Chapter fifteen: The Mark

Chapter fifteen: The Mark

Severus sat in his office. It was pretty late at night and he was thinking. He felt a sharp pain surge through the mark on his arm. Tonight was the night that he had to take Amelia to see her father. Severus walked into his room and pulled out the white mask from with in his bedside draw and hid it in his robes. He then left his room and walked out to get Amelia.

Severus headed to the library knowing that she would be there reading, unless she had changed her plans. He walked in to the library seeing that it was dark, but in one corner he could see a little light.

“You shouldn’t be here you know, the library is closed and its past your curfew.” Amelia said, thinking that it was a student.

“Amelia it is me.” Severus walked towards the corner of the library.

“Oh so it is.” Amelia put down her book. “What are you doing here?”

“We must go.” Severus replied.

“To, to a meeting?” Amelia felt a little worried.

“Yes.” Severus nodded.

“Ok, just let me lock up first.” Amelia picked up the book and put it back on the shelf that she had taken it from and led Severus out of the library doors. She took out a key and locked the door. “How do we get there?”

“We get there by portkey. But we must go out to the forest first.” Severus began to walk through the hallways and out side. Amelia followed him. Severus took out his portkey and stood by the edge of the forest.

“Wait a second,” Amelia gave Severus a kiss. “Good luck.”

“Yes, thank you.” Severus held out the portkey. Amelia put her hand over his. Everything around them disappeared and then they reappeared in a new place. Amelia looked around at the large dark mansion that stood in front of her and Severus.

“Is this the place?” Amelia murmured in awe.

“Yes.” Severus pulled on his mask. “Come now.” Severus walked in to the mansion. Amelia followed him seeing that there were a few other people entering. Severus walked in to the room that the meetings were held in and saw rows of death eaters just waiting for the meeting to start. Amelia looked around seeing a sea of people in black robes with white masks. “You just stay up here.”

“Ok.” Amelia stood still watching Severus walk over to the front row and stand in between a fat man and a tall man. Amelia walked a little bit just so that she was standing in a dark corner. Out of the corner of her eye she could see a man in a white mask that had a blond ponytail coming towards her. Amelia knew who the man was and was not looking forward to talking to him.

“Hello there Amelia.” Lucius raised his mask so that she could see his face.

“Lucius.” Amelia looked away from him and over to Severus. He looked back at her and just nodded.

“It is good to have you come over to our side like you should be.”

“Indeed. I think you should go to your spot Lucius. I do not wish to talk to you.” Amelia said, unexcitedly.

“Why not my love?” Lucius stepped closer to her.

“Do not call me you love!” Amelia hissed. Severus watched, anger rising in his stomach.

“Fine.” Lucius pulled down his mask. “I shall see you soon.”

“You wish.”

“I sincerely do.” Lucius turned around and walked off. Amelia stood and sighed feeling good that nothing else happened. A large puff of dark green smoke appeared with a crack. Amelia watched as everyone fell to their knees. She did nothing, just stood there and looked at the frail body that appeared.

“Thank you all for coming,” Voldemort started. “You all may stand.” All the death eaters stood up. “Severus where is my daughter?” Severus was about to speak when Amelia stepped forward.

“I am here.” Amelia said clearly. Voldemort turned around and looked at her. Amelia looked at how horrible he looked.

“Come closer my dear.” Voldemort motioned for her to come closer to her. Amelia walked up to him. She looked in to the crowd and saw everyone looking up at them. “This is Amelia, my daughter.” The crowd was quiet. “There is one thing we must do before we start.”

“What is that?” Amelia asked.

“You must receive the dark mark.” Voldemort grabbed Amelia’s left wrist.

“No.” Amelia pulled away. She didn’t want to be come one of them.

“You shall do what I say.” Voldemort demanded.

“I shall not. I may do what I like. You do not own me.” Amelia stated.

“Lucius, Severus, hold her down.” Voldemort ordered. Severus and Lucius stepped forward and grabbed one end of Amelia’s body. Severus took the top end and Lucius took the bottom.

