Epilogue Four: The King and Queen

Epilogue Four: The King and Queen Of England

Ten Years Later

The sounds of laughter rung through the palace walls, and after all the sadness and sorrow, it was happy place. Life hadn’t been easy for Lucius and Hermione, but they had struggled through, and came out as better people, better rulers for their country.

Christmas time at the palace was a joyous time; the sounds of singing and laughter filled the air, and it made Hermione smile to see how things had changed for the better since she had fallen in love with Lucius. The palace was filled with warmth and glad tidings, and as she stepped out onto the dance floor, Hermione remembered her very first dance with her beloved.

“I confess myself drawn to you Lady Hermione, like a moth to a flame.”

“Your Majesty, please don’t come too close to the flame for I do not wish for you to burn.”

She blushed as she felt the arms of her husband slide around her waist; he looked at her through concerned eyes, as the heat rose up her cheeks.

“What are you thinking, sweetheart?” he asked.

“I’m just reminiscing, about our very first outing on this floor,” she smiled.

“Ahh, yes, I remember it well, your innocence and beauty were breathtaking,” he agreed.

“Will you still love me when my beauty fades?” asked Hermione.

“Of course I will,” he confessed.

“What about when my body can no longer bless us with babies,” she asked, worriedly.

“Then I will be thankful for the ones we do have,” he murmured, “Why are you asking this?”

“I’m not looking forward to letting her go,” she sighed as she looked at her step daughter, Bellatrix.

“She loves you very much, as much as a daughter ever could. We have chosen wisely for her, dearling. She will be very happy with Prince Adolphen Lestrange,” he said, soothingly.

“I hope so,” Hermione was miserable at the thought of letting her Bella go. She loved the little girl she had brought up as her own, and was loathe to let her go.

“It will be Abraxas next,” smiled Lucius, as he thought of his youngest son.

They had been blessed with six beautiful children, the first of them, twins, Edward and Henry. Barely a year later, Adela and then Rosalie. Then five years later, Catherine and Carlisle.

“Oh, Lucius, don’t say that!” she cried.

“Calm now, darling. We have six more to go before them,” he teased, and caressed her blooming stomach, “Not forgetting the one in there,”

“I think you live to keep me pregnant,” she joked, and he grinned.

“This is the last one, Lucius,” she admonished.

“The we will have seven, the perfect magical number,” he smiled.

“And then that is it,” she scowled.

He murmured his agreement, while formulating a plan for their eighth child. He wanted a large family, a dozen children were not too many…were they?

THE END.
