The Best Laid Plans...
:::::::::
Severus Snape jerked in his sleep, then slowly opened his eyes as the four AM tempus alarm he had set earlier buzzed in his head.
Severus blinked several times, and once again cursed his former friend and now poltergeist Lucius Malfoy and (for some god forsaken reason) the phantom of Lord Voldermort for showing up at Hogwarts and causing difficulties.
He would have been able to lounge in bed another good two hours if it hadn’t been for trying to keep a handle on what those two fiends might be up to.
Grumbling inside; Severus slowly managed to extricate himself from the warm limbs that belonged to his bedmate Narcissa Malfoy. Once he was loose he silently dressed himself, grabbed his wand and gingerly pulled his copy of the book, “Things that go BUMP in the night.” out of his dressing table, hissing when the drawer he had hidden it in creaked and almost gave him away.
Narcissa mumbled in her sleep, but then she buried her head deeper in the pillows and slipped back to the land of Nod with a soft sigh. She looked like an angel lying there. Long golden hair fanned out like sunshine in the otherwise dark room and the pale porcelain beauty of her features made Severus’ heart beat faster. He was still in awe that someone so perfect could possible want to be with him.
Creeping to the bed he placed a gentle kiss on the perfect pink bow lips of his lover before finally exiting the room and heading out down the corridor to his classroom.
He hadn’t even had any coffee yet, and now he had to deal with these two. It was inhumane, was what it was. Severus grumbled about his lack of sleep and the pitiful lack of caffeine in his system all the way there.
He pushed open the heavy oak door to his classroom and stepped into the room.
“Malfoy?” Severus hissed as his eyes scanned the room. He still hadn’t been able to bring himself to directly address his former dark lord yet.
He felt a small push against his shoulder and sighed with relief. At least Lucius was here. “Is Riddle with you? Wait….” He pulled the book from underneath his arm. “Where are you Lucius?”
Again, a gentle shove to his shoulder. Severus pulled his wand. “I found a spell that should allow me to see you and hear you.” He said. “Stand still.”
Moving his wand in first a vertical and then a horizontal dance up and down the space that it seemed Malfoy had pushed him from Severus intoned. “Revealus Consolidus!’
For a moment nothing happened, then it seemed as though the air shimmered silver and a form appeared just for a second. Severus looked down at the book. Ahhhh.. He had forgotten. This spell required that you knew at least the name of the spirit you were conjuring.
He tried again. Swish. Flick. “Revealus Consolidus Malfoy!’
Again the air shimmered, but this time instead of fading the shimmer grew to a blur and then finally gathered enough light to itself that the incorporeal form of Lucius stood out in stark relief against the darkness.
Severus felt his heart jump. “Lucius.” He breathed.
Lucius Malfoy did indeed stand before him. Only a shade of the true Lucius of course but still most definitely Lucius. For a moment the ghost just stared down at its now clearly visible form, but then it lifted its eyes to meet those of its long time friend. “Severus.” It whispered.
Severus nodded. It was all he could do as he was fairly certain that no sound could escape past the huge lump he suddenly had lodged in his throat.
Lucius long blond hair seemed to be made of moonlight in his current form. Even now his eyes gleamed with the burning intelligence that was so much a part of the elder Malfoy.
He stepped closer to Severus and laid one shining hand on his shoulder. “I have missed you my friend.” Lucius said softly.
Severus finally found his voice. “I have missed you too Lucius.” He murmured, still a little stunned. The dark haired man had to shake his head to clear it. “Where is Lord Voldermort?”
Lucius shook his head. “I’m not sure actually.” He winked at Severus. “He said he had had enough Malfoy to last him at least three lifetimes and he was going for a walk around the castle to think for awhile.”
Severus’ eyes went wide. “No need to worry Sev.” Lucius grinned at his friends obvious disbelief. “There is no more Lord Voldermort. Only the ghost of Tom Riddle, and I doubt he’s up to much mischief.”
Lucius smiled at his friends doubtful look. “Its true.” He reassured Severus. “He’s spent most of the time we’ve been here telling me to behave.”
Severus let out a breath he hadn’t even realized he’d been holding. “What could he possibly need to think about?” He said. “He’s not plotting anything is he?”
“Actually no.” Lucius said thoughtfully. “I suppose he wanted some privacy to mull over what the meaning of that might be.”
The ghost turned and pointed to the blackboard where the word, “REDEMPTION” still remained in big bold letters. “It just appeared out of nowhere earlier when Tom and I were discussing why we might be here.”
“Redemption?” Severus scowled. “For the two of you? For what? And granted by whom?”
Lucius shook his head. “We’ve been trying to figure that out since the word first appeared.”
“But why would….” Severus began, but halted as the scritch.. scritch… scritch began once again at his blackboard. “Are you doing that Lucius?”
Lucius Malfoy calmly shook his head no.
“Is Riddle?” Severus inquired hesitantly.
Again, a negative response from Lucius. “Then who?”
“I have my suspicions.” Lucius chewed his bottom lip. “But we really don’t know.”
Together the two of them read the message that had been left on the board.
“Well.” Said Severus. “At least they’re being clear about what’s required.”
Lucius nodded. “But how can we possibly do that?”
There on the board was the second clue to the puzzle of why Lucius Malfoy and Tom Riddle had been brought to Hogwarts by unseen forces.
REDEMPTION is not granted. The message read plainly. It is EARNED.
Draco Malfoy-Potter awoke as usual to his early morning wake up call for the bathroom. It took a little struggling, but he finally managed to disentangle his body from the clingy embrace of his vampire husband, and heave himself up off of the bed to stumble towards the bathroom.
