chapter 12

Chapter 12

Harry and Hermione quickly ran to Ali’s vault as Draco stood outside waiting for them.

“Ice?” Harry asked.

“I’m back here Ash,” Ali yelled back. The three of them walked into Ali’s vault towards her voice.

“Is that Ravenclaw’s diadem?” Hermione asked.

“Yes, we knew that Moldyshorts would try and make a Horcrux out of something of Ravenclaw’s, but we didn’t know what. The question is how do we destroy it?” Draco asked.

“With this,” Harry said pulling out the sword of Gryffindor.

“So who should do it?”

“Ali, I think it should be you. Seeing as the damn thing is in your vault.”

“You sure, Harry?”

“Yep, go for it,” he said handing the sword hilt out to her.

She took the sword in her hands and got the grip tight on it. Before she struck the diadem shook itself as if something was trying to escape. Before anything else could happen Ali raised the sword and cut the diadem in half. With a scream a dark, evil smoke creature rose and vanished from the room and world forever. As the scream faded the diadem halves began to glow and fused back together shining with a completely good aura around it once again.

Once the shock of what had happened wore off Ali handed the sword back too Harry and smiled. Just then a yell of, “You all done down there. We got places and things to do.”

They all rushed out of the vault to see Bri in the forefront of a triangle formation with Fred and George.
Hermione seeing all their blood, dirt, and dust covered clothes said, “You, okay? Or should I be asking about the enemies?”

Bri smirked, “Enemies? What enemies? All I see back there are parts and things better not mentioned by the dragon who is now unchained.”

“Okay, did not need to hear that. I won’t be eating for the next century,” said Draco with a grossed out look on his face.

Bri smiled and said, “Oh, grow a hide will you, dragon. We got bigger things to worry about, like how the hell we’re gonna sneak outta here now that we’ve made such noise.”

Just then Fred and George spoke up switching on and off with their lines. Fred began though so if you kept track of that it was simple enough to figure out who was talking.

Fred said, “I think we have an idea…”

George went on, “that may help out.”

“The dragon hide Charlie sent has to settings…”

“You could change to the second and go out the back way…”

“We just found during our trip to Hell on Earth.”

Bri smirked at the group and then the twins saying, “You know what, I may keep you two around just a bit longer. That may just work. Though how are they supposed to switch the settings?”

Fred smirked, looked at George who winked, and then they both replied, “Just shake em and say ‘switch’.”

So the teens did just that the dragon hide switched to more modern clothes and they put them back on. Now they looked like slightly older versions of their earlier guises. Bri just switched into one of her regular outfits. With that done they all fell in line and left the tunnels and now sated dragon through the escape route Fred and George had found.

Bri’s fighting scene from Fred’s point of view…

I had just caught a well defined leg in my hands and found myself staring down at the girl I and my brother, my twin brother George had just met this morning. Her name was Bri or at least that’s what she went by. Harry had told us she was from America and a distant cousin of Draco’s that had been helping them train for the Final Battle to come. We already knew from Charlie she was an Order member by the codename Buffy who or whatever that was.

Before I could stop myself I was yelling, “What the Bloody Hell are you thinking, Woman!?!”

“Oh I don’t know…that I was hoping some red headed jokester could use I kick to the head…Oh just my luck I found two,” was the damn girl’s snarky reply.

“Ha ha, how do American men not fall for that so warm wit of yours, my dear?” I replied finding myself beyond worried and angry at this supposed Auror-like trained, beautiful woman for her flippancy and stupidity and I’d just met her.

“How the hell was that possible,” I thought to myself.

“Oh I don’t know I guess just lucky I guess,” she growled at me as she scissor kicked her legs and flipped out of my hold.

~Song: Won’t Back Down by Fuel~

“I have to admit she looks damn gorgeous angry and her moves are both deadly and artistically beautiful,” I thought to myself as I stepped back which also helped her with her agenda to get free just as much as it kept me from getting my face kicked in.

As she yelled at us for being there I caught George’s eye and his wink.

I knew that wink it was apart of our own special version of twin telepathy. It said, “You like her. You really like her. Me gonna tease you so bad for this later, Forgey.”

My glance and scowl towards him was my reply of, “You do, Gred and you’ll lose the other ear.”

