felt anything like that! Even when Ginny had died he hadn’t felt as if she was taking him with her. As If without Draco everything in him was gone, hallowed and destroyed.

“So that you would see what it was for him to watch you die! You care nothing for your own life and he must live that pain every time you do something foolish. Go now, and I hope that the both of you can learn to care more for the other then you do your own pride.”

She seemed to float away barely moving her feet. Harry shivered.

Dean breathed in a sigh of relief as he got off the muggel bus. He was only a block from the nearest air station and could from there fly to Japan. He had been dodging death eaters all day and could feel the noose tightening.

He had sent the message to Kingsley and hopeful they would be expecting him. With the way things where going he’d be arriving with Death eaters on his heels. He gripped his wand in his hand, a useless gesture being as he wouldn’t be able to use it. It made him feel better. All the way to the station he felt as if eyes where watching him, as if in moments the place would swarm with death eaters.

He thought of Seamus, his smile the way he laughed. The words he’d said just before he left, what they where both fighting for. Oddly enough they fought for a world with no tolerance for them. Their love was considered wrong and therefore they where not allowed what every other human was allowed. He couldn’t walk into a church take Dean’s hand and make them one.

Did he need a ring and a big ceremony to feel married to Seamus no, did they deserve to have one if they wanted one yes. There was something in that ceremony of gathered friends and family, of having the world acknowledge that your love was like all love. Something beautiful. Instead the people they fought for spit on it.

That never stopped them, it was what was right and they both hoped even if they had to wait years that one day they could walk down the isle together. As partners, as husbands. They’d often talked late into the nights about the children they would adopt, again if the law would let them. It was the dream of a house by the woods with a yard full of kids that they both fought for.

And it was coming to an end. Even as he approached the air station he knew for certain he was being fallowed. If he used magic he would close himself off from reaching the castle. If he didn’t he would probably die right here.

They where so close, he could feel them.

It was better to turn and fight, if he had to die he was going to do it fighting, he gripped his wand and thought of Seamus.