“You said you wouldn’t let him hurt me.” Amelia whispered.

“I know I did, but you must do this if you do not want to seem suspicious.” Severus whispered back. Voldemort pulled out his wand and took Amelia’s left hand in his. Amelia closed her eyes, not wanting to see what happens. Voldemort placed the tip of his wand on Amelia’s wrist and began to mutter an incantation. Suddenly Amelia felt a sharp burning pain in her wrist, as though she was being branded.

A burst of green light began to appear in the room as Amelia let out a high pitched scream that was so loud Severus felt as though he had gone deaf. Voldemort took the wand away from her wrist. Amelia felt faint from the pain and loss of breath, she also felt different, almost empty and cold. Lucius looked up at her. Amelia could see his dirty smirk from behind his mask.

Amelia looked down at her wrist and saw a black burnt skull with a snake going though it. Her skin around the mark was a purple red colour. Amelia kicked Lucius and pushed Severus away from her. She stood up angrily. Severus knew that she was angry at him.

“Welcome in to our society.” Voldemort greeted.

“Thanks.” Amelia replied sarcastically. Severus and Lucius walked back to their standing space. Voldemort turned to the followers.

“Welcome our princess.” Voldemort ordered. The death eaters fell to their knees. Amelia looked around, still numb from the pain in her wrist. “You all may rise.” The death eaters stood up once more. “This meeting is officially over.” The death eaters began to flood out of the room. Severus walked towards her. “You will become a spy like Severus.”

“Ok.” Amelia nodded.

“You must tell me everything that Potter has planed.”

“Ok.” Amelia didn’t really care.

“Very good my princess.” Voldemort cackled slightly. “I shall summon you when I need you.”

“Yes Thomas.”

“There is no need to call me Thomas my child. Call me father that is what I am.”

“Right.” ‘You never were a real one’ Amelia thought in her mind.

“You two may go, look after her Severus.”

“Of course my lord.” Severus nodded.

“Good.”

“Come on.” Amelia left the room, quickly.

“Amelia wait.” Severus called after her.

“You lied to me Severus!” Amelia snapped. “You said he wouldn’t hurt me, you told me that your fucking dark mark didn’t hurt! It hurt like hell Severus!”

“I’m sorry but there are something that you must do.”

“Yes I know there is and you should have helped me.” Amelia spat.

“And give us up? Amelia if you did not get the mark and I had not helped you down you father would have guessed something. Everything that you grandfather had tried so hard to do would have been gone.” Severus grabbed Amelia’s arm.

“Fine. I feel like shit though. I want to go to bed.” Amelia looked away from him. Severus took out his portkey. “You know you could have told me that he might have wanted me to get the fucking mark.”

“It didn’t occur to me.”

“Oh how great. And now I’m the fucking Princess.”

“Amelia stop with your cursing I do not wish to hear it.” Severus held out his hand.

“Well get used to it Severus I’ll be doing it a lot more often now.” Amelia put her hand over his and they began to fade out from their location. They appeared back at the edge of the forbidden forest. Amelia immediately began to walk back with in the walls of Hogwarts. Severus followed her silently.

Amelia walked down to the floor that her and Severus office was on and walked over to her office door. Severus watched her. She hadn’t slept in her own bed for quite a while now. He walked up behind her.

“Amelia please.” Severus whispered softly.

“What?” Amelia turned around.

“Do not be angry.”
“I’m not Severus,” Amelia sighed, she couldn’t really be angry at him. “I just want some sleep. I’m not feeling too good,” Amelia opened her office door. “How about you come here for one night?” Amelia walked in to the room leaving the door opened.

“Very well.” Severus walked in to the room after her and closed the door behind him.

“Come on.” Amelia walked in to her bed room and began to undress herself. She slipped on a white nighty and slid in between her silk bed sheets. Severus took off his clothes right down to his silk boxers and then slid in next to Amelia.
