Draco sighed as he stared out the window. It was a rainy night; the breeze was cool, but it felt perfect to him.
Three months ago, he had written to Potter and still there was no answer. Sometimes Draco wanted to give up, but something in him wouldn’t allow it. At one time he thought maybe Potter was ignoring his letter, another time he figured that maybe his letter didn’t make it. Perhaps Potter was dead; he just hadn’t heard the news in the Prophet yet. Perhaps Potter was having troubles sending his response back. There were so many possibilities.
But, just as Draco was about to give up, something caught his eye. Excitement mounting, he opened the window and watched in the rain-streaked sky as a small, white dot came closer and closer.
The wind was whipping the owl around, making it hard to fly straight. Feeling sorry for it, Draco took out his wand and Summoned the owl to him.
It was indeed Hedwig, and she had a letter in her beak. The front of the envelope had the unmistakable, untidy handwriting of Harry Potter.
Draco could breathe again.
