Chapter 16
Refugee
Crossover fic: WrestlingXHarry Potter
Pairing: Shawn Michaels/Lucius Malfoy
Rated: R for now
Summary: Lucius escapes from Azkaban in the middle of Book 6, wandless, starved, helpless, and completely lost in the muggle world.
Disc: Not my men, not my show, not my book, not my anything! *sooooooooob*
Harry Potter notes: Dementors are attacking them- They look like grim reaper/ring wraith cross overs who create awful cold and feed off of emotion. They were originally guards at Azkaban but at the end of book 5, they joined Voldemort and were turned on the world. They can give the dementors kiss, which takes your soul. They can be warded away by a patronus, a powerful spell that creates a guardian made of silver mist that attacks them.
Chapter 16
We had been blown back past the registers, landing amongst the shattered glass. I heard Shawn moan beside me, but I couldn\'t see him. I could barely see or hear him- I needed my wand but I can\'t seem to feel it anywhere...
\"Lu-Lucius..\"
\"Shawn, are you okay?\" I murmured.
\"I\'m fine, but your eye-\"
\"Don\'t you worry about me, g-get out of here. Run as fast as you can, and don\'t look back. Don\'t think about me, or anything else. Don\'t think about anything--it\'s very important that you do this!\"
\"But I... God, why is it so cold?!\"
\"Just run god damn it! NOW!\" I bellowed. I heard his foot steps hesitating over for me, but then he took off toward the inside of the store. When they come for me I don\'t want him around. I don\'t want him getting hurt because of me. Or even worse--- loose his soul.
They\'re close- I can feel it getting colder. I don\'t know what they\'ll do with me. Maybe I\'ll get that damned kiss and be one of the soulless. But it didn\'t matter. Shawn was safe, they\'ll come for me.
I could feel them swooping in through the massive windows- it won\'t be long now. Even if I could summon a patronus, I wouldn\'t be able to. I can barely see out of one eye, and the other is far too damaged from broken glass. But they didn\'t stop at me- they slipped further into the store. I heard terrified screams coming from every which way, and I know one of them had to be Shawn\'s.
No matter how bad I felt, how damaged my legs were and my sight almost gone- I had to go in there. It was dangerous going in here like this, I was terrified for Shawn. They can feed off my emotion, and it hurt so bad I couldn\'t control my test.
I paused to wipe blood and shards from my good eye, trying to look around. The lights were starting to flicker, but I could still see them.
-
Shawn was running as fast as he could- he passed through the receiving doors, toward the emergency exits at the end of the store. He never felt so strangely in his whole entire life. It almost felt as if he\'d never be happy again. He felt so god damn guilt for leaving Lucius behind, he wanted to curl up into a ball and die. But he had to keep running. If he ran fast enough, he could escape those awful feelings.
But it wouldn\'t stop... just wouldn\'t... So tired. So hopeless. He slowed down to almost a halt, falling down on the hard cement floor. Something turned him around, gripping his arms painfully. Swirling darkness had to come to claim him, to take his soul, to bring him to his demise.
An explosion of silver around him brought Shawn back to reality. He no longer felt like he had been sacked with negativity--but he didn\'t feel good either. He was able to see the giant form of a silver snake fading off, and a black hooded creature reeling in defeat, sinking into shadow.
He musta lost a hell of a lot of blood.
The one thing he knew he couldn\'t be imagining was Lucius half standing, half falling holding some kind of a stick by the receiving doors. He was shouting expectapatron. No.. It was Expecto patronus- whatever that meant. It sounded like Latin, but if he could imagine silver snakes and black hooded demons, he could imagine that too. But he knew Lucius\' arms wrapping around him was real. \"Lucius... What...\"
\"There\'s no time Shawn, we must get out of here!\" He murmured helping him up to his feet. Another explosion rocked them, sending corrugated metal from the ceiling to come clattering down around them. Smoke and screams for help came from beyond the receiving doors, from everyone still inside the market part of the store.
Shawn rubbed his eyes in attempts to see what was coming in the fog- but all he could make out were tall pointed hoods. He grew suddenly grew terrified; they were under attack by the KKK! He never knew the awful faction had come to Texas, but where every there was hatred then it is possible. They\'d lynch him for what he was, and what he did on TV. But most of all, he feared for Lucius. They hated foreign men- and Lucius definitely wasn\'t American. \"O-Oh my god-- We have to get out of here! It\'s the Klan!\"
Lucius didn\'t have the time to give Shawn a puzzled look, but he knew what he must have been scared of- death eaters. They had come looking for him, sending in dementors first before they came to finish him off. And now because Shawn was with him, they\'d probably torture him. Maybe even kill him. He couldn\'t let that happen. He\'d protect Shawn even if it meant his death. Even though it hurt so terribly, it didn\'t matter- he grabbed Shawn, making a run for the back doors. But once outside, he didn\'t stop.
They were everywhere, marching down the streets, blowing up windows, and killing. Death was inescapable. Lucius looked to Shawn, who was looking up at the giant green image of the dark mark above them in horror.
