Champion of Angels: Chapter 15

Tashio Mansion: Tokyo Japan

It had been just two weeks since Kiba had brought Harry to Tokyo. Moreover, he was having the time of his life. He had met Sesshomaru’s wife or mate. In addition, two of his kids or as they were called pups. Harry had been wondering what Kiba had been doing since they arrived, because he hadn’t seen her after the first week.

“Bored Pup?” Came the amused voice of Toshi, Lord Tashio’s second son, as he walked into the library where Harry was currently looking over the books.

“A little, Where’s Kiba, I haven’t seen her in a week?” Harry whispered as he turned slightly toward him.

“Doing a job for my Sire. She’ll be back today or tomorrow, little one.” Toshi announced with a sly smirk. He couldn’t get over how cute this little one was.

“Ok, Can you tell me what kind of job?”

Toshi blinked, he wasn’t sure how to answer that. At least not in a way that wouldn’t scare the little one. “What do you know about Kiba, pup?” Toshi asked as he seated himself on one of the recliners.

Harry frowned, he really didn’t know much. “Not much, I know she’s has a mastery in Potions and one of her parents’ is a Vampire. That’s about it.”

Whistling Toshi motioned for the boy to sit. Once the boy was seated across from him, his face turned serious. “That does not help me much in answering your question. However, I will try to give you what I can. Kiba was not Alexandros’s biological child; she was adopted before she was nine. She is what is termed a prodigy child. I see you know what that means, so I’ll move on. Kiba has more Masteries than my Sire has pups. If you want to know what in, you’ll have to ask her.” Toshi stopped shortly as to let Harry absorb what he had been told.

Harry was speechless; he knew he looked like a gaping fish. “Wow!”

“Indeed, anyway when Kiba was around 15, my Sire decided to begin training her to take out contracts. Do you know what I mean by that?” Toshi asked as he looked into those emerald eyes.

“Are they like for business deals? You know buying into a new business or a share.” Harry asked in confusion.

Toshi’s eyes widened at Harry’s answer. It was so innocent that he had this urge to protect him from the world. “Not exactly, little one. THis contracts are called Life Contracts. Do you know what those are?”

“No,” Harry replied with innocent eyes.

“There’s no easy way to explain this little one, so I’ll be blunt. Kiba is my Sire’s Assassin.” Toshi stated blandly waiting for Harry to scream and throw a tantrum.

“She kills people?”

“When the contract calls for it, little one.” Toshi answered feeling a bit like kicking himself for getting into this with someone so young.

“Is it legal?” Harry whispered, he wasn’t sure how he felt about Kiba being a murder. However, he would wait until she was there to answer his forming questions.

“Yes, all Assassins are registered and licensed for various Countries. Moreover, at times the Ministries even call one in to help track and kill. Harry, you need to understand that Assassins don’t always have to kill. That’s not the only thing they’re used for.” Toshi explained as well as he could.

“Ok, I think I understand. Ah, I’m going to go lay down.” Harry spoke quickly as he hurried from the room.

‘Baka, you should have let me explain things to my charge Toshi-kun.’ Hissed Kiba as she merged from the shadows.

‘Well why didn’t you?’ Toshi narrowed his eyes at Kiba, not in anger but frustration.

Kiba just shrugged before leaving the room without another word. She needed to check on Harry and now that the boy knew of one of her secrets. She was going to have to explain it.

Harry’s Room

Harry shivered, as the temperature seemed to drop again. He was just about to find another blanket when Kiba walked in. He didn’t feel so bad when she shivered as well, before casting a warming spell on to the room.

“Harry, I hear Toshi’s mouth ran away with him today. Do you have any questions for me?” Kiba asked as she sat on the edge of the bed.

“Do you like killing people?” Harry whispered

“You have to understand Harry; a Life Contract is just that. When a Life Contract is taken out on someone, it is usually because of a blood debt gone unpaid. Alternatively, retribution on someone that has killed someone’s relative in cold blood. So yes, I killed those types of people and I don’t lose sleep over it. Would I kill a child or someone that hasn’t caused harm, the answer is no.” Kiba explained warmth and smiled softly when Harry’s eyes seemed to light with understanding.

