Chapter 17: Training begins.
Harry was awoken by a shaking of his body. He was slowly coming out of a terrific dream where a certain blond had his tongue wrapped around his...
"Harry, wake up, you have to look at this"! Draco exclaimed.
"Whazzup, what"? Harry groggily replied as he finally sat up and looked at Draco.
"Your scar Harry, look at it"! Draco said as he conjured a mirror and handed it to Harry.
Harry took the shiny silver mirror and held it up. He looked intently at his scar, thinking that it would still be the same monstrosity he had always carried. He saw at once it wasn't. "Draco, did you have something to do with it"?
"No Harry, I think it happened as we consummated our bonding. I wonder what this means"? Draco asked as he looked both happy and then worried in the same instance.
"I'm not sure Draco, let's get up and go find Remus, maybe he'll know". Harry said as he summoned his glasses from the bedside table. The glasses launched themselves into the palm of his hand like a bullet, stinging from the impact. "What the hell"? Harry exclaimed as he placed his glasses on his nose, then shook his hand.
"Did you just mean to do that Harry"? Draco asked worriedly.
"No, I just summoned them like I always have. They generally just float slowly to me". Harry explained, a pained expression on his face, as he thought about what just happened.
"Come on, get dressed, it's early yet, and Remus should still be downstairs". Draco replied as he got out of bed and proceeded to dress.
After Harry dressed, he followed Draco down the stairs, and into the large sitting room of the hunting lodge. Remus was laying back on one of the couches reading a book. Both boys noticed he wasn't looking too well. He would be changing when the full moon was out and it was very close.
"Remus, have you had your wolfsbane this afternoon"? Harry asked, as he was truly worried about his parent’s best friend.
"Yes Harry, I have, but I always get to feeling under the weather when the change is this close". Remus explained as he closed the book, and set up on the couch. He looked at the two boys who had forgotten to fix their hair. Both had a look like they had just had a three-day long shag. He couldn't help but grin at this, as he knew they had consummated their marriage. "What's up you two, I see you look none to worse for wear since you went upstairs this morning"? Remus finished with a chuckle.
"Eh, yeah, we're both fine, couldn't be better actually. Remus, have a look at my scar and tell me what you see"? Harry asked as he parted his hair away from the scar on his brow.
Remus squinted, as he looked the scar over. "Hmm, when did this happen"?
"I noticed it when I woke up and then told Harry about it. When he summoned his glasses to him, they flew like a bullet off the night table. It's like another block has been removed from his powers, and his scar has changed to where it looks almost healed. What could this mean professor Lupin, I mean Remus"? Draco asked, truly concerned over Harry.
Remus thought about this for quite a few moments before he answered. "There are two scenarios that I think could have happened. One doesn't bother me and is in fact good. The other is good, but it worries me. The first possibility is that with an increase in your powers, you may have came into your power inheritance early over the bonding. This extra power could have been enough to block out Voldermort more, and caused the scar to lesson by the link lessoning. However, when Voldermort was weak, and nothing but little more than a ghost, the scar looked the same as it did before this happened. The second possibility makes me cringe to think about. I have been thinking about this ever since you found out about the horcruxes Harry. There's a possibility that Voldermort was going to create another horcrux the night he tried to kill you. When the killing curse backfired on him, a small portion of his soul may have ripped free, and having no place to go, and from Voldermorts initial thoughts of creating another horcrux, the soul portion attached itself to you Harry, making you a horcrux that was unintentional at the time, as the spell wasn't actually performed". Remus gravely finished waiting for Harry's explosion.
Harry set perfectly still for a moment, then jumped straight up off the couch startling Draco. "You think I was carrying a piece of that sick, twisted, abomination around inside me all this time"?! Harry shouted, and then started pacing the floor in front of the large fireplace.
Remus looked for all the world that he was so very sorry to have to tell the 'still child', in his view, this. However, he had come to the conclusion that Harry needed the truth, and that he would not keep anything from him again. He new Harry had now grown up, and for the good or the bad, he would answer him truthfully.
"Yes Harry, I think the second scenario is closer to what has happened. I was just reading about a spell to determine the color of auras, and can show anything attached to the body like a spell, or another soul. If it is OK, I would like to try this, and then we can talk"? Remus hesitantly asked.
"Er, yeah, sure, go ahead, I trust you Remus, you know that". Harry calmly stated. He knew Remus wouldn't hurt him, not intentionally.
