Chapter 14

Narcissa was working in the nursery in Severus’ apartment at Hogwarts’ when an owl appeared.

It was a summons to Gringotts...

Narcissa went to dress and left a note for Severus before travelling by house elf to the bank.

She was met promptly by Griphook who was also the custodian of the Black estate that was legally Harry’s.

“What business had you summoning me Griphook?” Narcissa asked stiffly.

“Young Master Potter, a letter and a contract have been revealed regarding the young heir. It is addressed to you. Come with me to my office Lady Malfoy.” The goblin bank officer said gruffly

Narcissa followed the goblin into a office and as soon as the creature was seated behind a desk, it pulled out a letter sealed with the Potter seal.

“Lady Lily left this for you with specific requirements for it to be opened. If a courtship for Harry was ever seriously discussed or if someone other than his legal guardian as listed in their wills tried to fill a betrothal or worse a bonding contract.” Griphook snorted.

A letter from Lily Potter? Well that was unexpected...

 

Narcissa,

If you’ve received this letter then you are my only hope...

Someone is trying to file a contract for Harry, James didn’t know but I already wrote a bonding and betrothal contract. Severus and Remus already signed then thinking it was a copy of my will, please sign this as a secondary witness and file it with Griphook.

Remus imprinted on Harry as his mate soon after Harry was born, I couldn’t tell James but I knew that we wouldn’t survive the war. So I already wrote a contract and its dated so no other contract is valid. Harry is already betrothed, so all that is needed is to file the bonding contract.

Help me protect my son Narcissa, we were prefects together and both of us were Andromeda’s patients. I beg you, don’t let Albus manipulate Harry into a loveless marriage. Remus will protect him and they already had a special connection.

Narcissa asked for the contracts and skimmed them before requesting a quill and ink to sign the bonding contract.

She smirked, “I would like a copy of both contracts but the originals must be filed with the bank of course.”

Griphook nodded, “Pleasure doing business with you Lady Malfoy.”

Narcissa took the copy of the contracts and placed them in her robe pocket along with the letter from Lily before excusing herself from the goblin’s company.

She immediately had Stria return her to Hogwarts where she summoned elves to move Draco’s things to Severus’ apartment and had Remus’ moved to Harry’s.

The Ministry wouldn’t dare argue with the last words of their heroes would they?

The contract between Draco and Harry had never actually been written so what contract was Griphook referring to anyway? Foolish, she had been so enthused about having an easy solution to the Remus-Harry situation that she failed to ask.

Severus knew about the relationship between Harry and Remus so why would he be trying to file a contract?

Someone was going to be in a lot of trouble...

Narcissa knew something was amiss but she wasn’t going to borrow trouble just yet...
