One Sweet Day

Draco stopped Harry when he would have bolted. "It's daylight, and we're close to the edge of the Forest," he whispered. "If we can't take it, we'll get out of here then."

Harry nodded, but moved closer to him, drawing his wand just in case. A moment later, he was immensely glad he'd listened to Draco as a blindingly white unicorn stepped through the bushes and into view. Draco breathed in sharply, barely believing what he was seeing, and Harry smiled. "Wow," he whispered. The mare stepped forward, looking at them with a puzzled expression. Harry felt like she was asking them why they were there, and stepped forward.

"We're from the castle," he said softly.

"Harry!" Draco hissed, but Harry waved him off, not breaking eye contact.

The white mare tossed her head, her mane sparkling in the sunshine, and stamped her foot. She emanated beauty, grace, and wisdom, and Harry was completely dumbfounded when she stepped forward and pressed her nose to his cheek, inhaling his scent. She blew his hair back, and he tentatively reached up, running a hand along her arched neck. She pranced a little in place, and nudged him harder, nearly knocking him over. He scratched gently, moving his hand up to her ear, and rubbed it. To his surprise, she began making a thrumming sound deep in her chest that rattled him. Beside him, Draco cautiously placed his hand on her nose. "May I?" he asked, and she sniffed at him, before all but shoving her nose at him. He smiled widely, stroking her gently. Harry turned wide green eyes on him.

"This has been the best day of my life," he whispered, then turned to the mare. "Thank you."

"Thank you," Draco echoed, and she nuzzled them both once more, tapping their shoulders with her horn before lumbering off into the forest in the direction she'd been going.

Harry gasped. "Draco, she's pregnant!" he said excitedly, just noticing the buldge around her midsection. "Gods and angels..."

"Come on," Draco said. "Let's go back inside."
