Chapter 15

Blinding Discoveries

Harry followed Draco back up to their rooms and sat on Draco’s bed. Draco stood in front of him and smiled, “Stop worrying about it Harry, even if I decide not to pursue our relationship, you will find someone else to be with.”

Harry’s eyes widened a little at Draco’s words, and he bit his lip hard when he felt the tears building up in his eyes. Having Draco say that there was a chance that he wouldn’t pursue a relationship with him made his heart ache. There would be no one else for Harry, he couldn’t picture loving anyone, half as much as he loved Draco. But instead of voicing his thoughts, Harry stayed silent, biting his lip to keep the tears at bay.

“Are you listening Harry?” Draco asked softly and Harry took a quick deep breath and looked up at Draco.

“Yea, I know Draco, it’s just been a long year for me. I just feel really tired right now, if you don’t mind I think I will go to bed.” Harry stood up and gave Draco a quick kiss on the cheek before walking out of his room and closing the door that connected them.

Harry laid on his bed, trying to keep all of the thoughts from circling around in his head. This wasn’t the way he wanted to start his visit at the manor, and now Harry was almost sure that Draco was going to tell Harry that they couldn’t have a relationship, and that he was just putting it off until the end of the trip so things wouldn’t get weird between them.

Harry looked up at the ceiling and his heart ached when he couldn’t see the stars. He stood up quickly from the bed, he had to get outside, he had to see the stars, he had to talk to them. He grabbed his cloak and draped it over him and walked down the many halls and stairs until he was on the first floor. He went out the front doors and looked around for a good place to go and sit. He started to walk through the multiple gardens and finally came across a small pound. He sat down by it and looked up at the sky, something in him shuddered in relief when he saw the twinkling stars above him.

He put a heating charm on the cloak and then laid it on top of him. “He doesn’t love me...did you ever have to deal with that dad? Or was the first person you fell in love with mom? I don’t know how to deal with the pain, I’m sure now that he is going to reject me, and then I will be alone…because Severus has Lucius now, and he doesn’t need me. Ron has Hermione, and Draco will have whomever he wants. You guys are dead, and Remus…well Remus is probably still grieving over his lost lover.

“I don’t know what to do….I wish you guys could help me, I wish you guys could talk to me.” Harry didn’t bother holding the tears back as the fell down his face, he let his eyes close, and fell asleep.

When he woke up the sun was out and birds were chirping. He sat up and winced at the stiffness in his back. He stood up and took his cloak off and then started to walk back to the manor. When he got to the front door he didn’t know what to do, he would feel weird if he just walked in, but it would be ever weirder for him to knock and have Lucius answer it.

Harry stood at the front door for a couple of minutes before deciding to just walk in. He opened the door and poked his head inside, when he saw that no one was around he walked in and silently closed the door. He walked back up to his room and went through his door. He was surprised to see Draco, Lucius, and Severus waiting in his room and he dropped the cloak in surprise.

Severus looked at him and swept over to him, “If you think that you can just walk out of here Mr. Potter, without informing anyone else, you are sorely mistaken.” Harry winced at the anger in Severus’ voice and he saw the worry plastered on Draco’s and the aggravation on Lucius’. Harry didn’t know what to say, and felt like fidgeting. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself?” Severus asked and Harry felt anger surge through him. Severus wasn’t his father after all. Harry glared at him and Severus looked a little surprised. “Where I was last night sir, was none of your business. However I will apologize to Mr. Malfoy for not asking his permission to walk in his gardens, and even apologize to him for not leaving a note saying that I had gone. But I will say nothing to you sir, because you , are nothing to me, not even my gracious host.” And then with one final look at the shocked faces in the room Harry turned around, pulled his cloak around him, and started to leave.

When he got outside again he didn’t know what to do, he could leave, send a letter form Hogwarts, telling them all that was where he was, asking them nicely to send all of his things over to him. He knew they would, but didn’t want to make Draco made. He sighed and kicked the nearest rock, ignoring the pain in his foot. He sat down on the steps that led up to Malfoy Manor and threw the cloak off. The door opened and closed behind him and Draco sat down next to him.

“What’s wrong Harry?” Draco’s voice was laced with concern and Harry felt touched by it.

“Nothing Draco, I…I’m just tired.”

Draco scoffed at that, “You upset Severus, you should go and talk to him.”

Harry shook his head, “No, what I said was true Draco. He’s not even family, I *have* no family left Draco, only muggles who hate me and want me dead.”

“…We could be your family.” Draco offered softly and Harry sighed deeply.

“No Draco, you couldn’t.” Harry stood up again and walked back in the house and back up to his room. He was a little annoyed to see Severus and Lucius still in there. Lucius walked over to him and Harry was alarmed by the anger in his eyes. It reminded him of Vernon and he cowered a little in front of him. “If you do not apologize to him right this minute Mr. Potter, you will regret ever coming to my house.”

Harry’s back hit the wall and Lucius was still advancing on him dangerously. His mind kept flashing back to the night with Vernon, and he kept telling himself that Lucius Malfoy was not Vernon Dursley, but his mind just kept saying that Lucius would do the same thing Vernon did, and not even have the excuse of alcohol on his side. Harry’s face must’ve betrayed his emotions because Lucius stopped and backed away from him, looking a little pale.

Harry let his body slid against the wall and onto the floor, he had never felt so drained in his life. He was faintly aware of something wet falling down his face, but he was trying to much to give into the darkness that seemed to be calling him. He heard muffled voices above him and some noise behind him. Finally he was lifted into strong warm arms and he felt his body convulse. He tried to tell whomever it was to let him go, that he would be ok, but it only came out as a soft whimper.

He was laid into a softy bed and he let his eyes trail slowly to Severus’ face which was laced with worry. Harry tried to give him a reassuring smile, tried to tell him that he was just tired, that he just needed to sleep. But the darkness over took him before he could get it out and he couldn’t help but fall back into it.
