Flickering Resistance

Flickering Resistance

Yay!!  Another review!!  *Does a little dance*  I just wish more people would review.  On to the story.

Voldemort found James curled up in a tight ball under the blanket.  He ripped the blanket off to expose the lithe body underneath.  James quickly grabbed it back and wrapped it around himself.

“And here I was hoping for a repeat of last night,” the dark wizard pouted.

“Fuck off!  You’ll never get a repeat because you don’t deserve it!”

The dark wizard shook his head and sighed deeply.  “I thought you’d come to your senses.  Now I see you’re going to keep fighting me when you can’t win.”

“No.  I’m not going to fight you anymore.  I may be prideful, but I’m not stupid.  Sorry to say I can’t say the same for you,” he said with his best smirk.

“How dare you!” Voldemort screamed; slapping him hard on the cheek.  Then James suddenly felt the white hot, searing pain rip through his body again.  “You will show me respect!”

James clenched his jaw and crawled his way over to the dark wizard; jumping to his feet and raking drawn claws across the man’s cheek.  Voldemort howled and clutched his face.  The dark haired wizard crumpled to the floor; breathing a sigh of relief.  “My respect has to be earned.”

James stood up and walked back over to the bed not seeming the least bit afraid of the wizard in the room with him.  “And I don’t respect the pathetic.”

As angry as Voldemort was he only laughed.  “And why do you think I’m pathetic?  Not that it matters or anything.  I don’t care what you think.  You just peaked my interest.”

It was James’ turn to laugh.  “Yes you do.  You care what everyone thinks.”

“I do not!”

“Look around you Tommy.  If you honestly don’t care what anyone thinks then why is it so important that everyone fears to even speak your name?”

“Shut up!”  The dark wizard backed up until he was against the wall; then slid down to the floor.

“We had fairly similar childhoods, but you knew that.  The major difference is that I was adopted when I was three.  I suppose I should thank you for that.  The only reason Albus adopted me was because the Ministry feared I would become another you.  Everyone thinks I had a great childhood.  What they don’t understand is that Albus is a busy man.  There were times I wondered if he remembered I existed.  Lots of people at the Ministry thought I would be just like you; including the Minister himself.  But you want to know why I didn’t Tommy?”

“Shut up!  You know nothing!”

“I don’t need people to kiss my ass and worship me to feel special.  I really don’t give a flying fuck what anyone thinks about me.  As long as those few I actually care about are on my side then I’m content.  You on the other hand; well, you’re needy and just plain pathetic.”

“I told you to shut up!” Voldemort stood and reached for his wand.

“Are you going to attack me Tommy?  You should’ve learned by now that it won’t stop me.  How long did you torture me the other day?  And yet I’m still standing here telling you exactly what no one else has the guts to point out; the truth.”

The dark wizard lowered his wand and sighed.  “You’re right about one thing.  You really are without a doubt the most stubborn being on the planet.  That’s why I like you James.  You’re a complete mystery.  I’ve never met anyone so unique; except myself of course.”

“Well I won’t argue that.”  He moved toward Voldemort with his classic Potter pout on his face complete with puppy dog eyes.  “Now, let’s discuss my imprisonment.  If you keep me locked up in this room I’ll die.”

Voldemort looked deep into those pale blue eyes and felt his manhood stiffen.  He silently cursed himself for letting this man do this to him.  “Of course.  How could I deny you.”

A Cheshire grin appeared on James’ lips and he grabbed the collar of Voldemort’s robes; lightly licking the outer edge of his ear.  The man shivered and quickly left the room.

Lucius came in soon after to find James curled up on the bed again.  “Why is the door unlocked?” he asked curiously.

“Because I wanted it unlocked,” James grinned.

The blond shook his head and laughed.  “So you’re the reason he was in such a state of disarray earlier.  I kind of figured.  Oh, I brought the rest of your potion ingredients and caldron.  I don’t suppose you could tell me what you plan to do?”

James shook his head.  “If I tell you then you won’t help me anymore.”

“Let me guess.  It’s something dangerous.”

“How did you know!” James cried out in mock surprise.

“Oh, I don’t know.  Maybe because I’ve known you since the summer before our seventh year of school.”

“Yeah, that was fun wasn’t it.  I’ll never forget the look on your face when I showed up at your doorstep to see Sev.  The mood was ruined though when he caught us taking a bubble bath together.”

“He was rather upset wasn’t he.  I’m glad we were able to come to an understanding.”

James nodded and moved to collect all the potion ingredients he had hidden throughout the room.  He started working on it right away; chopping up and grinding the herbs.  “How do you expect to hide the fact that you’re brewing a potion in here?” Lucius asked a few minutes later.

“You just leave that to me.”

“I hate it when you put yourself in danger.”

James smiled and kissed him softly on the cheek.  “It’s the only way I can see to get out of here love.”

“But that collar has a key.  I could sneak into his room and steal it.”

James shook his head.  “No, too dangerous.  You were never that good at sneaking around.  I won’t have you getting caught.  Don’t worry so much about me okay?”

Lucius sighed and nodded.  “I know I should trust you.  You’re a much better wizard than the dark lord.  I don’t understand why he always seems to have the upper hand.”

“It’s because the lucky dumb fuck stumbled onto some very powerful black magic.  Don’t worry though, it can be broken.  I just have to remember how.”

“What do you mean remember?”

“I… um…   I sort of remember reading something about it in one of those books I ‘borrowed’ from the Hogwarts restricted section.  All I need to do now is remember what it was I read.”

“Uh huh…” The blond tilted his head a bit and raised his eyebrow, but he let the subject drop.  “So you’re not going to tell me what kind of concoction I’m helping you to brew?  I asked Sev but he didn’t have any idea either.”

“Nope.  But I would like it if you stayed and kept me company.”

Lucius smiled.  “That I can most certainly do.”

He spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the bed beside James watching him work.  He continued to try and get his lover to tell him something, but all he got was, “You’ll see soon enough.”
