Lioness
I was just so excited that I'm able to sit down and write my chapters. This next one I hope will be better than the lasts. I went back and edited all of the older chpaters. They should make more sense. If they don't, just let me know. I'd be happy to fix them. Alright now on with the show.

Chapter 16- Lioness
After the incident with Draco in the Common Room a week ago, Hermione had been getting the strangest vibes from the Slytherin Head Boy. She would catch him sneaking glances at her in Advance History of Magic with Professor Binns. Minding her own buisness copying down notes that may become usuful for an up coming test, she could see from the corner of her eye how he would just seem to study her. She was flattered and a little creeped out.
Ginny had told her how she, Hermione Jane Granger, fancied the Prince of Slytherin. She laughed. Sure he was smart, and had his good days. Like a few days ago when some older Slytherin boys were pushing around a couple of first year Ravenclaws, he stepped in and broke up the teasing. Or even better, when someone had put Luna's shoes up on the rafters again, he levitated them down for her, being that her wand still wasn't repaired from the war.
Even stranger was his mother. Mind you Mrs. Malfoy was being a doll, letting her come by to pick up books that Hogwarts library didn't satisfy her need for knowledge. Which is where she was today. Sitting in Malfoy Manor Library, having tea sandwiches with Mrs. Mafloy herself.
"Hermoine Dear?"
"Oh, yes. I'm sorry. Dazed off. You were saying?" Hermione asked politely. Really, what was up with this family lately. Before you know it they would be going on holiday together or something. She smiled warmly at the older witch. It didnt' help that she always looked better than her. Soft blonde hair, warm baby blue eyes, and her dress. Simply divine. Hermione almost wished she was wealthy enough to buy cloths like that. Mind you she wasn't poor, not by a long shot. But there was no way she had the amount of money that the Malfoy family had. She had a soft pink dress that came just below her knees. Pearl like, or what may acutally be pearls, buttons adorned the capped sleeves and down the plunging neck line. Ruby stud earings adorned her ear lobes, and off white heels on her perfectly manicured feet. This women surely made Hermione feel insignificant.
"I was saying that Draco's birthday is coming up. Nineteen you know." Mrs. Malfoy smiled brightly. She never thought she'd see the day that her only child would age so fast. Seemed like only yesterday that she told her late husband of their expecting child.
"Nineteen? I thought he was turning eighteen?" Asked Hermione.
"Oh, no. The boy, well man, will be nineteen on the fifth."
"Thats tomorrow Mrs. Malfoy." Informed Hermoine. The months have just been rolling by that even Hermione was having trouble catching up with dates. But surely his birthday wasn't tomorrow and she was just telling her now.
"I know. I'm throwing a party. You are ofcourse invited. Your friends too. Its not everyday that a Malfoy takes the throne."
"Draco is becoming head of the house?"
"Oh, why yes dear. Every generation, the child who becomes nineteen first becomes the head of the house. Doesn't matter if the father is still alive or not."
"Why so young?"
"Back in the old times, people didn't live as long so, naturally, the children were given the title of head of the family before they actually became an adult. Customs my dear with Pureblood families." Stated Narcissa. She stood up from her arm chair and called for Argentum. Stepping out of the silvery smog, the house elf bowed to its Mistress.
"My lady."
"Argentum, be a dear and go get Draco. I believe he's in the study in the west wing."
"Right away."
"So what do you say Hermione?" asked the elder witch.
"Oh, I don't know Mrs. Malfoy..."
"Narcissa dear."
"Narcissa. Draco and I aren't exactly, best pals. I don't think, he would want me there on such an important day." Blushed Hermione. Really. Did this women not see how much her and her son didn't get along?
"Nonsense. Besides I invited you. Not Draco. Ah, here he is now."
And there he was, the Prince himself, stepping in through the doors of the Malfoy Library. He always seemed to be dressed the same, yet everytime she saw him, Hermione couldnt' help but look.
"Hello mother. Granger." Draco drawled, kissing his mother on the cheek. Sitting down next to Granger, he took a tea sandwich and bit into the corner. "You called?"
"Oh yes, I was just telling Hermione about your little party tomorrow."
Hermione turned and looked at Draco, almost expecting him to laugh out loud at his mother's open inviation to her. Surely he would, wouldn't he?
"Hm. Yes, should be fun. Do wear something, magical eh Granger?" Draco said, finishing his sandwitch. "Do you have something for tomorrow?"
"Well, no. I'm afraid that I don't. How, fancy are we talking here?" questioned the Gryffindor. Draco turned to look at her and smirked. Not the evil smirk from his younger years, but one that was almost playful.
"Very indeed. Mother. Maybe you could pick something out for Granger then? Would must be back to school. Proffessor Snape only has his floo network open for so long." Standing to his full height, he waited for Hermione to follow before desending to the fire place. "After you Granger." Nodding for her to go before him, he watched her say good bye to his mother then step into the green flames. Seeing that it was empty, he turned to his mother. "What are you playing at mother?" he asked with a smile.
"Oh, nothing dear. You go on. I must go shopping for our guest for tomorrow night. Behave. And don't do anything I wouldn't do." Kissing him farewell on the cheek, she watched her only son, follow the Gryffindor girl.
Back in the Head Common Rooms, Hermione waited for Draco to come back from Snape's office. Surely he would tell her that he didn't want her to come. What was she going to do in a room full of pureblood Slytherins? Not feeling her Gryffindor courage she slumped down onto the couch and waited. Then, hearing the door protest on its hindges, Hermione stood up to see Draco walk in.
"Look, Malfoy. I know how important tomorrow is for your family and all, so I'll just owl your mother in the morning telling her I'm sick or something." Watching his face for what seemed like forever, she saw a smile creep onto his face.
"Contrary to what you may think Granger, I want you to come. See how you handle the lifestyle of Purebloods. Its not easy." Stepping up closer to Hermione, he leaned his mouth towards her ear, "Plus, I'd love to see what my mother picks out for you to wear." Letting his warm breath linger on her skin, he pulled back to see her eyes, smoked with a heated expression. Smiling, he kissed the corner of her mouth and said, "until tomorrow my little lioness."
