Chapter 15
As soon as they arrived they were faced with a small group of infected. Hermione cried out in shock but then managed to raise her gun and shoot. Draco and Goyle were already shooting. The five infected fell to the ground quickly. They looked all around them to make sure there were no other infected around and were glad when they saw none.
They walked a little towards the homestead, keen to see Harry and the others. Soon enough they saw four figures running down a set of steps. The four called out to them, pointing behind them. Hermione, Draco and Goyle turned to see a group of infected half running, half limping towards them.
Hermione raised her gun, this time more angry than scared.
“Die you fuckers!” She screamed as she pulled the trigger over and over again.
She heard Draco and Goyle firing their guns from next to her. They kept stepping backwards as they came for them. All of them fell but one. He kept getting shot over and over but still he kept coming at Hermione. She pulled out her taser as he lunged at her and zapped him on his face. He screamed out in pain and moved off of her, holding his head. Draco took aim and shot him in the head. He then knelt next to Hermione, looking her over.
She began to panic. Maybe she had gotten infected blood on her.
“Oh my god!” She panicked. “I’ve got blood on me! Infected fucking blood!”
Draco pulled her up quickly and she ripped her jacket off. She inspected her t-shirt and jeans but they were fine. She aimed her wand at her jacket and set it alight. She looked at Draco, breathing hard. He stepped close to her and grabbed her shoulders.
“You’re fine.” He said. “No blood.”
He touched her cheek lightly and then let go. He faced the homestead. Harry, Pansy, Parvarti and Alicia had almost reached them. She put her wand in her back pocket and the gun down the back of her jeans, making sure the safety was on. Then she ran and enveloped Harry.
“Thank god.” He said, squeezing her tightly.
He pulled back and grabbed her face.
“Are you alright?” He asked.
She nodded, tears forming at the sight of him.
“Let’s just go. Okay?” She said, taking his hand.
Draco and Pansy looked at each other for a moment before looking away.
“I’ll take Harry.” Hermione said. “Draco you take Alicia. Goyle can you take Pansy and Parvarti?”
Goyle nodded. Hermione looked around making sure they were still in the clear. One of the infected on the ground stirred and began getting up. She pulled out her gun and frowning, she shot him in the head.
“Let’s go.”
She took Harry’s hand again and they disappeared.

When they landed on the porch, Hermione gave a sigh of relief. She pulled Harry in for another hug and closed her eyes. He hugged her back, so relieved to be with his friend, his sister.
A moment later the rest of the group appeared.
“George is here, yeah?” Alicia asked quickly.
Hermione nodded.
“He’s inside with the family.” She answered, letting Harry go.
Alicia all but ran to the door. She pushed it open and immediately began scanning the room.
“George?!” She yelled. “George Weasley!”
As soon as he heard her voice he pushed his way through the crowd and pulled her into his arms, squeezing her hard and mumbling incoherent things. Alicia was crying and kissing his face.
Hermione smiled sadly. Harry walked through the door next only to be tackled by Ginny who wasn’t much better than Alicia. The moment she saw him she was crying and checking him all over, making sure he wasn’t hurt.
Pansy walked through the door, looking lost and lonely. Narcissa walked up to her, lifted her chin and touched her cheek lightly. Pansy began to cry and held onto Narcissa hard, just wanting a motherly embrace.
Hermione decided to get some piece and quiet. She walked away into the kitchen. She leant against the bench, closing her eyes and breathing in deep. So many things were running through her mind; her parents, their safety in the house, what she should cook for them all, where they were going to sleep.
She sighed and began looking for pots in the cupboard. She was going to make a stew for them all. It would at least take her mind off of things for a while. She recalled her mothers old recipe with both sadness and pride. She was finally going to make it herself.
Hermione Accio-d all the ingredients from the pile of groceries they had gotten and set the knives chopping up all the ingredients for her while she sat and watched.
“Still haven’t stopped?” Draco asked walking in and sitting down next to her.
She shook her head.
“There’s still so much to do.” She said.
She flicked her wand and sent all the cans flying neatly into a cupboard.
“It’s not all up to you.” He said. “You shouldn’t have to do all of it. You’ve done enough for everyone already. In case you had forgotten, we got everyone out alive today.”
She looked at him and suddenly felt nervous under his gaze. She looked away. He sensed her uneasiness and stopped looking at her.
“Thank you for everything you’ve done, Draco.” She said. “I wouldn’t have been half as strong with out you.”
He looked up at her and caught her eye. They looked at each other for a few moments, the gaze growing warm. They were brought back to earth by Harry, Luna, Alicia and the Weasley’s walking into the kitchen.
“Something smells good.” Ron remarked.
“I’ve got some stew cooking.” Hermione answered. “I don’t know about you but I’m starving.”
There was a murmur of agreement around the room.
