A Werewolf and his cubs.
Harry was told that he was moving into Remus' quarters after he was already packed and Remus was well on his way to getting the room that would be his finished. Tonks frowned at Harry’s lack of belongs as she closed and shrank his trunk.
"Harry… where are your other things? Games, Wiztracks, all of that?" Tonks asked with an off-handed voice, even though she was fairly interested. Harry looked to Tonks and frowned a bit. He had quit his foolish crying a few seconds after they had come in and hadn't fallen back into it yet.
"It's all in there."
"That's… it? Where'd you leave everything else?" Tonks asked, trying to hide her shock.
"Well, that's it… everything I've got. Even my drawing of Hedwig." Harry said, pointing to the inked art piece of parchment plastered to the front of the trunk. Tonks frowned.
"Well, let's go. We'll remedy the belongings problem later... hop to it!!!" Tonks said with a smirk as she marched behind Harry, out and down near Gryffindor Tower.
"Hut-Two-Three-Four! Move those legs, Harry!! We've got less than three minutes before Remus decides we're taking too long. Then he'll come looking for us."
Remus had set the house elves loose in Harry's soon-to-be room. One house elf, Bobby or Bolly or Bodly or something like that, seemed more them happy to be doing the job, so Remus let him take over.
Remus had owls to write and wanted them done and sent off before Harry started settling in. He was finishing the careful wording of three letters. The first was to the head of the Department of Control of Magical Creatures, who he and Tonks were on good terms with. This letter was to inform him that he was legally claiming Harry as his cub, and what had happened with Draco Malfoy. Remus made a point to state that he was going to refuse the bond on behalf of Harry and that Malfoy hadn't started any courting at all anyway, so any claim was null and void.
The second letter was to Draco Malfoy, informing him of the same. Except with a much, much harsher wording and very specific and detailed threats.
The third letter was to Narcissa Malfoy herself; this one was much akin to the one he had sent his old friend. He was more tactful, including a request to come to Hogwarts. He wanted them both together to get a hold on Draco as soon as possible, and help straighten this out.
Remus sighed as he sealed the letters and summoned another house elf to take two of the letters to the owlery, and mail them as soon as possible, then take the third directly to Draco Malfoy himself.
His work for the moment done, Remus laid back in his chair and allowed himself to look to the left of his desk, where a sleeping Teddy Lupin was now napping under the watchful eye of his father… and a Nanny elf. But even as he looked at his peaceful son, his mind was on his other charge.
The godfather of the child in front of him... Harry.
How had he allowed this to happen to him? Why didn’t he see what was coming? No, why didn't he stop it?
Harry was one of the most important people in Remus' life. And he had foolishly stepped aside and let Harry fend for himself. Remus couldn't get over the feeling that he had failed James… and Harry... horribly.
Now he had to help Harry. He was going to help Harry fight this every step of the way and fight for him where he could.
Remus was going to fix his mistake and make Draco and Severus pay for theirs.
NO ONE was going to touch his cub... NO ONE.
Pansy, Blaise and Draco were in quite a state, Draco being the worst of the lot. Not only had be been rejected face to face, but he had been sent a letter directly from Professor Lupin that stated that Draco was not to even lay eyes on Harry without his consent. Draco had rarely ever lost his composure, but in the past half hour he had cried more than once, screamed over and over, fallen into a heap on Blaise’s bed and a sofa and then scared the entire common room with a flaring of Aura that sent Nott racing back up the stairs until Millicent could convince him that it was safe to come back down. Draco now sat in the largest sofa in the common room reading it over and over and Blaise and Pansy buzzed around him.
And the fact that Blaise and Pansy where now both cursing Harry as if he was the lowest life form on the plant wasn't helping.
"I can't believe this. They PROMISED they were going to talk to him!!"
"Oh, they talked to him all right. Talked him out of it!! FUCK!!!" Blaise said, back-handing a stack of books on a corner table across the room. Pansy flinched to herself and crossed her arms as her boyfriend continued his assault.
"Well, what are we supposed to do?!! We kept our side of the bargain." Blaise said.
"Hell if I know." Millicent said softly from her place in Nott's lap. Nott and Millicent seemed to the only ones watching Draco, a noticeable frown on both of their faces. They knew that it was never going to work out between Harry and Draco, but they had hoped that Draco wouldn't have taken it so hard.
Rejection from a crush was harsh enough, but rejection from a mate? Theo's frown fell even more as his sighed and wrapped his arm around Millicent. For once, in all of the years Theo had known Draco; from all the snarking comments, cold tricks and silent hate, he had never felt bad about anything that happened to Draco. But now, for once, Draco had Theo's sympathy.
"What are we going to do?... I tell you want we're going to do, we're going to find all three of those bloody bastards, and then I'm going to Hex them All!!" POTTER FIRST!!!” Blaise said as grabbed his wand.
Ignoring the screams of protest as four Slytherins jumped to their feet behind him, Blaise stormed out of the common room and rushed down the hall.
