Epilogue Three: The Duke and Duchess of Suffolk


Fourteen Months Later

Amelia wondered if she was making the right decision as she stepped out of the carriage. It had been a long year since she told Draco she was leaving, and he hadn’t dare come after her. It was only after Victoria had come to visit her, with a babe in her arms did she realize just how much she wanted him to come after her.

She wanted him to know just how much he had hurt her and how it had broken her heart. She knew she shouldn’t of gone with the two Weasleys, but she couldn’t think of anything but revenge at the time. She had needed somebody to make her feel desirable, to feel like she did before she gave birth to hers, and Draco’s daughter.

She loved Angelique more than anything in the world, but since she had been born things had started to wane in her marriage. It seemed as if Draco was afraid to touch her, like she was fragile. She wanted to show him that she was anything but.

Catching Draco had been the last resort and she couldn’t cope with life at the palace, and she had returned to their home in Suffolk. Ten months after she had arrived, Victoria had arrived with the newest Malfoy heir in her arms, pleading with Amelia to return to court. She had refused at the time, and made her piece with Victoria, but asked her not to ask her to return the place that had caused her so much heartache.

What surprised Victoria the most was the new born son in Amelia’s arms. Scorpius Draco Malfoy was barely more than a month old.

Amelia had arrived home and barely noticed her symptoms as she care for her daughter, until she realized she had missed three monthly bleeds. Being a witch herself, she had cast the pregnancy charm, her tutor Albus Dumbledore. had taught her. Sure enough she was pregnant with her second child. She cursed the day Draco Malfoy was born.

She wept until she could weep no more; she had another child to nourish and care for now. She had bloomed, and grown and in time given birth to a beautiful boy, who was the image of his father. She had longed for Draco all the way through her pregnancy and cried through the whole time she was giving birth.

She cradled her son close to her as she walked through the palace, people were occasionally sending her greeting until she reached their apartments. The guard let her through, and she opened the door to their sitting room, and stepped through.

Draco was sitting in a chair by the fire; his back toward the door. She could make out the slump of his shoulders as he swirled a gold liquor round in a glass.

“Hello, Draco,” she said softly.

She saw him stiffen in his chair.

“I’m hearing things,” he muttered.

“You’re not,” she replied.

He turned around, his eyes wide as he zoned in on the bundle in her arms.

“You have a new child?” he said, his voice hoarse.

“Yes we do,” she smiled, as she opened the blanket to show him his son.

“We?” he asked.

“We,” she confirmed as she placed Scorpius in his arms, “This is your son, Draco, this is Scorpius Draco Malfoy,”

“A son,” he whispered as he looked at body, who was the image of him, right down to the platinum hair and grey eyes.

“I’m sorry I didn’t come back,” she said as held their son.

“I’m sorry for hurting you,” he admitted.

“What’s done is done, forget the past and let’s embrace the future,” she asked and he nodded.

“Together?” he asked.

“Together.” she confirmed.