Remus nodded then cast the spell. Harry glowed a vibrant bright gold hue. Remus noticed that he had nothing close to his surface like a spell, or in this case, a piece of ones soul. He then cancelled the spell and then thought about what he was going to say for several minutes.
"Harry, it shows that you are completely clean of any spells, or anything like a soul attached to you now. If I'm not mistaken though, I still think a piece of Voldermorts soul was attached to you. During your bonding at the bank this morning, as soon as it was finished, and you kissed Draco, I noticed something peculiar. As the light started to dissipate, a small puff of black smoke arose and vanished. I could have sworn I heard a high-pitched whine when it did. Did your scar burn at all during the ceremony"? Remus thoughtfully asked.
"Er, yes, it did Remus. That's why I had to set down for a moment after Snape left. I felt a little dizzy also, but put it off to the excitement that had just happened because of our visitor". Harry eagerly explained.
"Harry, I thought I seen the same thing after we uh, well you know, earlier, after we got back and went upstairs". Draco said with a thoughtful look on his face.
"When we did what Draco, what happened when it did"? Harry asked, really wanting to know.
Draco coughed as he opened his mouth and tried to explain. He was terribly mortified at having to answer this in front of Remus. "Harry, that's personal"! At Harry’s glare, Draco went on. "When we came Harry, is that good enough"? Draco finished with a huff, his face turning red as a beet.
"Oh... OH! Harry exclaimed as he himself turned red too. "What does this mean Remus"?
"Harry, my theory is that the oldest magic there is was at work here. Sex was used in magic rituals as long back as it has been recorded. It is one of the strongest types of magic known. It has to do with love Harry, or sex magic performed with love. There is a room in the Department of Mysteries that studies love, and nothing but it. I think that when you bonded at the bank, it was not quite strong enough to rid you of that piece of soul that was unintentionally given. That piece was then torn in two, and the torn half was destroyed. Then, after you came home, and the bonding was consummated, the remaining piece was destroyed. That could explain the increase in your power too, especially if that piece of soul was purposely trying to hold back your power. If that is the case, you should get another boost when you reach seventeen. How much, I'm not sure. However, the bonding also could have caused you to receive your inheritance now. One way to find out would be to test Draco's magic, as his would have increased also". Remus explained to both young men. He knew that he was going to have to quit thinking of them as boys. "Draco, would you care to do a little test"?
"Yes, I can do that. What kind of test Remus"? Draco quickly enquired. He was willing to do anything to help his husband.
"Well, I just put a couple of new logs in the fireplace for tonight. Could you cast the incendio charm as you always do, with the same strength, and thought behind it you always use"? Remus asked the blond young man who was staring at him with all the inquisitiveness in the world.
Draco stood up from the couch, took out his wand, aimed it at the logs, and said "Incendio" with a level voice. The logs burst into flame with a height that went on up into the chimney. "Well, that's new. The flames should have just leapt about a foot above the logs". Draco then cast a smothering spell to put out the fire.
"I think you both have received your inheritances. That is also the reason you both passed out and slept for several hours. Do you both feel kind of stiff and sore"? Remus kindly asked.
"Er, yeah, I do actually". Harry stated as he worked his shoulders.
"I do too, but was just thinking it was from the way I slept. I also have a slight headache". Draco commented as he rubbed his temples.
"Well, that explains it. Those are the symptoms of receiving your magical inheritance. I would say that it's possible that you could have even grown an inch or two by the looks of it. That explains the soreness you feel in your bodies". Remus explained, as he looked both boys over. "I think we need to check Harry's magical powers out also. No not right now Harry"! Remus said as Harry started to aim his wand at the fire. "We don't want you to burn the house down now do we"?
"Er, no". Harry said as he embarrassingly grinned. "What do I need to do"?
"Well, let's go out into the back yard, shall we"? Remus said as he got up and headed to the back door that was in the kitchen.
The three wizards made their way outside and onto the back lawn. It went approximately one hundred feet deep before it came to the timbers edge. Remus walked about mid way and placed a stone on the ground about the size of his fist. He walked back to both young men and turned to look at Harry.
"All right Harry, try casting a simple 'Bombarda' spell on the stone and see what happens". Remus explained.
