Chapter Seventeen
Disclaimer – JK Rowling created the stuff you know
Chapter Seventeen.
It had started to rain slightly as the two of them left the club arm in arm, laughing they made their way back to Cat’s flat ducking under awnings along the way.
“Thanks for letting me crash here tonight” the blond said to her as she unlocked the front door.
“That’s the fourth time you’ve thanked me. It’s no problem, besides I have an ulterior motive” she laughed maniacally for dramatic effect.
“You always have” he said with an exasperated look.
Once inside she lit the gas fire and cast a silencing charm on the room.
“You know I’ll never get used to that shit”
“Yeah, I know” she curled up in a battered old armchair as he unlaced his boots.
The two discussed the club for a while before the young man waved her quiet.
“Enough of that, who is he? What’s his name? Tell me everything”
“What makes you think that it’s got anything to do with a man?” she said, not doing a very good job of suppressing her grin.
“Because I know you, Cat. So come on, give me the whole gory story”
Stuart was the only one of her muggle friends who knew both sides of her, they had been practically inseparable since they met about twelve years ago, gaining somewhat of a reputation in the circles they socialised in as a pair of hell raisers. She could tell him anything and she knew he wouldn’t judge her in any way. His parents had disowned him when they found out he was gay so he knew only too well how it felt to lose your family and had been a brick for her when she lost hers.
“Oh well, if you insist……”and she launched into the past weeks events.
“Oh... my... god” Stuart exclaimed “you lucky bitch. Your own personal Alan-a-like”
“Tell me about it” Cat almost squealed “and I get to spend a lazy Sunday with him. Speaking of which….” she glanced at the clock “shit, it’s gone five o’clock.”
Her friend nodded wisely “I was waiting for you to realise, as always you were to busy talking”
She cast him a disparaging look. The train she was planning to catch left at seven thirty and it would take about an hour to get to the station. There would be no time to sleep before she had to leave.
“Just jump in a shower, get yourself sorted. I’ll sort out coffee and stuff. Do you still have some of that nifty potion stuff that wake’s you up?”
Of course pepper-up potion, there were two vials in the kitchen drawer.
“You are an absolute angel, Stu”
“I know, I know” he muttered as he headed into the tiny kitchen.
The potion had kicked in by the time she had got to Kings Cross, thankfully. She took a seat on the empty train and turned on her walkman smiling. A day with Severus, Stu was right, she was a lucky bitch. She passed the journey listening to music and daydreaming happily about the man she was heading towards. She arrived back at Hogwarts at midday and dashed up to her room to dump her stuff before she all but ran down to the dungeons.
