Ch 15
Hermione couldn't believe her ears...Did this man just say that he was a...hit man?!
Edward shifted his weight slightly, "Yes, I know, it's shocking."
"Wait, so you're a professional killer?" Harry asked.
Edward nodded, "Yes, and I'm here to teach you how to kill."
Hermione made a strangled noise, "What, you're going to teach Harry how to kill?" However she was looking at Professor Blake.
"Well, yes. He's supposed to kill this Voldemort person right?" when everyone nodded their agreement the professor continued. "And this Voldemort has followers right?" more nods. "That means Mr. Potter will need to learn to keep himself alive to see the end of this. Which will mean he will probably have to kill more people than just this Voldemort. And considering Edward has a rather large killing resume...he's fit to teach how to kill. And of course I will sit in on the lessons and add my own input, so that our Mr. Potter doesn't become a sociopath."
Everyone except Lanna, Professor Blake, and Edward fidgeted uncomfortable. In fact, Draco Malfoy looked quite green.
"But I don't want to kill anybody..." Harry whispered.
The looks of "oh shit" on Lanna and the Professor's face was the only upside to this conversation, in Hermione's humble opinion. However what Lanna asked Harry wasn't, "Do you want yourself and your friends to live?"
Hermione fixed her gaze on Lanna, "You know, if you let that psychopath kill you...he wont stop there..." Lanna stated moving directly in front of Harry and only inches apart, "in fact he wont be happy till everyone standing in this room is dead and gone. By being in this room, we are all helping you. Including Draco, by the way. So if you in your childish delusions, get or allow yourself to be killed...you're killing everyone in this room. I know that this was not your choice, that the adults who are supposed to protect you and shield you from this...were in fact the ones that pushed this on you."
Hermione watched in utter awe as her professor took over the rest of the pep talk. "But we can't change that. All we can do is help you change to match the situation and help you survive. However if you wont help yourself let us know now, so that I can grab my daughter and go."
"What?" Harry asked.
"What my mom means is...if you don't fight and kill to survive, she's not going to let you drag me and her down with you."
Hermione's heart broke as she knew in that moment that Harry was going to have to shed what was left of his innocence and become more than just an adult, but a warrior. And to survive so would she and Malfoy. They'd all have to become fighters. Fighters that were put in no other position but to kill. "They're right, Harry. Except it's not just you that needs to learn to do this...I need to learn to do this, Ginny, Neville, Luna...even Malfoy. And anyone else involved."
Hermione watched as Harry absorbed her speech and at the end of it closed his emerald jewels behind his lids. "You're right," he whispered, "you're all right. But..."
Lanna cut him off with her index finger pressed to his lips, "It's not fair. We know...but...it's what it is. And what makes a person strong is what they make of it."
Harry nodded, "It's not fair. It'll never be fair. But if I live through this, I'll see better days." Harry stated looking deep into Lanna's brown, brown eyes.
Lanna smiled, "Excatement."
Hermione gave Lanna the look of wonderment, "You speak French?"
"Not really, a lot of the Vamps at home use words here and there. Some of them are French."
"Oh."
"Alright." the professor said. "I just wanted to give a quick introduction. Now get to your next classes. However, if you decide to ditch just this once... I'll cover for you all."