As she yelled at us and I was caught up in my thoughts and telepathic threat George gave a slight nod of his head telling me he had seen and heard my threat and replied to her scream, “Charlie, our brother that deals with dragons, just contacted us and told us Bill and his mentor from training just told him about the dragon that guards the vaults.”

She smirked and snarked yet again, “Oh so that’s what the 50 foot lizard behind us is?”

“I’m beginning to think she likes doing that, that snark thing,” I thought as I scowled at her stupid ignorance and will, ‘that she would probably call her American independence to not conform or something like that.”

Finally I’d had enough and growled, “Will you shut it! That’s a blind Norwegian Ridgeback!”

“Oh really? Can it speak Norwegian then, I’ve always wanted to learn?”

“Yet again with the damn wit. If we didn’t need this damn woman for the fight I’d strangle her.”

“Would you two quit already? We have a ticked off dragon and Death Eaters breathing down our backs in more ways than one,” George yelled.

“He must be getting mad now. He doesn’t usually yell at me,” I thought as I looked towards him.

As I sent a comforting shrug towards him with the message, “Ok, I’ll stop bro.”

He nodded his reply and gave me a look that said, “I know your worried about her. She’s worried about her, but we don’t got time for quarrels.”

Just then we both noticed out of the corner of our eyes the dragon behind Bri getting ready to flame and heard Death Eaters running towards us. Apparently, Bri was so caught up in yelling at me that she hadn’t noticed the wind being sucked in by the dragon or hear the enemy running. We sent messages between us the way only twins can and agreed I would cover Bri and he would cover me. Though before we could move we had to dive and duck right away as the dragon shot his flame and Death Eaters shot off spells.

All I really noticed before I was on the ground laying above Bri was the heat of the fire pass over me and hear the air being knocked out of her as she hit the ground beneath me as the huge stream of fire came at us from behind where the dragon was and Death Eaters shot off spells. As I watched the spells bounce right off the dragon’s hide or be completely stopped by the fire that engulfed them I could also see Death Eaters as well as men and a few women being roasted alive, I didn’t know why that was happening to them exactly but I could guess from the markings on their faces and some of the fangs I saw that they weren’t human.

“I’ll have to ask Bri to explain that to me later on. I know she deals with weirder things than we ever learned about in her job,” I thought. As George and I watched from our positions above Bri’s prone one I noticed how well she fit me. How her curves met my angles and how we fit together pretty well. But before my thoughts could go any farther than that I spotted two bright flashes of light shoot out of the long corridor away from us that probably held the vaults the dragon behind us guarded. One red, the other blue.

I don’t know how long we all laid there, but finally the heat dispersed and Bri huffed out a breath and said, “You two gonna let me up any time in the next century. I think we’re safe for a few minutes. At least Death Eaters are smart about one thing…”

As George and I stood up and I held my hand out to help her stand holding my breath waiting for her to actually accept it George who was dusting himself off asked, “And what would that be?”

“They know not to cross a dragon.”

Despite the situation or maybe because of it we found ourselves laughing at her comment. As she took my hand and I pulled her up to her feet she smirked and winked at me and then nodded to George.

When she was standing and balanced she went to the entrance to the cavern we were in and looked into the corridor. When she looked back she was smirking.

George asked, “Well?”

“We’re good…for now,” just then she looked down at her feet and swore.

“What?” I asked worried she had hurt herself or something.

She stomped her foot like a five year old throwing a fit and grumbled, “If I’m gonna fight those Death Eater chumps I’m doing it in style damn it! I can’t believe I forgot jacket and boots that go with this. God I’m stupid!” and with that she snapped her fingers and an amazingly deep brown suede full length coat and matching boots with high heels appeared on her.

She stood admiring the look for a moment, but then she opened the coat and I caught a glimpse of a sword belt with sheath as well as other sharp weapons as well as small vials of liquids of all colors and consistencies along with stakes and other fighting implements. She took two vials out of the coat lining and brought them over to George and I.

As she handed them to us she explained what they were and what they were for, “Ok, boys you’re getting your first lesson in fighting the baddies the American witch way. First off, you see anything with a marking, a weird appendage, mask or arm band of any kind you throw these…”

As she handed George a small glass vial of a watery liquid of a blue-green color she said, “This is to freeze them…” and as she handed me a vial of a deep red color with an ink consistency she replied, “This is to blow their asses up, got it!”

