HarryGinny4eva- Thanks! I'm so glad you like it, I had alot of fun writing this chapter!

Liz- as I said before, I'm a total sucker for shower scenes.. they are tres sexy and you certainly know how to boost a girls ego!! I was giggling through most of the class scene lol. I'm thinking they might have a test that's entirely filled with questions with no answer. Lots of hilarious ways to mess with the kids. I hope I can keep you hooked!

Adrianna- I don't know where the serious is coming from lol, I thought this was gonna be light! I try and add some humor in when I can but lol, I'm starting to think I'll just let this story go where it goes

Chapter 15

Hermione couldn’t breathe, but she knew she was sobbing. She kept pacing in the room, she couldn’t control herself. Images kept flashing through her head that only seemed to cause her more pain. She felt sick.

She saw Ron, as the little boy she knew smiling at her.

She saw Ron sneering at her in the dark.

She saw Ron, awkwardly reach to hold her hand, nervously looking up at her.

She saw Ron backhanding her across the face.

She saw Ron, blushing after their first kiss.

She saw Ron ripping her shirt open, that disgusting smirk on his face.

She couldn’t breathe. She felt dirty; she wanted a shower and to scrub herself clean, get his handprints off of her. She couldn’t handle the overload of emotions that hit her in waves while pictures of him throughout her life flashed through her mind. She wanted to vomit. She felt herself falling, and suddenly strong arms wrapped around her. It was like a light in a dark room.

She felt her knees hit the ground, but the arms stayed. They felt warm, they felt safe, but she felt the darkness surrounding her again. Showing her things, things that could have happened, things that she had managed to block out.

She didn’t know how long she stayed there battling the dark, sobbing and lashing out, but the warmth of those arms never left her. She found that when she focused on the tiny light caused by those arms she could face the dark with less pain. The more she faced the terror and the things the dark showed her, the light increased. She felt warmer, stronger. She realized she had survived. The light grew.

She faced him again, in the dark, with the light by her side. It was over. It would never happen again. The light grew. Soon the light was stronger than the dark, pushing the dark away, weakening it. Hermione found the dark much easier to face. The light grew, and then in one blinding moment, the light consumed, Hermione felt alive again. She felt human.

She opened her eyes to find her head in the crook of Draco’s neck, his arms wrapped tightly around her. Both kneeling on the floor. His entire shoulder was soaked with tears. She was silent and his arms only tightened. She could hear him whispering to her.

“Hermione I have you. I love you. I won’t ever let anything hurt you...”

“Draco?” She whispered. His whole body tensed.

“Are you really awake?” His voice low and hopeful.

“Yes.”

A whole shudder went through his body and he pulled her tight against him. She could feel his fast heartbeat. She pulled back to look at him and gasped. Two long scrapes all the way down his temple were slightly bleeding. His lip was swollen and bleeding as well, and he looked like he had the forming of a black eye.

“Merlin Draco what happened?” He chuckled, eyes tearing up.

“You almost fell to the floor, but I caught you and held you tight. You started crying uncontrollably. You went into this trance. Your eyes glazed over and you started babbling, screaming, and even fighting against me. I think you thought I was someone else, but I couldn’t let you go. Every time you stopped fighting whatever you were facing you clung to me. Like you felt me and needed me there. Sometimes you even yelled while holding on to me. Then you whispered my name. You came back.”

“You were my light...”

“Your what?”

“My light... I could feel you, feel your arms. I was facing all the bad. It was like this darkness that consumed me. But I could feel you; you were this light. That helped me beat the dark. And then when there was no more dark left, I woke up crying on your shoulder...You were my light.”

Hermione felt her eyes tear up again, and to her surprise, Draco’s did too. They simply looked at each other for a while. She silently kissed him, trying to convey all the love and faith she had for him. Draco smiled at her and her world lit up. He was here, he was solid, he was hers, and he loved her.

“Come on, let’s get cleaned up.” Draco said encouragingly. He stood up and held his hand out to her.

Hermione would have this moment etched into her mind for the rest of her life. Draco, cut up and bruised, smiling down at her, helping her up. The love in his eyes overwhelmed her. She took his hand and stood up, but she suddenly found herself wobbling. She fell into Draco’s arms again and he chuckled. Hermione blushed, confused at her legs.

