So I dub thee 'unforgiven'

And the bunny is still going strong! Third chapter in a day!

Oh, and in response to one reviewer, Snape didn\'t rape Harry. Dubious consent, yes, rape, no.

Chapter Eight: So I dub thee ‘unforgiven’.

It was in all the papers the following morning. Even The Quibbler carried an article, although its view was, as always, slightly skewed. Harry didn’t want to read what the Prophet had to say, not after their earlier article which had so angered Ron. He knew that paper would have sensationalised the outcome, like it had sensationalised all the other aspects of the case. He had read the Prophet’s articles, as they were usually quite amusing, but toady, he just couldn’t take their pompous indignation, so he turned to The Quibbler.

THE VERDICT

As readers of this paper already know, Severus Snape has long been waiting his turn in the courtroom. Some of us at
The Quibbler were eager for him to do so as we were sure he would reveal the truth about what happened – namely that he acted as he did due to Doxy poisoning. What he had to say was even more dramatic!

Snape has long been a mysterious figure, but at last the reason for his single status was revealed as he himself announced he was in love with Harry Potter! He said his “obsession” began when Potter – who has also had his share of speculation over his love life – started his final year at Hogwarts. Potter is said to still be recovering from his capture, and he and his friend Ron Weasley are not expected back at the famous school for some time.

It seems clear to the staff here that Snape is actually suffering from a Trogladyte Induced Addiction. TIA, as it is known, occurs when a person sees another in a new light and is unable to reconcile what he once knew to what is the truth in front of him. Snape showed classic symptoms of the curse, as he had clearly lost weight, had a husky voice, and seemed a little dazed when asked to speak.

Perhaps some on the jury were aware of the condition, and this influenced their verdict. After six hours of deliberation (during which Snape continued to look very dazed) they returned with a split result.

Of the 25 members present on the jury (only the most senior have been allowed to judge due to the severity of the trial) 15 voted that Severus Snape was to be cleared, and 10 decided that he was guilty.

This, in effect, means that whilst he is exonerated, he has not been completely cleared – much like a similar case only last year in Bulgaria when Owen the Odd was accused of beating his neighbour’s dragon over the head with a turnip – and as such will not serve time in Azkaban, but will be expected to fulfil certain conditions for the rest of his life to ensure he is not a danger to anyone else.

Just where he will be allowed to live is still open to speculation. Vera Clayhope, a close friend of Snape’s commented, “It seems most likely that he will be taken to Hogwarts – whilst this is a place full of children, he can also be protected and watched there. Of course, he has lost his job, and will never again be allowed to teach, but Sev was never really interested in teaching, rather it was the creation of new potions which fascinated him. This punishment might turn out to be a blessing for him!”

It could be that the jury knew this when it came to its decision. It would be interesting to know just how many jurors were students at Hogwarts, and have been taught by Severus Snape!

Harry felt something akin to panic well up in his chest. As he was always beginning to do when his emotions became too much to cope with, he reached for the knife by his side and sliced carefully along his arm. He lapped at the crimson liquid, feeling the delicious throb in his cock. It was only when blood flowed that he became aroused. He moaned softly, his voice catching in his throat when he heard a thump at the front door.

A near by jumper was quickly tugged on to hide his wound, and he moved cautiously to the door. The location of Grimmauld Place was still known only to a few.

Peering through the peek hole he recognised Hermione’s bushy hair.

“Harry?” her voice was low and urgent, “I wanted to check you were ok. Can I come in?”

It took him only a few seconds to unlock the door and open it. She slid through the tiny gap and into the hall.

“How do you feel? A-about the verdict?”

He shrugged, aware of fluid sluggishly trickling down his arm. “I don’t know. I haven’t had time to think about it.”

He led the way, not into the sitting room, which still had its blood stained knife on show, but instead to the kitchen. He busied himself making a pot of tea whilst she settled herself and rattled questions at him.

“Do you think he’ll be kept somewhere under ministry guard? How will they monitor him if they don’t? Do you think he got off too lightly?”

Harry suddenly longed for the silence of his house. He understood that Hermione meant well, but he was so used to his own company now.

“I think he’ll end up at Hogwarts,” he replied, voice a little hoarse at the thought.

“Oh no!” she sounded dismayed, “No, not when one day you’ll be going back there to finish your education. Won’t you?” she added, a dangerous quality in her voice.

Again Harry shrugged. Exams and qualifications seemed so unimportant.

Silence fell. Hermione seemed to have nothing more to say, and Harry rather liked the quiet.

“Ron seems a little better,” she offered carefully, after the silence had gone on for over three minutes.

“Oh.” Harry’s voice could not have been less enthused.

“I’m sure he’s sorry about what he said,” she began.

“Are you? I’m not.” Harry felt anger well up in him, and let it consume him, it felt so good to feel something other than pain and anguish and self-loathing, “I think he meant every word, Hermione.”

She chewed on her lower lip, wanting to deny what he had said, but too honest to be able to do so.

“He … just … oh Harry, he was hurt so badly by Malfoy.” Hermione’s eyes were filled with tears, “I – I know you were too, but he was tortured. All the time you were with Snape, Malfoy was torturing him. And when Malfoy was with you, he still tortured Ron. He had to stand in a room with sharp spears and knives sticking out of the walls. He was in there whilst Malfoy was with you. He couldn’t move, couldn’t do anything. He told me he wet himself cos he couldn’t hold it in any longer, and had to just stand there, it trickling down his leg, never knowing if he would ever be let out. And that was one thing he did tell me. He won’t share the rest.”

Harry was sorry for her, he really was, but his next words were still cutting. “Last time I checked, Malfoy was locked away for what he did. Snape’s still out there.”

She bit back a sob. “Harry, please. He needs a friend.”

“Then you be it!” he snapped.

“You need one too.”

“I don’t. I’m coping just fine.”

After that, Hermione realised that Harry wasn’t going to make the first step towards healing the rift between him and Ron. She stood, thanked him for the tea, and left.

Thank god! he thought as he rolled up his sleeve and reached into the kitchen drawer for a knife.
