Chapter Sixteen

In bed together that night, Albus and Scorpius couldn’t keep their hands off each other. It wasn’t even sexual as much as the fact that they literally could not stop touching. Albus was on his side and Scorpius was spooned behind him, petting Albus’s hair with one hand and his chest with the other. Albus was running his hands up and down Scorpius’s arms, kneading the muscles with his fingertips. The entire length of their bodies were so close together that you couldn’t have slipped a piece of parchment in between them. And they were reflexively twining their feet together continually.

And Scorpius had his cock deeply buried inside his boyfriend. But the only indications were the minute movements of Scorpius’s hips and the fact that they were both breathing a bit more heavily than usual. Scorpius didn’t want to move away from Albus far enough to thrust, so he was mostly rocking, keeping their bodies fully in contact.

And he’d purposely chosen this position because he knew that if he could see Albus’s eyes, he’d never be able to finish. He’d start crying like a little girl, which would totally ruin the mood.

As it was, they’d been at it for a while. However, for once, Albus wasn’t impatient. He seemed content to just be like this, as closely linked as two people can be. Albus’s had slid over his bicep and Scorpius could feel the ring on his hand, which he refused to take off, even to sleep.

Scorpius smiled. The day had just gotten more wonderful after his proposal. His mother had insisted on having a celebratory dinner, which of course everyone had to stay for. Everyone present had promised not to tell any other relatives of the news just yet. Scorpius and Albus were going to the Potters’ tomorrow to join in their Christmas celebration with the Weasley clan, and they planned to announce it to all of them.

Scorpius was looking forward to the additional celebration. He loved seeing Albus so happy and so full of pride. Albus was such a romantic. No matter how much the idea of marriage appealed to Scorpius, it made Albus even happier. In fact, he’d spent nearly the entire evening talking Astoria’s ear off as they began making tentative wedding plans. Whenever Albus looked at Scorpius for confirmation, Scorpius told him that he could plan whatever he wanted. The ceremony wasn’t as important as what came after. The marriage, the family. Their careers. Children.

But for Albus, the joy of being asked, of being wanted as a mate for life, was the real attraction, at least for now. Scorpius was already excited about going back to school and seeing the attention that Albus was going to get. Which is one of the main reasons that he’d chosen to propose while they were still in school.

He wanted to show every one of his former friends and sexual partners that Albus was more special to him than they could have ever hoped to be. After everything, Albus deserved it. He’d spent years in the shadows, when he deserved a bright light shining on him, announcing his worth to the world.

Scorpius rocked his hips a little faster. Albus deserved everything that Scorpius could give him. He inched his hand lower on Albus’s stomach until he could wrap it around the boy’s hard cock. Albus moaned. Scorpius began wanking him, slowly at first, but picking up speed before too long.

When he felt Albus’s internal muscles clench around his cock as he began to come, it sent Scorpius over the edge as well. He finally rolled away from Albus, exhausted, but he kept his hand on his boyfriend’s hair. Scratch that, his fiancé’s hair. He grinned.

Albus had rolled on his back, too, and he saw Scorpius’s face. “What’s funny?”

“Not funny, just… Incredible. I just referred to you inside my head as my fiancé for the first time.”

Albus grinned back at him. “I can’t believe it’s real!”

“Believe it. It’s a great word, too. I can’t wait to start using it.”

“Then start.”

Scorpius ruffled his hair. “I am so hopelessly in love with my fiancé.”

“I love it already!”

“I hope my fiancé doesn’t bankrupt both our families with his obnoxiously girly wedding plans.”

“Shut it! I am not obnoxiously girly.”

“You should have seen yourself with my mother tonight. You’d have to agree.”

“Git.”

“Fine, fine. You’re a big, strong, manly man who did not even once this evening use the terms ‘bouquet,’ ‘lavish,’ ‘hors d'oeuvres,’ ‘gown,’ or…”

“Stop!” Albus covered his face with both hands, his cheeks red. But then he smiled at Scorpius. “At least when we were talking about gowns, it was for the bridesmaids.”