“How long was I out?”

“A few hours...” He said sheepishly.

“What?!?”

“Hermione you were somewhere else, fighting your demons, that takes time. And... But you’re ok now right?”

“Yes, it was weird facing it all at once but yes, I’m alright now. I’m ok.”

Draco pulled her into another tight embrace. She returned the hug without hesitation. He pulled back, smiled and nodded towards the door. Hermione realized they were still in the classroom and almost laughed. This was going to be an awkward walk back to their room.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hermione sighed as the water hit her. It felt wonderful. On the way back Draco had told her they still had to meet the Aurors in two hours, it didn’t seem so bad this time to her. She had Draco with her, and these people were on her side.

Draco had decided to give her a moment alone and shower on her own. He seemed to know her so well. She wanted him around but she did need some time to evaluate what had happened. What was even better was that even though she was alone, she knew Draco was right outside that door and would come in a second if she called him.

She expected herself to be thinking of what happened and what was going to happened, but she wasn’t. If she was going to be honest with herself. She was fantasizing. She knew she was going to be spending the afternoon reliving horror, so she indulged herself and thought of things that made her smile.

A future. A future with Draco. She could see them opening a potion shop, teaching together, running a business. It didn’t really matter; it was the whole together thing that made her smile. She imagined marrying him. A beautiful wedding, everyone happy and congratulating. She imagined herself cooking dinner while Draco helped the kids with homework. She imagined how it would feel knowing she would get to wake up with him every morning forever. It made her smile and blush. Definitely happy thoughts.

She finished rinsing out her hair and turned off the shower. She had just finished drying off when Draco walked in smiling at her.

“My turn.” He said as he began to undress and turn the water back on.

Hermione smiled and absentmindedly started brushing her hair. Draco looked at her, he was almost confused. She had seemed strangely happy after what happened this morning. He figured it was because she had come to peace with what happened. But this smile was a bit different.

“A knut for your thoughts.” He said as he came up and wrapped his arms around her from behind.

Hermione hesitated, suddenly seeming unsure, that caused Draco to get nervous, but at the same time, now he
really wanted to know what was going on in that brilliant mind of hers.

“I don’t know if you want to hear them.” She mumbled, looking down.

“I really do.”

Hermione paused for a moment, worked up her courage and finally said it.

“The future...”

“Oh..”

“Yeah...”

“Am I in it?” Hermione blushed at his blunt question.

“I really want you to be.”

“Me too.”

“Really?”

“Really. What do you see? I’m curious as to what you want. I’ll tell you if you tell me.”

“Well... There are lots of things we can do. But career specifics don’t really matter to me because there’s lots of things I know I’d love to do and I know I’ll be successful. What I do see though.... is.. Eventually... umm... marriage, and then... eventually... kids...”

“How many do you want?” Draco interrupted.

“Three, two boys and a girl...” Hermione blushed and Draco couldn’t help it. A huge smile spread across his face.

“That sounds perfect to me.” Hermione’s eyes widened and she turned to look up at him.

“Are we planning our future together Draco?”

“It looks like it.” He said with a grin. “I know for a fact you’ll be in it, and I like where we’re heading with those ideas. I’m sure we’ll get into specifics eventually but for now, you are definite.”

He kissed her quickly and hopped into the shower. She smiled and touched her lips, amazed at what had just happened. He called to her as she was leaving the bathroom.

“By the way, you are still moving in tonight and we ARE going to try that position.”

He peeked his head out of the shower stall door to see Hermione’s face bright red; he laughed as she stuck her tongue out at him and closed the door. He so rarely flustered her it was always fun when he succeeded.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hermione and Draco walked into the room hand in hand. The room was fairly bare with a single table in the middle of the room. Two men sat at one end of the table, both rose as they walked into the room. One man was short and pudgy with sandy brown hair, messy and shaped into a comb over. He had a large moustache that covered most of his mouth. It caused him to look incredibly serious but his dark blue eyes were soft and kind. The other man was slightly taller than Hermione with long dark red hair and brown eyes. He was slightly pale and held himself straight and almost rigid.