“So you only kill the bad people.” Harry asked with innocents.

“Yes, Harry just the bad people.” Kiba stated with finality, before covering him with another blanket hoping he would sleep for a while. She was tired from the last contract and still needed write up the report for Lord Tashio.

“Good!” yawned Harry as he nuzzled into his pillow drifting off.

Sesshomaru’s Office

Sesshomaru was going over some marketing reports when his goddaughter walked into the room. “Why the long face, it was only a week of tracking, Kiba.”

“Toshi has a big mouth. He told Harry what I do on the side as an Assassin.” Kiba remarked as she collapsed into the chair in front of his desk.

“How did the pup take it?” Sesshomaru asked as his golden eyes narrowed.

“Surprisingly well, after I told him I only kill the bad people. He doesn’t need to know everything about a Life Contract Uncle.” Kiba smirked

“Indeed. When is his blood adoption ceremony? I know it is soon, because my mate keeps dropping hints about another god-child.” Sesshomaru asked as he filed the next report away.

“July 3rd at 2pm, at Tashio Academy.” Answered Kiba as she went to glance through the open contract reports.

“Alright Kiba, stop being nosy and go get some sleep. Your mock duel is at the beginning of August you know. So there will not be anymore Contracts for you.” Sesshomaru stated before waving a clawed hand toward the door.

Kiba nodded in understanding before leaving her Uncle to himself. She wanted to sleep anyway, so she headed back to Harry’s room to check in on him before hand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next several weeks went by quickly for Harry and Kiba as he was prepared for the ceremony. Harry hoped that with new blood, he would heal completely and by the way, Kiba was acting so was she.

“Not long now Harry, before you become my brother again in blood.” Whispered Kiba, not knowing that Harry had slipped into the library. She turned sharply at the gasped behind her. “Oh shit!” she hissed at noticing Harry had been behind her.

“What did you mean by again? My sister is dead. That’s what the Prophet said and my soon to be ex- parents.” Sniffed Harry as he stared at one of the only people he had come to trust and feel safe around.

Kiba moved to gather Harry into her arms and was glad that he didn’t try to move away from her. This was one conversation she didn’t want to have this early on. Now would have no choice. So holding on to Harry, she sat down and began her story.

Telling him of the time, she lived in the Orphanage. Then the day her Father’s came to adopt her. Telling him about her own blood adoption ritual as well as her time in Tashio Academy. Not going into detail about her Masteries and the like. However, everything she felt he could handle at this time. In addition, when she was finished, she waited for Harry to speak.

“You really are my sister. Nevertheless, why did you let our parents and everyone think you’re dead? I don’t understand. Were you ever going to tell me the truth?” Sobbed Harry into her shirt, holding on to her like a vice.

“Eventually Harry, I would have told you. I just didn’t think that it was time yet. I wanted a new life Harry and when I was adopted, I got one. My blood was changed, my appearance, as well as my name. Yours will change as well after the ceremony. I’m sorry little one I didn’t want to cause you pain.” Kiba explained with sadness, she really didn’t want Harry upset or hurt. Moreover, that was the main reason for her deception. At least that was what she was telling herself at this point.

“Don’t leave; I don’t think I could handle losing you again. When my parents told Hayden and me, it was awful. By that time my parents had already be ignoring me. It hurt to think I could’ve had someone be there to help me when I was sick. “Harry stated piteously as he continued to hang onto Kiba as though she were a lifeline.

“Don’t worry Harry, I’m not going anywhere. You’re stuck with me for the rest of my life and yours. And I promise you Harry that you will live a long time.” Kiba stated with determination as she began to rock her brother to sleep.

AN: The next chapter will be the adoption ritual and more of Harry and Kiba learning about one another. Until next time.!!
