Chapter 17 First Date

Chapter 17 First Date

Three weeks later, Hermione had given some ground to the father of her child. She had agreed to go out on a date with him. Her friends were much more excited over this event than she would like, as were her parents, who had agreed to watch DJ, insisting that they keep him overnight so the couple could stay out... or in.... as long as they liked.

Against Hermione's will, both Jess and Ginny came over to help her get ready, Ginny having stopped at Draco's to pick up the outfit he had bought for Hemrione to wear that evening, not telling her where they were going or how to dress for the occasion. When they opened the garment bag, both Ginny and Jess were flabbergasted, having never seen their friend wear anything even remotely as sexy as the outfit in front of them.

Hermione, though, let out a small laugh through an amused smile as she looked at the black lace demi bra and matching thong, the tight white button down shirt, the short red skirt and the knee high boots. Her friends looked at her curiously, thinking that the woman who had only recently gotten her old figure back would be horrified.

"Unless you two want to see me naked, I suggest you wait in the living room while I change," she told them, still chuckling under her breath. The two women gave each other looks that clearly said they were worried about their friend, as they didn't think she would even consider wearing such clothing, but they both compliantly left the room.

Five minutes later, Hermione entered the living room, clad in the outfit, her hair silky straight, her only makeup a bit of mascara and lip gloss. She walked to the middle of the room and spun around fer her friends, who were gaping at her. "Hermione Granger, you need to button that shirt up higher," scolded Ginny, "or better yet, put on a bra that you can't see through the shirt."

Hermione gave a short laugh. "Sorry, Gin, but this is what he wants me to wear and how he wants me to wear it. Now I only wonder what he'll be wearing.. and, of course, where we're going."

Jess stood up and walked over so she was standing directly in front of Hermione. "Who are you and what have you done with Hermione Granger?"

"Well, I suppose that that's the point. Draco Malfoy wants to meet Hermione Granger. This is what I was wearing when Jared Hansen met Aurora Bennett." Jess just stood there gaping, while Ginny was doing more of the same from the couch. "Now, if you two would leave, he'll be here soon."

Fifteen minutes later, Draco appeared on her doorstep, a bouquet of daisies in his hand. He was also wearing the same clothing from the day they met; an untucked white button down shirt and a light color khaki pant. On sight of her, his mouth twisted into a smirk, and he followed her into the house while she accio'd a vase from her grandmother into the living room, placing the flowers in it.

After telling her how she was far more beautiful then the last time he had seen her in this outfit, he held out a pair of men's sunglasses to her. Shortly after touching them, she felt the tightness of the portkey as it engulfed them. When she let go of the sunglasses and Draco placed them into a breast pocket on the shirt, she saw that they were standing in front of the restaurant they had met at in Boston.

"Mister Malfoy, I do hope that you aren't intending on recreating every bit of our first night together," she told him in a mock-stern voice.

"Only in my dreams, Miss Granger, only in my dreams," he replied as he held out his hand. Once she placed her smaller one on top of it, he threaded their fingers together and escorted her through the doors. After verifying their reservation, they were brought to a part of the place she had not seen before. It was a back room, large and dimly lit with colored lights around the room. They were led to their table, next to a window that overlooked the harbour, the building in the way becoming transparent.

Their conversation over dinner was more light and jovial than most of their conversations, talking mostly on work and their friends, as well as their son. They both felt like they were connecting with each other on a level that they hadn't since before Hermione had left. Right now there were no obstacles to overcome, no reason to fight. It was just the two of them having a nice night out.

After the main course was finished and they were waiting for their desserts, Draco got up and led her to the dance floor in the middle of the room, sweeping her along to the big band music that was coming from the men on stage. While neither knew how to swing dance, they spun around to the music, light on their feet, each enjoying the laughter and smiles coming from the other.
