Chapter XVII: Meeting the Lord

Chapter XVII: Meeting the Lord

09/24/1996
Lucius was flying at top speed, and so were Draco and Potter behind him. When he had just seen Potter with Draco, he had been dumbfounded. His son had betrayed him in every way he thought possible and he would make him pay even a higher prize than the one he had in mind. They wanted to chase him around? So, be it. He would lead them to the Dark Lord.

The sun was already up, but being seen was no longer an issue since all there was beneath him was plain water. He had stupefied Hera to make her stop screaming, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to kill her before he took the boys to Voldemort, otherwise they would stop following him and attack him later. Oh, how he wished to “accidentally” drop her in the ocean an let her drown and be eaten by aquatic creatures…

Salazar Slytherin’s castle was soon visible. He looked over his shoulder and checked if he was still being followed. Potter and his son were extremely close. Right where he wanted them to be.

‘Curabitur et libero!’, Lucius bellowed and the doors opened to him, letting them all go through in a dash.

‘What the fuck is this place?’, he heard Potter ask.

‘Probably, the last place we should be in…’

Lucius got off his broom and run into the main room, where a Death Eater meeting was being held, just like he thought. Dozens of hooded heads turned to him and then directed themselves to the whooshing boys. Even though their faces were concealed, he could feel the anger in the Death Eater’s eyes. There was obviously also shock, fear and even some excitement, but it was the anger that made him freeze as though he was the one that had just walked into a room where people wanted to see him dead.

‘Potter! Get him! Knock him down!’, the inhuman voice of the Dark Lord rang over the noise that had suddenly filled the room.

Curses and hexes flew from one side to the other and Draco was hit by one of them, making him fall to the ground. Potter dodged them all with incredible grace, but when he realized Draco had been knocked down, he got down on his own with his wand prepared for defence and even attack if anyone tried to go near the blonde.

‘Surrender, Potter… There’s no escape this time’, Voldemort hissed as he strode slowly towards him. ‘I knew your stupidity would eventually tighten the knot around your neck. How did you do it, Malfoy? How in Salazar’s name did you drag him in here?’

‘I happened to find a devilish creature both him and my son are very fond of’, Lucius said looking at the stupefied Hera.

‘And exactly who is she?’, he asked without taking his eyes of Potter, his wand aimed at him as well.

‘A very unlucky squib who will die very soon, Master’

‘Lucius! Isn’t she your… daughter?’, Parkinson asked disbelievingly.

‘Daughter?!’, the Dark Lord asked. ‘Since when do you have a daughter?!’

‘She’s not my daughter, Master. I had a daughter a long time ago, but she died when she was just a baby. This… freak is not related to me at all.’

‘YOU LIE!’, Voldemort yelled.

Lucius suddenly panicked. Lying to the Dark Lord was a death sentence. He was beginning to feel very nervous and realized he had killed himself when he entered the room with Hera in his arms. He had dug his own grave after all that time trying to escape his early announced death.

‘You lied to me, Lucius? After all the things I’ve done for you, you couldn’t trust this to me?!’, Parkinson yelled.

That strange feeling he had got when he burst into the room returned to him. All that anger was now directed to him and he would be extremely lucky to get out of there conscious. He could see his Master’s intense fury in his narrowed snaky eyes and in the effect it caused to Potter, who suddenly fell to his knees from the pain in his scar.

‘Kill him’, he said dryly, and his words were immediately followed by Parkinson’s Killing Curse that hit him right in the chest.

Lucius couldn’t even count how many people he had killed with that curse, but until then, he never knew how it felt. He had never experienced what it felt like to have your life stolen from your body. His eyes widened, but his sight faded slowly into an immense blackness that swallowed him whole. He could feel himself falling backwards, oh so slowly… he felt how the air caressed his figure as he fell; how his long hair fluttered like a silky flag around his face. And he hit the stone floor. He wanted to scream from the pain, but his body no longer responded to his commands.

The sound of his heartbeats had become so necessary when he no longer had them. His chest begun to hurt terribly when his heart stopped pumping blood to the rest of his body, and he just couldn’t wait until his brains stropped working for the lack of irrigation so he wouldn’t feel the rest of his death. He felt like his lungs would explode if he didn’t breathe. The pain begun to expand slowly and when it became absolutely intolerable, his silvery eyes flickered. Of course, no one noticed it, but in that instant, everything Lucius had ever done flashed in front of him. The murders, the deceits… every crime he ever committed returned to his memory to punish him during that last second before the blackness became absolute and the thin string that held his soul inside his body was cut.
