Chapter 14
“Can I have your attention for the moment please?” She called to the room.
They quieted and focused their attention on her, still holding onto their loved ones closely.
“A few of us are going to go and get a few more survivors from another camp.” She explained. “As soon as we get back, we will all sort out sleeping arrangements and such. In the meantime, please eat and drink. And I know it’s hard, but try not to worry, we are safe here. We are many miles from anywhere. In the most secluded part of Scotland.”
The crowd seemed pleased enough with her explanation for the moment. Hermione went into the kitchen and took a long drink of water from one of the many water bottles. She leant against the kitchen sink and closed her eyes, suddenly very tired. She would be able to rest as soon as she got Harry back she told herself.
She opened her eyes as she heard footsteps. Draco, Narcissa, Blaise, Luna and the remaining Weasley’s entered the kitchen. Most had been crying; the tears were still fresh on their cheeks.
“So what are we going to do about Harry?” Ron asked the group.
“From what we understand, they basically have to sneak out to an area so that we can Apparate in and bring them back here. They can’t floo and there are no brooms.” Draco said, crossing his arms and leaning against a bench.
“I’m coming with you.” Mr Weasley said. “It’s too dangerous for you not to have a fully trained Auror there with you.”
“With all due respect Arthur, magic is no longer a safe bet.” Hermione said. “You’d be better off here with Molly. She needs you more than we do.”
“I don’t think so.” Molly said. “We can’t let you kids go by yourselves.”
“We’re not kids anymore.” She said calmly. “We’re adults and we know what we’re doing.”
“I know but-”
“I want to go too.” Ron said seriously.
“It will be Goyle, Draco and I going again.” She said to the group. “We are the only ones who know how to use guns at the moment. It’s the safest option. We’ll take one or two people each.”
Mr and Mrs Weasley and Ron remained silent. Hermione took the Galleon out of her pocket.
Hermione – Harry, are you alright? We managed to get everyone back to the Malfoy’s house. We’re all okay. Are you able to get out?
She closed her eyes, waiting for a reply. Everyone around her was silent. Then the Galleon grew hot.
Harry – Yeah, we’re okay. Worried sick, but alright. We are able to sneak out at about 3 o’clock when the Aurors switch shifts.
Hermione – That’s fantastic. I’m so glad you’re alright. Okay, you send me word when you’re leaving. We’ll Apparate to the southern grounds next to the statue of Captain Smith and take you back. How many are there?
Harry – Still just us three. Aurors are coming to do rounds. Have to go. I will talk to you again when we’re ready.
Hermione – Alright. Be careful.
Harry – I always am.
Hermione wanted to smile but couldn’t muster the energy.
“What’s happening?” Ginny asked. “Is Harry alright?”
Hermione nodded and looked at her watch. It was two o’clock.
“They’re able to sneak onto the grounds when the Aurors switch shifts at about three.” She said, sighing. “Harry will tell me when they’re on the run and we will go and get them.”
“Who’s with him?” George asked.
“Pansy Parkinson and Parvarti.” Hermione answered.
“Is that all?” Ginny asked, shocked.
“He hasn’t seen Alicia?” George asked, his voice tightening.
Hermione shook her head.
“I don’t think so.” She said. “I’ll ask.”
Hermione – Harry, George wants to know if Alicia is there.
They waited several minutes for a reply. Just when they thought they couldn’t bare the silence any longer, the Galleon grew hot.
Harry – She’s with us now and we’re on our way down now. The Aurors are getting updates. The infected are getting closer to us apparently.
Hermione – We’re on our way!
“They’ve just found her and are on their way down to the statue now. The Aurors are being debriefed as we speak.” She pulled out her gun and reloaded. “Draco, Goyle, let’s go.”
Both Draco and Goyle pulled out their guns, checking and reloading. Then a moment later the three of them held hands and disappeared once again.
They quieted and focused their attention on her, still holding onto their loved ones closely.