Scorpius laughed. “Thank goodness for small favors. And you don’t think it counts as obnoxiously girly that you’re planning on having bridesmaids? Shouldn’t they at the very least be groomsmaids?”

Albus blushed again. “Well, I just didn’t think of it that way is all! I’m certainly not going to be a bride.”

Ceasing his teasing, Scorpius caressed his fiancé’s face. “No, what you’re going to be is a husband. Are you looking forward to that?”

“More than anything ever. Now go back to the fiancé part. I liked that better.”

“Would someone kindly do me the honor of passing my fiancé the lima beans?”

Albus giggled “I hate lima beans.”

“I know. But you love that word.”

“Yeah, I do.”

When they awoke in the morning, it was Albus’s turn to be the overexcited one. Scorpius grinned indulgently at his fiancé as Albus raced around, trying to get dressed as quickly as possible.

He followed suit, not wanting to be late, either. He was almost as excited to watch Albus give the news as Albus was to actually do it. Plus he wanted to get to the Potters’ before the other guests so that he could remind Lily to keep her big mouth shut, even to Rose.

Scorpius and Albus held hands on their way to the dining room, and Scorpius could feel the ring on Albus’s finger. It made him feel protective, and he liked the feeling.

When they entered the dining room, his parents were already waiting. Astoria ran over to kiss Albus good-morning, and almost as an afterthought, she kissed Scorpius’s cheek, too. But then she was off and running.

“So did you boys talk about a date last night?”

“We forgot,” Albus cried with dismay.

“They probably had more important things to discuss, dearest,” Draco commented with a small smile.

“Well, there is so much to think about. With your father being who he is, and our social circle, I fear that the guest list will be quite long. I’m going to start immediately asking my friends for recommendations of the best caterers. Our staff simply couldn’t handle it.”

“Of course,” Scorpius said dryly.

However Albus was hanging on her every word. “Do you think we ought to have a buffet? A sit-down dinner is much more expensive,” he fretted.

“A buffet? Heavens, no. Don’t worry about costs, darling. We’ll speak with your parents about money issues. But Scorpius is our only child. We don’t intend to cut corners. Have you thought about where to have the ceremony?”

“I suppose that depends on the date. If the weather is nice, we could do it outdoors. My parents had an outdoor ceremony,” Albus mused.

“Oh that would be lovely! We could have it right here on the south lawn. There’s plenty of room even with the number of guests we’re sure to have.”

“That would be so nice!” Albus gushed.

“If you ladies are quite finished, I’m hungry over here,” Scorpius teased.

Albus glared at him, but he was soon smiling again. “Don’t mind my fiancé. He thinks I’m obnoxiously girly.”

“Scorpius! You did not tell him that, did you?” Astoria scolded.

“Yes, but I begged forgiveness afterwards.”

“As well you should have,” she sniffed. “We have a lot of planning to do, and if you don’t intend to be helpful, you should just let us take care of it.”

“Whatever Albus wants, he can have. I just want him.”

Albus grinned at him. “That’s the easy part. The hard part is all these decisions!” Suddenly, he clutched Astoria’s arm. “We haven’t even talked about the flowers yet!”

Scorpius and his father glanced at each other and rolled their eyes in unison.

“Yes you have. I distinctly remember hearing the word “bouquet” several times,” Scorpius said chidingly.

“Yes, but not decorative flowers! Albus, you’re completely right, darling. And Scorpius, the bouquets will be for the bridesmaids,” Astoria explained patiently.

“Groomsmaids,” Albus and Scorpius corrected at the same time.

Draco made a noise that sounded like a strangled cough, but when Scorpius looked at him, he was calmly flipping through the newspaper, a placid expression on his face.

“Well, I’m starting breakfast, whether or not anyone wants to join me. We’re going to be late, otherwise,” Scorpius complained. Everyone dutifully sat down. “That’s better,” he said, satisfied.

Then Albus turned to Astoria and said, “What do you think for the groomsmen? Traditional robes or tuxedos?”

Scorpius sighed, but when he looked at his fiancé’s face, it was all worth it.