“Good afternoon Mr. Malfoy, Ms. Granger. I am Auror Jamison, and this is Auror Frensen.” The short blonde man indicated to Auror Frensen who nodded to them when he was introduced. Auror Jamison reached out and shook both their hands and motioned for them to sit down.

“Now, Ms. Granger, how are you feeling?” Jamison asked. Both Aurors focused on her, waiting for signs of distress.

Hermione looked at Draco and he took her hand on the table and gave it a supportive squeeze.
“Well this morning was a bit rough,” Draco chuckled at that, “but things are better now. I’m ready to talk about it.”

Both Aurors nodded.

“Can you tell us what happened?” Jamison quietly asked. His eyes met her and she saw nothing but support and patience.

“Well, Draco and I were invited to a party that my friends and family were hosting” Hermione began. “This party was going to be where we told everyone about Draco and I. Some of my friends already knew and were supportive, but we were hesitant. Draco did not have the best relationship with me or my friends when we were younger. We knew it would be difficult but I wanted to tell everyone.”

Draco squeezed her hand again, she continued.

“We arrived and walked out to meet everyone, it seemed as if it would have gone well, people were hesitant but no one drew their wands. Suddenly Ron, my ex-boyfriend saw us and lost it. He started yelling at me, calling me horrible things, and then he shoved me and walked away.”

Hermione could see Draco’s jaw tense, this time she squeezed his hand and smiled at him reassuringly.

“I couldn’t let him get away with treating me like that, so I followed him into the house intent on giving him a piece of my mind. I followed him up into his old room and started to yell at him. We started fighting, and then suddenly I was slammed against the wall...”

Hermione was quiet for a moment, though she felt secure. It was still horrific bringing this back up. She could feel her voice cracking as she continued. Draco never took his eyes off her face. He would stop her if he thought she couldn’t handle this. He simply waited and held her hand.

“He started saying things about how I was a whore. He insinuated I should be treated like one, and he hit me, several times.... He smiled through the whole thing..... Even when he was yelling at me. He ripped my shirt open and started to grope me.... I tried to beg him to stop, tried to scream... But he only hit me harder when I tried. He promised a lot worse if I made any more noise...It was horrible... Suddenly the door burst open and Ron flew across the room, Draco fought him and apparated me out of there as soon as he could.”

Auror Jamison was nodding throughout Hermione’s whole story. When she stopped he seemed lost in his thoughts. Auror Frensen hadn’t even seemed to blink or move throughout her whole story.

Jamison turned to Draco and asked him to explain his side of the story. Draco nodded, looked at Hermione and started talking. Once again he never took his eyes off her face. He wanted to make sure that if it became too much for her, he’d know right away and stop.

“Well, Hermione asked me to wait and went after Ron. I didn’t feel comfortable about that, so after about five minutes of pacing I followed her into the house. Everyone was outside so I guess they didn’t hear the shouting. I followed the noises up the stairs and down a hallway. I had almost reached the top of the stairs when I heard some bangs, and Hermione shouting out. As I got closer I heard fabric ripping and the sound of someone getting hit.
Sir, at that point I lost control, I reached the door and wandlessly blew it open and threw him across the room. I turned and saw Hermione slump to the ground, her shirt ripped open, tears running down her face, and a swollen cheek. I caught Ron before he could get back up and made sure he wouldn’t... Then I got Hermione out of there as fast as possible.”

Draco had tensed, thinking of it all again but he was shocked to hear Auror Jamison chuckle. They both turned to him wide eyed.

“Yes he certainly wasn’t able to even stand when we got to him. I’m not really supposed to say this but bravo on that. No one was upset about that I assure you; even his father didn’t seem too upset once he found out the circumstances. In case you were wondering you will not be in trouble for your defensive actions.”

Draco visibly sighed, “I had been concerned. I didn’t know whether the public or the press would believe me over Ron Weasley...”

Jamison laughed and shook his head, “You have nothing to worry about, this will not be reaching the press, and your slate is still clean.”

“Thank you Auror Jamison.”

There was an amicable silence which was suddenly broken by a soft sharp voice.

“Ms. Granger, had you done anything in the past to provoke Mr. Weasley?” Auror Frensen’s voice cut through the calm and both Hermione and Draco immediately stiffened.

