Ch. 14 Meddling Minds

Chapter 14: Meddling Minds

Harry opened his eyes in a pristine white room that was brightly lit with morning sunshine. It took a few minutes for his eyes to adjust and for him to realize he was in the hospital wing at Hogwarts. He could hear a commotion going on out in the corridor. The voices were growing louder and more shrill by the minute. If he hadn’t recognized the voices of Madam Pomphry and Hermione arguing he may have thought it was a tea kettle coming to a boil. He sat up and was on the verge of sneaking over to the door to listen when the medi-witch came bustling back into the room leading a red-faced and bushy-haired Hermione Granger towards Harry’s bed. For reasons he couldn’t understand. Harry laid quickly down in his bed and acted as if he were still asleep.

“As you can plainly see Miss Granger, Mister Potter is alive. He is in a sleep-like state due to a potion’s accident, just as Headmaster Dumbledor told you.”

“How could he have had a potion’s accident when we are in the same potions class? I haven’t seen him or Malfoy in two weeks and no one will give me any answers.”

“Be that as it may, Miss Granger, I can not give you any more information, I suggest you direct your questions to the headmaster from here on out, and stop disturbing my patients.”

“I will do exactly that”, snapped Hermione and stormed out in a huff slamming the door behind her.

“Well, I never” snorted Madam Pomphry while straightening Harry’s blankets.

“Headmaster, there has been no change in almost two weeks! We must do something!”
“Minerva, I am open to any suggestions you may have on the matter, but I have tried everything in my power to regain their consciousness. Nothing seems to be working. The only positive note is that all the tests have revealed that their magical abilities are still intact. They just seem to be blocked or held by some unknown force.”

“Albus, I don’t mean to question you but surely you are mistaken about Mr. Malfoy being Harry Potter’s soul mate. I mean to say, they hate each other, always have, according to Hagrid, since they first met in Madam Malkin’s before first year.”

“Love and hate, Minerva are very closely related. I have been doing some research and I think the boys must find out they are soul mates only when they have fallen in love. Then and only then will they regain their powers and memories and complete the prophecy.”

“Oh Albus, No! You mustn’t mean that you are going to play match maker with two of our most powerful and influential students!”

“I see no other way Minerva, also I will not have to do much more anyway, you see. The boys will have to be secluded from the rest of the school due to their lack of powers and tutored privately. They are already room mates, what more could we ask for?”

With his eyes twinkling Dumbledor led the way out of his office towards the hospital wing to check on his most important pupils. Minerva hissed a steady stream of negatives in his ear all the way, reminding him of a much younger Gryffindor who would most defiantly make an excellent teacher one day quite soon.