Harry took aim with his wand and cast the spell, "Bombarda"! The spell that exited his wand was like a stream of pure bright red, and it traveled quickly and hit the stone. The explosion was tremendous. Where the stone once lay was a smoldering pit about eight feet in diameter and about four feet deep. The stone was disintegrated into nothing but sand. As the dust cleared, Harry turned to look at Remus and Draco, his jaw agape, and eyes wide. "Er, I think I did it".
"Yes, yes, you did it all right, now, how are we going to fill this hole back in". Draco commented with a chrotle, while shaking his head.
"I'm just glad now that I stopped Harry from casting that incendiary spell in the house"! Remus exclaimed with a loud bark of laughter. "I think you need to lean to control your new power, along with Draco, Harry. Both your training will officially start today"!
Both Harry and Draco turned to look at each other. They both had extra wide grins upon their faces. Harry held his hand up above his head, and Draco playfully gave it a swat with his own. Their total attitudes about the upcoming war had just been elevated to the extreme. For the first time in a long time, Remus Lupin had hope in his eyes, as unshed tears began to show.

Severus Snape hadn't been back in his office no time when a silver cat flew into his office. He knew exactly who that patronus belonged to, Minerva McGonagall. He wondered what was so urgent that she would send a patronus to him in the castle. As soon as the thought left him, the cat came to a halt on top of his desk, looking him in the eyes as it opened its mouth to speak.
"Severus, you're needed in the main hall at once. It's Albus, and he's been hit by some dark curse. His right hand and forearm looks black, and dead. He said to only get you, and to hurry"! The voice of professor McGonagall emanated from the cat, before the silvery form disappeared.
Severus quickly got up from his chair and raced out of his office for the main hall. As he got to the steps leading out of the dungeon, he encountered Peeves the Poltergeist.
"The old man is dying, he is, he is! We can replace him with the Bloody Barron, I hope so, I hope"! Peeves cackled as he began to throw some ink bombs at Snape.
Snape quickly brandished his wand and set Peeves clothes on fire. What good it did, he didn't know, as Peeves couldn't be burned. Peeves only remark was to stick his tongue out at Snape, blow a raspberry at him, and wave his middle finger in the rudest way.
Snape hurried around the foul Poltergeist and ran up the steps. He found out that he wasn't as young as he was once was when he reached the top. Holding the stitch in his side, and gaping for breath, Snape made it to Dumbledore and McGonagall. Dumbledore was still passed out on the floor, and McGonagall was still kneeling beside him. Snape quickly surveyed the damage to Dumbledore's hand and forearm, and then began casting counter-curses under his breath. He had seen this form of dark magic before, and there was no cure for it. As a matter of fact, one could only slow its pace before it ultimately ended in death. He quickly levitated Dumbledore up off the floor after he cast the last spell, and headed to the infirmary with him. He would then have to retrieve several potions to feed the old headmaster to slow the curses action down. He would be on these every day until his untimely death.
As soon as Snape had lay Dumbledore down in a hospital bed, he awoke. Dumbledore looked into Snapes dark brown eyes and mumbled out his orders where the others couldn't hear. Snape turned and started to leave when McGonagall stopped him with a question.
"Shouldn't we send him to St. Mungo's Severus? The board of governors will have to be informed of this in case something happens to Albus". McGonagall gravely commented.
Snape turned around on his heel and glared at the head of Gryffindor house. "What, already wanting to receive your promotion Minerva"?
McGonagall frowned at Snape. She had had enough of his bitter words, and decided to set her foot down. "Severus, I will say this only once, and once only. My intentions are only for the best, and what I said goes along with the school rules, by-laws, and it's charter. You WILL do as I say, as I am now the acting HEADMISTRESS until Albus is well enough to continue his work. If you do not act accordingly, I will do what you most fear, and you may well be trying to find a teaching position at Durmstrang. Lord knows Beauxbatons wont have you. Your only other option would be to go and brew potions for that thing, since I know how you so enjoy doing it"! McGonagall finished with a sneer that would have made Salazar Slytherin proud.
Snape opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, not being able to get a word to come out. He then spun on his heel, robes billowing, and left the infirmary to retrieve the needed potions. His blood was boiling at McGonagall’s comments, 'the nerve of her', he thought to himself. 'Fire me will she, well who would teach all those pathetic students potions then, her? If anyone should be Headmaster, it should be I', Snape thought. He would bring the school into the much needed order it should have, and would expel several students, mainly the golden-boy himself. Snape snorted at the irony in this, burst into the potions cupboard in his office, and started filling his pockets with the needed phials and bottles. On his way back out, it hit him, he needed to tell the Headmaster about Draco and the Potter whelp. With this in mind, he hurried back up and out of the dungeons towards the infirmary. As he stormed down the corridor leading to the infirmary doors, his dark mark began to burn. He disregarded it, he had to treat Albus first, or he would end up dead.

