Chapter 15: A Surprising Encounter
Flint Manor
Natalya looked at her plate and pushed her food around it in a dejected way. The past week had been fraught with tension between herself and her husband. She ventured a glance at Aurelius at the other end of the table. The chatter of their dinner guests and the tinkle of utensils reverberated through the room. Aurelius was his normal charming self to his guests but to her, he had been cool and offhand. Natalya knew that she had made him angry with her. He had been giving her the cold shoulder since she had implied that she was unfaithful as well. She smiled distractedly at a comment that came her way from Gerard Greengrass.
Aurelius looked moodily down the table at his flirtatious wife. He wondered, not for the first time, if she was having her affair with Greengrass or any man she talked to tonight. Over the past week, he had brooded alone in his study. He wondered if he knew her lover. The uncertainty and jealousy was eating away at him.
Natalya gave her husband an uncertain smile as he looked down the table at her. Her smile faded when Aurelius looked away with a dismissive toss of his head. A surge of anger went through her. With an effort, she forced her anger away. Their guests were starting to notice the iciness between the two Flints. She gave a serene smile to Narcissa Malfoy a moment later. They talked about the new fashions from Paris. Natalya forced herself to chatter even though her heart wasn’t in it. She was relieved when Aurelius took the men into the study for an after dinner brandy.
Aurelius leaned against the fireplace in his study and listened with half his attention to the political discussion being debated over his fine brandy and a few cigars. He gave his cousin Lucius Malfoy a tight smile when he sidled up to Aurelius a few minutes into the conversation.
“My Aurelius,” drawled Lucius softly with a half smile on his fine features. “You are in a mood tonight.”
“That I am,” said Aurelius with a tight smile. He wondered with a dawning sense of horror if Lucius was Natalya’s lover. He would simply kill her – with his bare hands.
“Making that lovely wife of yours frown,” mocked Lucius. “I have never seen your wife look so displeased with you. Tell me, old boy, is it true she caught you with that little redhead you keep hidden away?”
“How do you know?” hissed Aurelius as his banked temper flared to life.
“My dear cousin,” said Lucius. “Bad news travels fast. Your little red head has been looking for a new protector at the Merlin Club lately. She could not keep her pretty little mouth shut. She was quite put out at the way you dismissed her.”
“Trust me,” said Aurelius between clenched teeth. “I’ll shut her up.”
“Natalya must have put the boot in,” said Lucius as he watched his cousin’s flushed face with amusement.
“Actually,” said Aurelius as he reined in his temper. “She did not.”
“Really?” said Lucius speculatively. “Narcissa would hex me into the ground if I dared to be so indiscreet.”
“We have a civilized marriage Lucius,” said Aurelius with a studied impassive glance.
“As do I,” said Lucius. He gave his cousin a demure smile and wandered away to refill his brandy glass. He could clearly see that all was not well in the Flint marriage. He stifled a smirk as he thought to himself, “Perhaps Natalya had decided what was good for the goose, was good for the gander.”
Diagon Alley: the next day:
Natalya had just picked up the engraved wedding invitations at the stationary store when she ran into Lucius Malfoy coming in the door.
“I am so sorry,” gasped an embarrassed Natalya. She bent to pick up the invitations.
“Allow me,” said Lucius as he picked up the packages for her. “Natalya, I would like to thank you for the lovely dinner last night. The conversation was very enlightening.” He suppressed a knowing smirk as he gazed into her blushing face. An inner devil urged him to say the next words. Lucius wished he could see the look on Aurelius’s face. “Please let me buy you a drink as a thank-you.”
“Oh,” said Natalya as she blinked in surprise. She gazed apprehensively into Lucius’s handsome face.
“I insist,” said Lucius as he turned to guide her down the alley to a small discreet bistro.
“Thank-you,” said Natalya faintly as she allowed herself to be guided into the bistro. She had no idea how she could graciously turn down Lucius’s offer. His overwhelming personality had always made her uncomfortable. She sat at the table flustered as he ordered them wine.
Lucius looked into her rosy face and gave a slow smile. Aurelius’s wife was really very attractive and very unlike Narcissa, with her dark eyes and dark hair. They talked about mutual acquaintances as they sipped their wine.
Natalya slowly relaxed as she drank the delicious wine and the conversation stayed within safe boundaries. She looked into his handsome face and wondered what she was so afraid of when it came to this man.
They had just exchanged a wicked snippet of a scandal when Lucius’s normally haughty gaze relaxed and he laughed. Natalya’s breath came quicker as she saw a different side to Lucius Malfoy. When he smiled his face looked younger and his beautiful eyes sparkled with genuine amusement. Natalya caught her breath as the realization struck her – Lucius was a beautiful man.
