Unfinished Business

CHAPTER 16: Unfinished Business

-Christmas Eve-

A small army of wizards, young and old, huddled in the snow just on the edge of the wood line. They were watching a small, ramshackle fishing cabin that was being inhabited by a certain runaway werewolf.

“Are you sure he came here Alistair?” Arthur Weasley asked, wrapping his scarf more tightly around his neck.

“All of the intelligence from the ministry tracks him back here.” He said, falling back onto a fallen tree and taking a drink from his flask. The sound of big band music drifted on the breeze.

“He’s here alright, not many people aside from Remus actually listen to that horrid music.” Sirius said, his eyes focused on the house.

“Alright then, let’s go catch ourselves a wolf.” Harry said, pulling his wand from his coat.

The small unit of wizards consisted of Sirius Black, Harry Potter, Ron, Fred, George and Arthur Weasley, Severus Snape and Alistair Moody. It really didn’t require eight men to bring in one lone man, but it was a matter of honor, and of course curiosity always played a major factor with the group who found themselves bored now that the war was over. They all jumped at the chance to be involved in a little mission.

They made their way up the snow covered hill to the cabin, wands ready when Harry knocked on the door. They heard movement on the other side of the door, so Arthur and the twins went around to the back of the cabin just in case he tried to slip out the back.

Sirius flicked his wand and a ball of light flew from the end and blasted the door open.

“Damn it Sirius, I was on my way!” Remus yelled, pulling on his old worn cardigan sweater. “What in the hell are you doing here?”

“Looking for you.” He said, leading his small platoon of men into the cabin. Arthur and the twins came in through the kitchen and Remus found himself surrounded.

“It’s no where near the full moon, so why exactly did you bring an Army with you?” He asked as he turned in a slow circle and looked at the tips of eight wands pointed in his direction. “Would someone care to explain what is happening here?”

“First Lupin, hand over your wand.” Snape said, holding his hand out.

“Severus, really…”

“Your wand.” He said, slowly. Remus withdrew his wand and laid it in Severus’s palm. “Thank you, you can have it back later if you conduct yourself as a gentleman should.” Severus tucked the wand inside his cloak and stepped back.

“Where have you been Remus?” Sirius asked. “You vanished so suddenly and we have had a horrible time tracking you down.”

“You have proven far cleverer than I would have given you credit for, Lupin.” Moody said as he propped his hip on a table. “It took us six months to finally track you here.”

“Why so desperate to find me?” Remus asked. “Did it occur to any of you that maybe I did not wish to be found?” He didn’t expect the fist that slammed into his nose.

“Harry!” Ron grabbed his friend and pulled him back. Snape was roaring with laughter while Sirius glared.

“Shut up Severus! It’s not funny!” He said, watching Remus pull a handkerchief from his pocket and press it to his bleeding nose.

“But it was! I have to say Potter, you never cease to amaze me.” He said, chuckling still.

“Now what was that for?” Remus asked, staring at Harry. Harry started to yell something but Sirius threw a silencing spell his way and while his mouth moved, no sound emerged.

“You are coming with us.” Sirius said.

“I’m not going any where; you’ve all lost your bloody minds!” Remus said, his eyes darting around in panic.

“Oh how I have longed for this day….” Snape smirked and flicked his wand. “Levicorpus!” Remus was seized about the ankle by an invisible bond that jerked him off his feet and suspended him upside down in the air.

“Now Severus, Remus never was the one behind those curses, he tried to talk James out of it.” Sirius said, though he did see the benefit of having Remus subdued thusly.

“Doesn’t matter, I feel avenged in many ways.” Severus said, tilting his head to admire his handiwork.

“Damn it what is wrong with you people?” Remus didn’t struggle, he knew enough about the spell to know it wouldn’t help anything.

“I’m sorry Remus, but you have no choice in the matter. You are coming with us whether you want to or not. You have unfinished business that requires your immediate attention.” Sirius frowned when Severus began to bounce his wand and in turn bounced Remus. “Severus, don’t torture him.”

“Promise me if it comes to that you’ll let me do it.” Severus drawled, waving his wand back and forth so Remus would swing.

“There will be no need of crucios tonight Severus. Arthur, do you have the portkey?” Arthur Weasley reached into his coat pocket and withdrew an old pocket book. They all gathered round, making certain to keep the silent and fuming Harry away from Remus and reached out to touch the pocketbook. Sirius grasped Remus’s hand and forced it onto the old leather and in a whirling vortex of light they were swept up and then dropped unceremoniously into the back courtyard of number 12 Grimmuald Place.

CALM down! Things will work out I promise! No tears!

I suppose in my mind Remus sees his affliction as a terminal illness...he doesnt want it to take its toll on the one he loves.....but trust me....Hermione's boys arent gonna let him get by with that.