We nodded our heads and asked together like everyone expects twins to talk, “These people we’ll be freezing and blowing apart, what are they exactly?”

She got a deadly serious look in her eyes and replied, “Demons. Not the normal thing you find in school books. I learned of them from my mother who learned from her mother and so on. I got my real training in them when I went for Hunter training and had a chance in encounter with ‘The Sisters’.”

“Who are The Sisters?” George asked.

“Oh, that’s everyone good or bad call the Charmed Ones. I’ll explain when we got more time, which right now we don’t. Get ready.”

Just then she turned around so fast a gust of wind blew her coat around her and faced the new wave of Death Eaters and what things we now knew as demons. We stood behind her side by side with wands and vials at the ready as the dragon lie back in wait, almost as if he or she was waiting for us to provide it with an opening so it could help us in this fight.

Bri grabbed a vial out of her coat of a thick yellow color in her left and her sword in her right. Just as some very ugly demon with horns coming out of its foreheads and strange markings on one side of its face came running in she threw the vial and it broke right on the demon’s chest area. Where the creature began to burst into flame which spread throughout the demon’s body and it blew up in a burst of flame and body parts that turned to ash.

As George and I were dodging spells and throwing our own Bri had done a one-handed cartwheel and was fighting against some demon with a blade on its arm. When she struck it through the stomach it burst into flame and exploded. Leaving her to fight hand to hand against wizards and witches who had wands and their evil allies.
“She moved across the room with such grace, her movements came so naturally to her. She was lovely and dangerous. Her every movements were aimed to either knock out or instantly kill who or what she was fighting,” is all I kept thinking.

I watched as she staked a vampire through the heart and twirled to stake another running at her. “She was a deadly weapon wrapped in a woman’s beauty and grace,” I thought to myself.

She had just done a backflip to get away from a high kick by one Asian looking demoness. They were throwing kicks and punches at each other in an almost choreographed dance kind of way. If this fight wasn’t life or death and I wasn’t busy throwing spells at Death Eaters as I covered my brother’s back as he got closer to throw off more spells I would have thought it quite entertaining. Suddenly she did some kind of movement while putting her legs on the demoness’s shoulders and twisted her body dropping to the ground making it so the demoness’s body had no other choice but to follow her body’s movements and do an unwanted cartwheel and fall to the floor with a thud.

As the demoness was struggling to get up Bri did a strange movement using her hands as an anchor. She rose herself off the ground splitting her legs to either side of her and then brought them together behind her. Touching them down to the floor as she brought herself to a standing position with arms raised. As I shot a spell off stunning one Death Eater, George used his vial of potion. With the demon frozen to his spot George shot off a cutting spell cutting the demon’s head off, which made the body burst into flame from the head’s usual spot down and then he and his disconnected head blew.

Just then the dragon roared and everyone enemy and alley alike tried to dodge as best they could. As the flame receded and I rose up on my feet a body slammed into mine and I landed flat on my back beneath Bri. She had tackled me down and once I was on the ground jumped up to her feet and grabbing for my would be attacker. She grabbed the now demasked Death Eater woman by her cloak and swung her around slamming her into a nearby debris boulder. As she walked back to me she spoke calmly, “You okay, Red?”

“Yeah,” I replied as I dusted myself off.

“Good, I hate to babysit you while I have to work.”

Just then I spotted a demon running towards us and threw the potion she gave me over her shoulder at him. She turned to see the enemy at her back and as the potion looked as if it was going to make the demon explode it stopped. That’s when she yelled, “Get down!”

As she hit the ground she pulled me with her just as the demon exploded in a shower of a bluish goo. When it was over we rose brushing as much of the dust and goo off. I was going to ask what the stuff was just as she spoke to no one in particular, “God, I hate when they blow their guts and parts like that. Now I’m gonna have to get a new outfit, damn!”

When she finally spotted my grossed face and said, “Oh come off it, that doesn’t happen every often. Just with the lower level demons that are almost nothing in their underworld. Trust me. Its the upper level demons you gotta worry about. The only way to get rid of those pains is with a spell, sometimes a special vanquishing potion or both if they’re really up there.”

