Epilogue
As the summer draws to a close we find ourselves at the Burrow visiting with the Weasley’s as Molly had invited us to Harry and Ginny’s engagement dinner. He and Ron had slowly come around to the fact that I was married to the meanest teacher at our school. Severus helped by being nicer to them at every opportunity. As they watched the way we were with each other they had to admit we made a good pair.
“Congratulations to the happy couple,” Molly toasted her only daughter and the boy she always wanted for a son. So happy to finally make him a member of the family.
Molly and Arthur, nor the rest of my friends in the Order batted an eyelash at the fact that Severus and I were wed. I have a feeling Dumbledore had something to do with that. No matter. I am thankful they have all been so supportive of us. It made it that much easier to stand and make this day happier.
“First, I would like to congratulate two of my closest friends. I wish you both all the happiness in the world. Second, I hope you don’t mind if I have another bit of news to share.” I stop to look around the table at my adopted family. With their nods of encouragement I go on. “I know Ginny has asked me to be her Matron of Honor, but I’m not sure how good a job I will be able to do. As by the time of the wedding I will taking care of a new baby.”
Molly jumped up to hug me, as Mr. Weasley patted Severus on the back.
“That’s wonderful news. Now we’ll have a baby in the wedding!” cried Ginny in excitement. “Oh, I can’t wait Hermione.”
The rest of the night was full of celebration, everyone excited by the chance for new beginnings.