\"Th-That\'s your tattoo!\"
\"Don\'t remind me.\" He murmured running down the alley with him. He wasn\'t sure of what to do now, or where this way might take them. Getting them far enough away to apparate was the goal. He had underestimated Voldemort. A little bit of magic was all it took to find him. The dark lord must want him dead, for reasons he could not think of at the moment.
Shawn had never seen Lucius like this. He was scared. This proud, arrogant man--scared out of his mind. When they rounded the corner, they finally stopped. Lucius was down right pale from all the blood loss, and was having a very hard time trying to breathe. He collapsed on Shawn, wheezing heavily. The shorter blonde clutched on to him, not knowing what else to do.
\"No matter what, I\'ll protect you.\" Shawn heard him murmur. \"Hold on as tight as you can to me. Don\'t let go.\"
He didn\'t want to argue, so he did as he was told. He felt air rushing around him, pressure throbbing in his ears. When he dared opened his eyes, they were outside of the hospital he had his spinal fusion surgery. He must have mentioned once during dinner with Lucius, but he couldn\'t even begin to comprehend how they got here- and so quickly. \"I.. I don\'t understand... How did we get here?\" He stammered. \"We were in San Antonio just a second ago-\"
Lucius remained slumped against him, talking scarcely above a whisper. \"It\'s because of what I am. Do you remember when you found me in the desert?\"
Shawn helped them over to a bench, easing Lucius down to sit. \"How could I not?\"
\"Well, I was there because I had escaped from prison, as you probably gathered from the tattered uniform you found me in. But in actuality, I am very, very wealthy from inheritance and my job in the ministry. My family is one of the oldest, and most prominent. But I was put in prison for some very stupid choices I made. I thought they were right at the time, and I still did when you found me. But... I don\'t anymore, because I met you. And if I continued to follow what I once believed in, I would have had to kill you.\"
Shawn gave him a flustered look, holding tight to his hands. \"Why... why would you have had to do such an awful thing.\"
Lucius adjusted his sleeve to show him the mark on his arm. \"This is not a tattoo, Shawn. It\'s a branded mark- the dark mark... It means that I will follow my lord\'s work, which would be to kill all non-magical people. That would include you. You don\'t have any magic ability, there for you don\'t matter. That\'s why I was so cruel to you in the beginning. But there was something so strong, so defiant about you Shawn... that just made me think twice. You showed me things that I never thought were possible. You loved me when no one else would. You took care of me even though I treated you so badly. No one I know would do that for me.\"
\"Lucius-\"
\"No, let me finish!\" He said forcefully. \"You made me feel more human than anyone else. You changed me. Now, the group I belong to is trying to find me again to bring me back to the dark lord quite possibly to be killed. However, if they find me with you, they\'d think nothing of torturing you for fun. This is why I brought you here- I\'ll know you\'ll be safe here. You said you liked this place, and what a good job they did on your spinal surgery. But if I stay with you any longer, they\'ll find you.\"
Shawn clutched on to his hands harder. \"No! NO! You\'re not leaving! I don\'t care about what happens to me anymore- I love you! I can go with you. How will you eat if I don\'t cook for you?!\"
This was the hardest thing he had ever done. Shawn\'s plea and admission of love touched parts of his heart that he didn\'t even know existed. \"I know, but I can\'t put you at such an awful risk. I can\'t even let you remember me, knowing that if you do have just the slightest bit of memory of me, they will harm you. That can\'t happen Shawn- Because if it does, it would hurt me more than all the torture that they could bring.\" Lucius paused to gaze at Shawn with a sense of longing that he had never felt before. \"I.. I love you too. There\'s nothing more that I want than to be with you.\"
Shawn remained silent for the longest time. He wasn\'t sure of what to do- Lucius claimed he was going to erase all of Shawn\'s memories of him. What he was saying was absolutely bizarre. It explained some things, but the rest of it seemed so impossible. \"I don\'t want to forget you.\" He finally said with a voice just barely above a whisper. \"If you can really erase my memory- can you make a way for me to get it back when all the trouble is done?\"
The risks of such a charm were high. There was a huge chance that Shawn wouldn\'t even remember even after the removal of the charm. There was an even bigger chance that he wouldn\'t be coming back alive. Part of him couldn\'t let Shawn completely forget him. It was a small part that clung to something beautiful, just a bit of hope. \"There is a way. It\'s rarely used, but I can make it so the next time you see me, you will remember me. Up until then however, you won\'t.\"
\"I\'d rather have that then nothing. B-But before you make me forget... Can I have one last kiss good bye?\"
Lucius squeezed his hands and nodded. How could he refuse a request like that? \"Of course.\"
\"You\'d better damn well come back for me, Lucius Malfoy.\"
The two lovers came together for what Lucius presumed as the last time. Lips locked for what seemed like an eternity, sharing something so passionate, it gave both men chills. Lucius couldn\'t wait any longer, otherwise it\'d be too hard to leave. Using his infamously quick wand work, Shawn\'s memory of him was gone.