"I have called you here today, my loyal followers, for a mission". Lord Voldermort, the self-proclaimed lord wheezed out. "A great act of magic has been performed, and I want to know what it was, and who done it"! Voldermort finished as his throat still burned, and he looked at the circle of death eaters in front of his throne.
"My Lord, what about our plans to bust out the others in Azkaban"? A death eater named Clemments asked, when he stepped forward, bowed, and kissed Voldermorts feet.
Voldermort looked down at the death eater and thought for a second, then hissed out, "You question my motives Clemments? You think I do not know what is the most important"?
"No my Lord"! Clemments exclaimed with a grimace on his face. He was well aware of what was coming; he had had several cruciatus curses from his lord before.
Voldermort quickly pulled his wand an aimed it at Clemments, " Avada Kedavra "! Voldermort yelled in his high-pitched but now raspy voice.
The sickeningly green light burst forth from Voldermorts wand at Clemments, who had an expression of startlement on his face, before he was consumed with the green light. The other death eaters seemed to freeze at this. What was on their lords mind that he acted in this manner over such a simple question?
"Pick this simpleton up and dispose of him"! Voldermort hissed out as two death eaters came forward, and dragged the body out of the room.
"You will all begin to look for the source of this magic at once! Needless to say, I will not take no for an answer. I want to know if that old fool at Hogwarts, or somebody else did this. I think he is the only one capable of it beside myself, but I need to make sure. I need to be informed of any changes, especially concerning the Potter boy. We will still be meeting here at nine this evening, as we have a little call to make on the village of Somerset who has been harboring some wizarding families in hiding. It will be my little payback for the magic that hit me today! Bellatrix, Rumgallin, stay here, the rest of you may now go, and don't let me see any of you until nine this evening"! Voldermort ordered to his toadies.
"My Lord, what can we do for you"? Bella asked as she bowed before her lord with a sickly look of enjoyable glee in her eyes. Rumgallin looked at her as if she was completely unhinged, but kept his expression hidden from the Dark Lord.
"Bella, Rumgallin, you will go and retrieve two of the giants. Have them at Somerset tonight at nine. I want to test their loyalties, the Gurg's son especially. Make sure to get him there above all the others. If he proves out, the Gurg may send us others to use in the upcoming war". Voldermort hissed out as he looked out the window to his left.
"Rumgallin, congratulations on the Brockdale bridge, it was a masterful piece of work"! Voldermort hissed again as he looked around to his newest death eater. The Brockdale Bridge was his trial to see if the man had what it took to kill muggles. Voldermort was pleased, as it had sent a dozen muggle automobiles plummeting to the river below. "I need to set to work on getting the rest of my followers out of Azkaban. I am in need of the services of my most loyal, Lucius Malfoy. He knows the politics of the ministry better than anyone, and I do not know what we're up against with our new minister, since he was the chief auror. I am looking to break them out within the coming week".
Bellatrix had to turn and stare at the wall because of her lords comments. She despised Lucius Malfoy, as he took up the time she could be spending with her most beloved. Oh, she knew very well that Lucius would drop his drawers for her lord at any given notice. She was terribly jealous, and she did not like her lord’s cock being sullied by her sister’s husband. 'That's all right; let Lucius do it again. I'll see to it that his little Drakeykins ends up dead if he keeps on interfering'. Bellatrix thought. Finally, she turned and left the room her lord sat in, and headed out to do his bidding with Rumgallin following behind her.

"Remus, come here and let me show you this spell we found". Harry said as he began to open the lock box that he brought from the bank. Inside was the very old book on memory charms he had found in one of the vaults. He opened it to the page and waited for Remus to read it over his shoulder.
"Harry, that spell may help us win the war if it will work and not damage the one using it. It makes me worry about the shear volume of memory the spell would displace by adding the contents of book after book into ones mind. I'm not sure how healthy it would be to even do it using one book". Remus stated as he thought about the implications.
