SHE TALKS! An Interview with Pansy Parkinson

LL: Thanks you for agreeing to this interview, Pansy.

PP: Your quite welcome, thank you for listening.

LL: First off, I want to confirm that you openly admit to being Ron’s mistress.

PP: Yes I do.

LL: How did this come about?

PP: My parents had arranged a marriage for me that I disagreed with. It was to a man who had a reputation of being very abusive to women.

LL: Who did they arrange?

PP: Nereus Sunderson. He and his family had fixed details with my parents. I found out about the arrangement the day before the formal meetings of families. The contract itself was horrible.

LL: What did it specify?

PP: I have it here. (She hands me the contract she kept as a reminder.) It’s all laid out there. As you can see, its quite apparent why I would have no part in it.

LL: What did you do?

PP: I went out that night to a pub run by a friend. It was then that I met Ron. He was drinking as well.

LL: Who approached who?

PP: Ron approached me and asking why I was drinking. When I spoke of my arranged marriage he offered me a way out.

LL: By becoming his mistress?

PP: Yes, he offered to buy me a house, and pay all my expenses and needs. I agreed.

LL: Did the arrangement become settled that night?

PP: Yes ,we were together that night. The next day I went home to gather my belongings and tell my family and the Sundersons that I would not marry.

LL: How did they react?

PP: My parents naturally were upset and Nereus himself referred to me as Ron’s whore.

LL: Do you agree with that?

PP: No, because Ron doesn’t view me as a whore. He doesn’t make me feel like one. However I said it to Nereus that day and I’ll say it again, that I would rather be Ron’s whore then married to him.

LL: How long has this been going on?

PP: Between seven and eight months now.

LL: Do you think Ron would rather be married you than his wife?

PP: I would never claim to know what Ron would prefer with regards to anything. That is a question only he can answer.

LL: If he were free to marry, would you marry him?

PP: That’s a topic neither of us has broached. I couldn’t think of any possible answer now because Ron is already married. I am not one to wish or dream, I’ve already done that and I know that it’s pointless.

LL: Now that you’ve seen how some unions end up, and you have this life now, are you anti-marriage.

PP: I’m anti-marriage if it’s done for the wrong reasons. Marriage is about commitment and sharing a life with someone. When there are hidden agendas and ulterior motives then eventually people will be hurt. I’m against that.

LL: Would you rather be married than mistress?

PP: I don’t have particular opinions either way. I am willing to be with Ron in any capacity. I just happen to be in the mistress capacity.

LL: Are you happy here?

PP: Very.

LL: Why?

PP: Ron has done more for me in the short time I have been here then most have done my whole life. He makes me feel valued.

LL: Did he mentioned to you why he wanted you to be his mistress?

PP: He said he wanted to feel needed. He felt used by his wife, he spoke openly about how relations with her were cold and he wanted a woman who wanted him equally.

LL: Did you want him physically then?

PP: I was too upset to think that way and quite shocked. I honestly told him that I didn’t know if I could be what he wanted.

LL: How did he react?

PP: He still offered to help me. I couldn’t help but think how wonderful he was, to offer me such help. I told him I would try to be what he wanted. He said he would be good to me and would never hurt me. He would never force me and would make sure I never wanted for anything.

LL: And has he kept his promise?

PP: Yes. In every way. I have been provided for and treated very well. Better then I ever imagined and it\'s due to Ron.

LL: Has Ron told you his feelings about his wife.

PP: I can only say what he has admitted to me and he only says that his marriage is not what it should be. He didn’t feel married at all. He asked me for certain things and I promised to give them.

LL: What did he ask for?

PP: He asked me to talk to him when I felt something. To never keep fears or concerns a secret. To look him in the eye. To never turn away from him. And to hold him.

LL: Hold him?

PP: Ron is very affectionate and he likes being touched and held. I make it a point always to keep some kind of contact with him. I hold his hand, touch his shoulders, hug him at random moments.

LL: Is this what he says he needs?

PP: Yes, he wants to feel loved and desired.

LL: And do you love him?

PP: (Pansy remains silent as she decides how to answer. One can only speculate on what goes through her mind.) With everything that I am.

Miss Parkinson was a gracious host and this reporter finds her honesty refreshing. The home Mr. Weasley bought for her, while not near the size of his own home, is generous to say the least. Without the decorative shows of wealth, she surrounds herself with bookshelves and magazines.

Far from the conniving temptress some have painted her as, one tends to see a genuine lady who has made a happy life and shares it with someone equally deserving.
