Down at the Pitch
Chapter 15: Down at the Pitch
The sky was midnight blue and starless as Ginny Weasley peeked out from behind the tall Quidditch stands watching a certain Gryffindor glide, swoop, and dive in midair on his broom. His scarlet cape billowed out behind him as he soared through the air at extravagant heights far above his team mates, trying to catch a glimpse of the Snitch, a tiny winged golden ball.
The Gryffindor Seeker was in his element when he was on his broom. It seemed that the whole world slipped away when Harry could soar through the air, feeling it flow through and ruffle his raven hair.
Ginny's heart pounded and almost jumped in her throat as Harry dove towards the ground, swerving past his team mates at a terrifying speed. The red headed girl cringed, holding her hand to her chest, gripping the soft material of her tight green sweater, and just when she thought Harry was going to collide with the ground, he pulled and shot back up into the air until he was once again soaring around above the other players, making elegant turns and small dives.
Harry hovered just above his team mates, watching the Chasers practice the Porskoff Ploy, speeding upward with the Quaffel, a reddish brown ball with Gripping Charms, then dropping it to another Chaser. Then just as Harry barely missed taking a bludger, a black ball charmed to hit any near by players, to the head, he spotted a golden gleam out of the corner of his eye.
Moving at lightening speed, the raven haired Seeker raced after the Snitch.
Ginny wore a wide grin as she watched him glide with such grace and speed through the air that she doubted the Chudley Cannons Seeker could fly better. It really was enthralling to watch him in his glory chasing after the tiny golden ball.
Crouched down close to his broom, with one hand out stretched, Harry dashed, speeding, his finger tips just centimeters away from the winged ball. The Snitch made a dangerous nose dive that ended up working to Harry's advantage as he hugged close to his Firebolt and darted, speeding fast though the dive, and caught the Snitch, covering it with his large hand.
After about an hour of watching Harry catch and release the Snitch, Ginny watched as the Gryffindor Team swooped down to the ground, and made their way into the locker room, patting each other on the back, and discussing excited ideas for different plays.
Briskly the sexy Gryffindor walked over, and stood behind a wide oak tree, piering behind it watching as the various players exited at different times. To Ginny's great pleasure, all of the Gryffindor team had departed from the locker room except one. Harry.
Sleekly she made her way over to the locker room, her silky black skirt clinging to her hips that were swaying gracefully as she walked, determined to make Harry see her as more than just Ron's little sister.
She came to a stop right outside the wooden doors, and just stared. Her heart drummed wildly against her chest, and her throat felt dry.
'Do I have the strength to do this? What if he rejects me? What if he avoids me, and never talks to me again?' she thought as her stomach did flips inside her.
Her nervous thoughts were violently interrupted as the wooden door swung swiftly open, and a large body crashed into her, causing her fall to the ground, sending the other body toppling down on top of her, almost knocking the wind out of her.
Piering up, her eyes connected with a pair of emerald green ones staring down at her from behind rounded glasses. Then before she knew what she was doing, Ginny grabbed the sides of Harry Potter's face, and crushed her lips to his.
Harry was stunned still and wide eyed as the red head pressed her lips to his. Sharp jolts of electricity shot through his veins, his blood caught fire, and he allowed his eyes to flutter close, relaxing into the kiss, parting his lips, letting her tongue enter his mouth.
The hard kiss turned soft as their tongues danced together in circular rhythms. Harry deepened the kiss, wrapping his arms around her, letting their bodies melt together, wanting to be closer to Ginny.....'Ginny!' and without thinking twice, he broke his lips away, and his mouth echoed his thoughts.
"Ginny!......Wh-what are you doing?"
Ginny's eyes shot open as Harry broke their kiss. She stared up into his beautifully chiseled face, and thought he looked rather sexy with his dark locks falling into his eyes, and his glasses askew his face before his words sunk in. Immediately tears pooled in her light brown eyes, and she said the only thing she could think of.
"I love you, Harry."
Harry's mind went in every direction at once, as her words sank into him.
"You do?" he asked stupidly.
"Yes, Harry James Potter, I love you. I love you so much it hurts. I've loved you ever since you saved my life. You're all I can think about, Harry...I...I need you," and with that she pulled him down and caught his lips in a soft, sweet kiss, capturing his bottom lip briefly before releasing it, and staring into his shining eyes, searching for answers.
Memories raced through Harry's mind. He remembered the cold, empty, and devastated feeling he had when he saw Ginny laying seemingly lifeless on the stone floor of the Chamber of Secrets. He had thought she was dead at that moment, and he couldn't remember when he had felt more helpless or hopeless. He remembered how his heart raced when her eyes had fluttered opened.
Now, looking down into her soft brown eyes, glazed with tears, made his heart fall into his stomach. She looked so helpless and timid. He wanted nothing more than to hold her closer, protecting her, making her his. It was at that moment that he realized how much Ginny Weasley meant to him, and he knew that he could never again see her as just Ron's sister or as just a friend.
She was a woman. A woman who he had gone through so much with. A woman who he could be totally himself with. She was more than someone to lust after, she was his friend. She had become one of his best and closest friends during their years at Hogwarts, and she was always there for him. It felt perfect being near her, and he knew he could never love anyone or anything more.
He drew her closer into a tight embrace with only a thin layer of air separating their lips. Then without a word, broke the thin gap, and engaged her soft lips in a deep kiss, darting his tongue into her mouth, and savoring her taste. He pressed his body onto hers, never feeling more complete and never floating in such perfect bliss than at that very moment in time.
It seemed like an eternity went by as the two held each other close, devouring each others lips, melding into one, exchanging heat, making up for lost time. Ginny ran her slender fingers through Harry's dark hair, making it more unruly than it already was. She let one hand slide down the back of his neck, caressing the warm flesh, making him softly moan into her mouth, and press against her harder. She could feel his growing member on her thigh, and she gently pushed against it, making the soft moan, turn into a loud groan.
Holding his weight on one arm propped against the ground, he brought his knee up between the red head's legs, still kissing her deeply, hearing her muffled moans echo his.
Then grasping the last bit of self control he had, he pulled away from the heated moment, and stared into her brown eyes.
"Ginny, we need to stop," and before she could protest or cry, he placed a finger on her trembling lips.
"Shhh...It's not you. It's just that we need to stop now, or I won't be able to stop later......Plus, I want the first time with the woman I love to be special."
Harry replaced his finger with his lips kissing her tenderly and briefly on her soft lips, then gazed down at her, and said the words that she had been waiting so long to hear.
"I love you, Ginny Weasley."