Before Remus could do anything, Harry placed the book down on the coffee table in front of him, flipped it open to the first page, placed his hand on the paper, and incanted the spell. The book glowed for a moment, and repelled Harry's hand. Automatically, the pages fanned by at a lightning pace until the last one flipped over, the book closed, and finally stopped glowing. Harry set there for a few seconds, staring off into space. He finally came to himself, and immediately raised both hands to his temples, rubbing both. His head hurt, but not as much as he'd had it to before. He shook his head for a moment, and suddenly the knowledge of the entire book seemed to easily flow through his mind. It was as if he had a photographic memory, and could recall every word written. He could remember the name, description, spell, and wand movement of each and every memory spell that was included. It was just simply amazing, he thought. At this, he turned to look at Remus, who in turn was frowning at Harry.
"Harry, don't you ever do something like that again, do you hear me! That was dangerous, and it could have damaged you mentally"! Remus scolded.
Draco looked at his husband, angry at first for net telling him what he was going to do, then it hit him exactly what spell he had used. "Uh, Harry, did it work"?
Harry looked from one to the other, and a huge grin spread across his face. "I can not only remember every spell in any book, but I can now selectively obliviate anyone, or do any memory spell that was in this book. I remember everything, word for word"!
"Yes, but how do you feel right now"? Remus asked in a parental tone.
"I'm OK, really, just a slight headache. I think I could easily do another book today". Harry replied enthusiastically.
"No pup, no more for you today. Let me try this next, and if I am all right afterwards, I will allow Draco. I think we should wait to see if there are any side effects the next day before we try any other books. If there aren't, then by all means, we will learn the complete library we have here in front of us". Remus levelly replied. He then tried the spell for himself, just as Harry had. He set back in his chair and waited. As soon as he seen what the results were, he made a motion for Draco to try it, with a small grin upon his face.
Draco, being a Slytherin, was slightly nervous. When it came to something that could be ill for ones health, Slytherins would generally bow out gracefully. However, seeing that his husband, and his husbands adopted uncle, had came through the experience unscathed, he jumped in feet first. Once the spell had finished, and he saw that he could call up all the information on memory spells, he was utterly delighted. His first thought was about all the advanced potions books he could memorize. He could surpass Severus Snape as a potions master easily with what knowledge he would gain. What might take Snape months to look up, he would have at the tips of his fingers. Then, the thought hit him about what he was supposed to do.
"Guys, I just remembered, I'm supposed to go down in the cellar this afternoon, and clean out the potions lab. I have to get it started today so I can start brewing Remus's wolfsbane potion. If you'll excuse me, I'll take my leave. I'm feeling well, no after effects, so I don't mind doing it". Draco remarked as he made to leave the others company.
"Er Draco, do you need my help"? Harry asked, although he really wished he could stay away from anything concerning potions.
"No Harry, you stay and chat with Remus. I'll be just fine. They're some things down there that you shouldn't be around, and I know how to take care of. Your better off up here, and I'll call Nod to help me. I'll be back up in a few hours". Draco said as he finally left the other two.
Harry was glad he had gotten out of that like he did. He then turned to look at Remus who was watching the young blond open the cellar door. "Hey Remus, how would you like to watch a good movie"?
"A movie pup? How will you manage that"? Remus asked clearly intrigued with the idea.
"I bought a combination telly with a DVD and VHS tape player built in. I also bought a few movies and some music. Let me go get them from my room, and I'll be back down to keep you company"! Harry said before he rushed upstairs to retrieve the backpack he placed everything in.
It didn't take long before he was back downstairs to see that Remus had already brought in some popcorn, and several bottles of butterbeer. He quickly set everything up, and put in a movie about some teenage wizards from the States. They both dug into the popcorn; opened themselves a cold bottle of butterbeer, and the movie began.
Thanks again for all the reviews!
Darkalli: The part about Vernon and his bowel accident was one of myfavorites to write!
Kurai: Sadly, all Dumbledore realizes is that he screwed the pooch himself. He still has rather dark plans for the end.
shinythiefxblast: Yes, Harry was a horcrux just as in canon. This time however, I had a more creative way of ridding him of it. It did take two tries though ; )
hieisdragoness18: Sadly, all Harry destroyed was one that day, two total in his life. Dumbledore destroyed number three.
tjmj14: Thanks for the compliment! If I knew an agent would look at my work, I might actually try to write something in the future.
Ali-chan: Thanks, it will get better as it goes along. After this chapter, things will start to speed along more.
