The Eggs
Harry sat on the floor watching the eggs that his family had given him. Fawkes, who had flashed into the room as soon as he walked in, was resting on the mantle of the fireplace. Both of the eggs, which set in the chest, were both moving slightly. Harry and Fawkes were watching the eggs avidly for any cracks, though it quickly grew tiresome after two hours of no activity.
After three hours Harry had transferred to the couch and Fawkes was preening. Serenity soon broke the quiet, "Little founder, your mate has been looking for you for an hour. I think he is starting to get worried."
"Oh, thanks Serenity. Fawkes can you deliver a note for me?" Fawkes flew over and landed on Harry's shoulder and held out his foot. Harry jotted down a quick note and tied it to Fawkes' foot. Harry ruffled her feathers before she flashed out of the room.

Severus was worried, even though it had only been six hours since he had last seen Harry. Draco and the twins, who were in the courtyard when he walked by, had told him that Harry had opened the Ravenclaw quarters and then left over three hours ago. Severus looked around his quarters again, for something to take his mind of his mate. He had already blown up three potions, and picked up three books. His mind just couldn't leave Harry, and Severus soon found himself pacing, listening to a disgruntled Salazar hissing in the background.
Fawkes flashed in a little later and landed on the pacing mans shoulder. Severus quickly untied the letter from Fawkes' foot.
Severus,
I am sorry for not thinking. My ancestors left me some eggs and you are more than welcomed to come join me. Just let Fawkes know.
Harry
Severus quickly turned to Fawkes, "Please take me to him."
Fawkes let out a trill and they flashed out of the room.
When Severus and Fawkes flashed into the room, Harry got up from the floor to talk to him. "Hi Severus."
Severus, who had relaxed upon seeing Harry, took a moment to answer. "What exactly are you doing, Harry?"
"Well Salazar and Godric left me these eggs. The rock looking one is a Griffin, and the black one is a new breed of snake that Sal created. I've been waiting for three hours for them to hatch, you are welcome to wait with me." Harry looked up to Severus. "This is Sal's library by the way."
Severus looked around the room, surprised at the new feel of the room. It didn't seem to be an old deserted place. Severus wanted to get his hands on the books, but knew he should wait for Harry to offer.
Harry giggled at the sight of Severus trying to hide the fact that he was eyeing the books. "Help yourself, Severus. The books have a spell that made them unable to leave. I can't remove it just yet."
Severus offered a small smile; truthfully he didn't want to leave Harry and would be more than happy to just stay in his presence. Severus walked over to a shelf and started pursuing the books. He saw quite a few parsel books, maybe he could convince Harry to translate them later. Severus picked up a book, and sat down in the chair closest to Harry.
Harry just smiled and leaned against the chair. Soon both were absorbed in their books. Severus in his potions, and Harry in the Count of Monte Cristo. When four hours had passes both eggs started to rock and a scratching sound could be heard. Severus and Harry rushed over to the eggs.
The Griffin egg had a large crack in it and was rocking a bit. Soon a small beak appeared from the inside the egg. Fawkes started to sing to encourage the little griffin. Soon a small golden griffin emerged and spread little black wings. Fawkes flew down and cuddled the small cub. Harry bent down and picked it up. Smiling at the creature Harry held it up to his chest and cuddled the creature. Showing it to Severus he smiled, "I think I'll name her Altor, protector."
Severus smiled and was unprepared when Harry put the small creature in his arms. "Harry, I don't think I should be.... I don't get along very well...." Severus stopped talking and stared at the small creature now cuddling into his chest.
Harry smiled at the sight of the Severus stumbling for words and a small griffin cuddling into the stoic man's chest. "Hush Severus, the mark interfered with your aura and that's how animals judge you." Severus was starting down at the now purring griffin, and just nodded. Harry turned back to the last egg, which was now rocking a little itself.
Soon a small black snake was peaking out of the egg. Fawkes flew down and rubbed against the small snake. Harry picked it up to examine it. It was all black except for a small green star on its head. The snake was only about 12 inches long. Harry pulled the small snake close to his chest like he did the Griffin and let the snake hear his heartbeat. Harry showed the snake to Severus who leaned forward to pet the small snake when it hissed. Harry leaned forward to talk to the small animal.
Severus heard Harry start hissing and his heart started to race. He could feel himself getting hard and tried his hardest to think of anything else, he soon found himself focused on the small creature in his arms. It was helping, but not by much. He could still hear Harry talking in the seductive sibilant language.

"Hello little one."
The snake looked up at Harry and blinked. "Hello, are you the one I've been waiting for?"
"I am, do you have a name?"
"No."
"How about Astrum, it means star."
"I like it. What about the other ones?”
Harry looked up to see who else he was talking about. “The other human is my mate, Severus. The small griffin is Altor and the phoenix is Fawkes. I’ve never taken care of a snake before do you need anything?”
“No, I will sleep with the Griffin, as we have been. Fawkes will stay with us for a while to keep us warm for a month or two. Both Altor and I need to grow, and then we will go out with you. But for now we have to stay here, we are both blind. The breeder and his friends put a bonding circle on us so we know what is needed for each other. When you put us up to your heart we included you in the spell, but you won’t feel it for a while.”
Harry was amazed at the fact that all three creatures had already put the bonding circle on him. He put Astrum in Severus’ arms and picked the pieces of egg out of the chest. Harry then laid a blanket in the bottom of the chest and took the two small creatures and put them in the bottom. Fawkes flew over and cuddled next to the two. Harry then took a moment to look at Severus.
Severus was watching the small griffin avidly and his breathing was slightly heavy. Harry was worried that something was wrong and walked over to him. “Severus, is everything ok?” Harry went to put a hand on his arm, when Severus jerked back. Harry looked at the man is shock.
Severus was still trying to calm himself when he saw Harry try to touch him. He knew he might do something if Harry got to close and jerked back. Due to his discomfort he answered a little too tersely. “Yes, everything is fine. It’s late Harry, I need to go.”
Harry nodded and turned to lead the way. He was hurt that Severus seemed angry, and hurt more that he wouldn’t let him touch him. Harry put up a mask and led the way out of the chambers. Harry opened the door and Severus rushed past Harry, without a word.
Harry shut the door and went back into the library where he sat down and cried.