Just as she finished her speech and George met up with us in the slight reprieve we seemed to be getting as the enemy retreated to regroup a clapping sound came out of the air around us and began to echo. The dragon was fighting with its chains and growling menacingly as a form stepped out of thin air clapping and looking right at Bri.

I could hear her gritting her teeth beside me and her voice was deadly calm when she spoke, “Draksin, what do I own this non-pleasure to? Finally, decided to save the world from your despicable and slimy self.”

“Oh, now dear its always a pleasure for me to see you on the battlefield, you know that. No, my dear I feel I must grace the world with my own brand of darkness for a great while. I hope you don’t mind, my dear?” as this man replied back to her with a dark sophistication and calmness as if he were just talking about the weather instead of good and evil battling it out.

As he stepped yet closer to her and tried to touch her cheek with an intimate caress I found myself stepping in front of her staring down this man and almost growling deep in throat at him like a predatory animal trying to protect what was his. The man stopped his movement and looked down at me from his tall stature and grinned. A grin that got my hackles raised even more. It was the kind of grin that said ‘oh my little boy stop playing at things you nothing about’ and if there was one thing I hated it was people thinking I couldn’t handle myself.
Then he just smirked and looked right at Bri as he remarked, “Oh, I see you have your own little fan club now. How would your predecessor feel about that my dear Abrianna? Or shall I say Buffy?”

Before I could jump in with a cutting remark to this man she stepped ahead of me touching my arm just a bit as if to say I got this and replied, “She’d be proud. You flying sack of bat shit! What the hell are you doing here? Besides about to get your ass kicked right back to the rock you came out from hiding under.”

“Oh, now dear that isn’t very polite conversation for two civilized people such as us.”

“People? I can tell you now I’m human, you on the other hand…you’re a dirt pile waiting to happen.”

“Why you little…” the man began as he grew angry with her.

“What…bitch? Why thank you, I take great care to be one.”

Just then he showed his true form with a growl and grabbed at Bri. Pulling her to him he whispered something to her which made her eyes grow wide in fear and then a look of such utter sadness and pain passed over her face George and I almost missed it. As quickly as it appeared it was replaced by such anger and rage we stepped back.

Bri grabbed Draksin’s coat labels and maneuvered to knee him where no man dead or not wants to be kicked. As he let go of her and dropped to his knees with a gasp she stepped back with a simple ‘Bastard’.

Suddenly he began to laugh coldly and said, “What dear want to kill me now? Oh, wait you can’t, can you? You don’t have that instinct that Blaine did, that instinct that made killing a simple thing. Why is that again…oh yes, conscious, you have a soul don’t you. Blaine never really did, he tried but he never felt free restrained as you humans are with your right and wrong, that is until I got to him…” and with this he began laughing even more.

Suddenly Bri kicked him right in the face and he crumbled to the ground unconscious.

~Song ends~.

All three of us were silent for a moment, but then Bri took up her sword which had dropped in the fighting and went to face the dragon. It dropped its head to the ground as if to look at her and she stared right back saying, doing nothing. Then it blinked slowly and rumbled within its huge body and raised its head to the ceiling and crouched like a cat sometimes does with its chained legs out in front of it and its wings close to its body.

We watched holding our breaths as Bri took a centering breath and rose the sword above her head. George and I thought she was going to do a simple downward strike, but she didn’t, instead she spun in a circle letting the sword fall diagonally from the upper right to lower left. Striking one of the thick chain links creating a deep scratch and then she struck again this to the other chain creating another deep gash. This done she put her sword away and did a strange movement with her hands and the chains exploded in a shimmering of metal and power, but weren’t completely broke we saw once the air cleared.

She huffed and swore under her breath and looked to the dragon and said as if talking to just another person, “Yeah, yeah I know it didn’t work. It was a try though. Guess I’m gonna have to come up with a spell on the spot, crap. Give me a sec, ok.”

As Bri stood silent staring at the chains in thought George and I walked around talking the way only twins can without words when suddenly George stopped and pointed. When I turned I stood gapping, there in front of us was a huge tunnel leading right to the street. The street was a ways off , but you could hear people moving around. I looked at George raising my eyebrow at him saying, “How the hell did that happen?”

He shrugged at me and looked around with a smirk saying, “I don’t know, maybe the fighting?”