Lucius continued to make her gasp with laughter as he regaled her with the scandalous goings on at the Ministry. She didn’t notice when Lucius ordered another bottle of wine.
Lucius smiled into Natalya’s dark eyes as she told him a story about one of his colleagues when he was a student at Durmstrang. He thought hazily to himself that he liked it when she licked her lips before she took a sip of wine. He shifted in his chair as his temperature rose. He wondered if her lips were as soft as they looked.
Several minutes later, Natalya gave a soft gasp. Lucius was telling her a Hogwarts story. The story wasn’t the problem. Lucius was absentmindedly running the back of his fingers along her arm as he was talking. She looked into his lazy warm eyes and shivered as she realized that he knew exactly what he was doing. When had he gotten so close to her chair? When he stopped a moment later, Natalya wasn’t sure if she was relieved or disappointed.
A silence fell over the table as Natalya looked away from his hot gaze in embarrassment. Her eyes flew back to his face a second later when she felt his warm hand on her thigh under the table. His long fingers stroked her as a thick silence fell between them.
“I know a discreet hotel near here,” said Lucius quietly and intently as he looked into her dark eyes.
Natalya’s heart was pounding with desire warring with a sense of unease. His fingers moved up her thigh. Natalya licked her dry lips.
“We can talk,” said Lucius lazily. “In a quieter, less public setting.”
“Aurelius would kill me,” whispered Natalya.
“Aurelius need never know,” said Lucius as his hot desire for her briefly warred with his affection for his cousin. He shifted as his erection strained his trousers. “Besides, we are just going to talk.”
A scant half-hour later, Natalya found herself in a luxurious suite holding a glass of champagne. She closed her eyes as Lucius nuzzled her throat. He was lying beside her nude and very aroused. They were on the bed together. She hadn’t even stepped through the door, when Lucius had pounced on her. He had stripped her clothes away and kissed every bit of skin he could reach until she was panting and naked on the bed. Then he had ordered champagne. After it had arrived he took his clothes off piece by piece and very slowly.
“I don’t think we should do this,” said Natalya unsteadily. Lucius had begun kissing her breasts. He tongued her nipples and squeezed her breasts. His fingers trailed down her body.
“I think maybe we have had too much to drink and that we will regret this tomorrow,” said Natalya as she bit off a gasp. Lucius was kissing his way down her torso. She gave a low moan when his mouth slipped in between her legs and he began to explore her cleft with a clever tongue. She reached down an unsteady hand and touched his long fine platinum hair that was spread out over her thighs. Her head spun with a mixture of too much alcohol and pleasure.
“Natalya,” whispered Lucius as he lifted his head. He pulled his aroused body up to lie over hers. “We are just talking.” He dipped his head and captured her mouth. “You don’t look like a Natalya. You look more like a Natasha right now. You are so beautiful,” whispered Lucius against her mouth.
Natalya arched her back when he surged into her a few moments later. Her legs were wrapped around his slim hips and she gasped her pleasure aloud. She groaned as she heard his voice hotly whisper ‘Natasha’ over and over again as his body delved deep inside her.
“Open your eyes,” ordered Lucius intently. Natalya looked into his glittering eyes and moaned. They were hot, passionate and piercing. “Look at me. Know it’s me Lucius.”
“I know,” whispered Natalya as she soothingly stroked his long hair. She arched her hips into his driving strokes. After those words there was no need for anymore. Their straining bodies rubbed and moved together until Natalya stiffened underneath his thrusting body and gave a long moan of fulfillment. Lucius buried his cock deep inside her sheath and came as she fluttered against his erection.
They made love again then again that afternoon. They lay there exhausted on the smooth silk sheets and finally talked.
“We can never do this again,” said Natalya softly as she rose up out of the bed to get dressed.

“I know,” said Lucius as he touched her bare back.
“We should never have done this,” said Natalya guiltily.
“Natasha,” chided Lucius. “Aurelius has done ‘this’ many times in your marriage.”
“I know,” said Natalya as she buttoned her robe with shaky hands. “I just never meant to do it.”
“Blame me, blame the wine,” said Lucius with a smile. “But don’t blame yourself.”
“You are different than what I expected,” said Natalya as she looked down at his beautiful nude body sprawled on the bed.
“Is that a bad thing,” asked Lucius with a raised eyebrow.
“No,” whispered Natalya. She raised her face up when Lucius got out of bed and gathered her up in his arms. He gave her mouth a soft kiss.
Natalya smiled at him as she left the room.
Lucius watched her go with a curious look on his face. He had only meant to flirt with her but the afternoon had been a surprising one. He had enjoyed her conversation. She had surprised him as well. She was sexy and passionate under that polished patina. The sex had been intense and very sensual. He wondered if he could persuade Natasha to have a longer more satisfying affair with him.