“Excuse me?” Hermione’s voice full of hurt. Draco found himself standing, voice dripping with anger.

“She PROVOKED him... Provoked him... As in SHE caused this?!? What the fuck is wrong with you?! She was almost raped and you’re asking her what SHE did to cause it?! Hermione we’re leaving, this is unbelievable. I hope you PROVOKE someone to cause you some serious harm Auror Frensen.”

Draco grabbed Hermione’s hand and went to leave, wrapping his arm around Hermione who was starting to tear up. He had insinuated that it was her fault. She caused it to happen. Who would believe that? Why would anyone think that about someone? A well of hurt was erupting in Hermione; she felt shame and embarrassment wash over. What kind of man did he think she was? That she wanted this? Hermione felt a tear slide down her cheek. Draco was whispering in her ear but she couldn’t hear it. Suddenly Draco stopped and his whole body stiffened. Auror Jamison was saying something. Draco was practically growling.

“Ms. Granger I’m so sorry, that’s not how he meant it. No one would ever think anything like that. We are trying to help. Honestly we are. Please, just let him explain the question. Please Ms. Granger...”

Hermione curled into Draco; he held her close, whispering in her ear.

“Have you had enough? Do you want to go back to our room?”

Hermione shook her head and sniffled. Draco chuckled and kissed the top of her head.

“You were doing wonderfully sweetheart, come on, let’s get this over with and then we won’t have to think about it tonight when you’re moving in and... Otherwise occupied...”

Hermione looked up at him and smiled, trying not to giggle, but a shudder went through her body and Draco found himself growing hard. He needed to focus. He lead her back to the table, but this time he was closer to her and kept his arm around her, glaring at the Aurors in front of him. Auror Jamison coughed and Auror Frensen’s voice once again cut through the silence.

“Ms. Granger, Mr. Malfoy, I specialize in behavioural studies and before I interviewed you I studied Mr. Weasley, and I began to notice that he is not a violent man. Granted he can be incredibly passive aggressive, but it takes a lot for him to be violent. I asked the previous question “ Draco growled, “because in my opinion, he would not have done something like that unless he harboured immense anger over a long period of time. I am not trying to justify his actions. Truly I am not. I am simply trying to understand the situation better. Can you think of anything in the past few years that would have caused him to form some anger directed at you?”

Hermione was quiet for a few minutes; Draco began to watch her again, waiting to see any sign of stress. Auror Frensen simply studied Draco and Hermione.

“Back when Ron and I were dating, I caught him cheating on me. I made sure he suffered for that.”

Draco let out a loud guffah, but both the Aurors remained stoic and nodded.

“Please elaborate Ms. Granger” Auror Frensen said softly.

“Well... I did the usual things a woman would do, but then I got creative...” Draco laughed again at that. The Aurors simply nodded.

“I blew up all his stuff in the apartment, naturally.” All the men nodded. None of them were surprised by that.

“Then I hexed him painfully and caused him to develop a major, instant and painful erection every time someone mentioned random words, which caused him to be in incredibly awkward situations. I also hexed him to mix up everyday regular words with vulgar or swear words. That way he would have a hard time explaining his situation to get help. He would only end up offending anyone.

Also, I was already considered a daughter to his family and to his surprise they all ended up taking my side. It’s safe to say he ended up a social pariah for a long time. But he just took it all. I always thought it was because he knew he deserved it. He had made me believe we were going to get married, have kids. We had been looking at houses together and discussing our children’s names. Then I walk in on him and some slut he met at a bar.”

Draco held her tight, kissing the top of her head. Hermione leaned into him. Strangely, she never felt that concern with Draco. He was just so focused on her all the time, things also felt so much more secure with him. She would need to tell him that.

Draco was thinking of all the ways he could reassure her that he would never hurt her. That he only wanted her.

Both the Aurors nodded and Frensen turned to them.

“Thank you Ms. Granger, that makes everything make much more sense. You have been very cooperative. With this information we can start planning Mr. Weasley’s trial.”

“Thank you gentlemen.” Hermione whispered, Draco nodded to them.

They silently got up and walked out of the room, both of them determined to not let what happened ruin the wonderful evening they had planned together.