Just then the dragon let out another rumbling roar and spread its wings fully as it lifted itself to its full sitting height and stretched out its front legs. The chains were broken and falling link by link off the dragon.

At this we smirked and looked at each other saying to each other at the same time, “It’s the dragon’s tunnel!”
Just as the dragon’s roar was clearing we heard another blood-chilling scream and each of us turned towards the corridor that throughout the fight we had guarded from letting Death Eaters go down. Bri looked at us and we nodded to the look in her eyes and ran that way as fast as we could. As we left the cavern behind Bri looked back and smirked.

As we ran I looked over at her wondering how she had been able to do wordless magic like that. I had thought only Harry and Ali could so I asked her before I could chicken out, because I must admit at least to myself the girl scares me.

I turned to her and asked, “Bri, how come you can do wordless magic?”

She stopped abruptly and looked down at the floor mumbling so I could barely catch it, “I can’t. I have to say a spell under my breath or in my head.”

As I watched her shake herself mentally I smiled and said, “Oh, ok. Maybe you could show me sometime. I have some pretty neat jokes that would be perfect if I could do that.”

With this remark she laughed softly and we began to run towards the vaults again.

When we came to the vault that the scream had come from we noticed it was the Ravenclaw vault. As the scream subsided Bri just smiled and shook her head and yelled out, “You all done down there. We got places and things to do.”

In the next moment Harry, Hermione, Malfoy, and Ali all rushed out of the vault.

Hermione seeing all of us covered in blood, dirt, dust and other fluids better not mentioned covered clothes worriedly asked, “You, okay? Or should I be asking about the enemies?”

Bri smirked at them all and replied, “Enemies? What enemies? All I see back there are parts and things better not mentioned being munched on by the dragon who is now unchained thanks to my own spell might I add.”

“Okay, did not need to hear that. I won’t be eating for the next century,” said Draco with a grossed out look on his face which made George and I smirk as well.

“Who would have known a Malfoy had a soft stomach, though the thought of watching the dragon munch on body parts isn’t a very nice thought. I wonder if it’ll just chew or actually eat? Whoa why am I thinking that, ewwwww!” I thought to myself as I shared a look with George who gave me a look saying I thought the same thing too.

Bri smiled and said, “Oh, grow a hide will you, dragon. We got bigger things to worry about, like how the hell we’re gonna sneak outta here now that we’ve made so much noise.”

Just then George and I spoke up switching on and off with our lines wishing to share our discovery with everyone. I began our little twin speech as we silently agreed that I would.

I said, “I think we have an idea…”

George went on, “that may help out.”

“The dragon hide Charlie sent has to settings…”

“You could change to the second and go out the back way…”

“We just found during our trip to Hell on Earth.”

Bri smirked at the group and then turned to us saying, “You know what, I may keep you two around just a bit longer. That may just work. Though how are they supposed to switch the settings?”

I smirked, looked at George who winked at me, and then we both replied, “Just shake em and say ‘switch’.”

With a laugh shared by all, the group did ‘switch’ looks. While Bri switched into just one of her regular outfits that made my body react deceivingly. The outfit was amazing on her. The pants were hip hugger dark blue jeans with boot cut legs that she wore a slim black and bejeweled belt with. Her boots were black, thick high heeled boots that had zippers up the insides I noticed. Though I only noticed because I could see the zipper just peaking out from under her jeans. Her shirt must have been one of those high fashion shirts girls like to wear. It was a deep pink almost deep red lacy tank top with floral designs and a undershirt of a slightly brighter color. “It hugs her in all the right places,” I thought as I looked on against my will. “She’s drop dead gorgeous and deadly to boot.”

I heard Ali ask her who made it and she replied Moschino Cheap and Chic. Whoever the hell they were.

I wondered why she wore such expensive stuff to fight in and how she could afford it, but then I remembered Harry had told us she owned a night club near Salem. I guess when you live out on the east coast of the United States and are your own boss like me and George are you can afford high fashion clothes.

I’m thankful the only one who noticed was George and as we headed out towards the tunnel he ribbed me to get my mind off how she looked and my other problem so no one would notice. Once we reached the tunnel I was back to normal or as normal as a man can be in these kind of situations. So I followed the others with George by my side now out to the street…