Harry Potter-Malfoy grumbled at the loss of contact as his mate left him, and rolled to his side to watch as Draco made his way out of the bedroom and into the adjoining bath.
Harry yawned as he watched his blond husband weave his way out. Groggily, he wondered when Draco’s hair had gotten so long. It nearly reached to between his husbands shoulder blades. With a groan he pushed himself up into a sitting position. He might as well use the toilet too since he was awake. Maybe after they were through he could convince Draco to shed some of the clothing and give him a proper cuddle.
The Gryffindor vampire sat for a moment on the side of their bed to allow his spouse time to finish properly.
Draco winced as a particularly hard kick had him waddling faster towards the loo.
Unfortunately for him it seemed as though his twins had jointly decided that five AM was the perfect time to turn his bladder into their own private trampoline. Draco rubbed his swollen tummy as he hurried towards relief, hoping to settle the babies down and keep the kicking to a minimum until he could actually reach the toilet.
Finally, he found himself standing before the porcelain bowl and with a sleepy sigh of contentment he reached inside to begin the business of relieving what was quickly becoming an almost painful pressure. Gingerly he felt around, looking for his penis in the dark of the room.
Still half asleep, Draco merely grumbled when he couldn’t find the sought after appendage.
Indeed, it wasn’t until his fingers slid into the tender opening he now had between his legs that his eyes popped wide open and the lights in the room flared to life, courtesy of wild magic, as the Prince of Slytherin experienced a moment of sheer icy terror.
Desperately he rummaged around in the pajama bottoms he had been wearing underneath his dress robes. Nothing.
Holy fuck!
Fighting back a scream, Draco jerked the dress robes up out of the way and snatched the elastic band of his pajamas as far out as he could get it.
It was a masterful feat of contortion fueled by pure panic that allowed Draco to shove his whole head and arms down his pants despite his bulging belly. Nothing.
Draco shakily stood back up clutching the front of his dress shirt blindly. Suddenly, he realized that the front of the shirt wasn’t the only thing he was clutching.
Afraid to look and afraid not to; Draco slowly pulled the collar of the shirt foreword and peeked down to find his worst fears to be confirmed.
Sweet Merlin! There were mounds of flesh affixed to his chest! Rather large mounds of flesh at that!
Harry Potter-Malfoy yawned and ran a hand through his tangled mass of hair as he stepped into the bathroom, then froze at the sight of the beautiful pregnant woman standing there dressed in his husbands clothing.
“Who are....?” Harry sputtered, and then froze again as the answer became obvious.
Her shoulder length platinum blonde hair and the big gray eyes staring back at him from his spouses sharp features left little doubt that this creature could be no other than his beloved mate, Draco Malfoy-Potter.
The Gryffindor vampires mouth hung wide open in astonishment. Harry had always thought that Draco would make an attractive female, but even he was stunned at how bloody gorgeous his husband was as a woman.
They just stood gaping at each other for a moment in shock.
“Harry!” A high pitched voice shrilly squeaked as the blonde found a voice. “My winkie is gone!”
Well… what does one say to that?
It was only the preternatural speed of the vampire that allowed Harry to catch his love as Draco abruptly fainted dead away.
Harry gathered an unconscious blonde into his arms and hurried back to lay her on their bed. As soon as he was sure his spouse wasn’t going to move; he hustled over to the fire place and placed a hysterical floo call to Madame Pomfrey.
The medi-nurse assured him that she would be there as soon as she was dressed.
After that call ended, Harry placed a second, equally hysterical call to the rooms of Severus Snape and Narcissa Malfoy.
As soon as he was finished thoroughly upsetting everyone that he possibly could, Harry rushed back to their bedside to check on his unconscious mate.
The figure of a completely male Draco Malfoy-Potter groaned, and slowly fluttered his eyelids open to stare up at his blatantly goggling spouse.
Narcissa Malfoy cursed under her breath as she hurried down the corridor towards her lovers classroom. It seemed that every time she needed him lately she had to go drag him out of that room.
Spotting a light through the window she didn’t even bother to knock. She pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside with no warning.
“Sev!” The angry complaint she had been about to deliver faded to a tiny gurgle in the back of her throat, as her eyes went wide at the sight of her guilty looking lover standing directly across from the ghost of her dead husband.
“Lucius…” Was all Narcissa was able to strangle out before she followed the example set by her son a little earlier and passed out cold.
Luckily for her, both Lucius and Severus moved quickly enough that they caught her as she crumpled boneless to the floor.
Meanwhile. In a hidden room that few knew about, off a rarely used walkway in Gryffindor tower; a character out of a nightmare sat and mumbled plans to the two young people it had gathered to its side to fulfill a most heinous purpose.
“Harry Potter betrayed all Gryffindor’s by choosing the enemy over all of you.” It hissed furiously. “Draco Malfoy deserted Slytherin to become Potter’s whore.”
The two young ones. One male and one female glanced at each other nervously.
“But..” The female began, only to be cut off as the monster before them hissed again.
“There are no buts!” It declared firmly. “You know what you must do!”
“Taking their babies though.” The boy said hesitantly.
“Those babies will, without doubt, be the most powerful wizards ever to live.” A slow evil grin crossed the beast face. “I can easily possess one of them and live again once I’ve ripped its soul out. I will, of course, destroy the other, but with the power of the one I will be able to take over the wizarding world.” Glowing feral eyes swept over the children trembling before it. “Then you shall both rule beside me.”
