Chapter 13- In the Devil's Lair
Love…War…What’s the Difference?
In the Devil’s Lair
Ron stood in front of Voldemort. He could feel Voldemort sifting through the false memories of him and Pansy attacking and killing Severus. Finally, Voldemort looked at Ron.
“Hmm. You seem trustworthy. Why did you betray your friends and family?” Voldemort asked.
“Should you have to ask about my family. I was always overlooked by my brothers and sister. Always having to settle for hand-me-downs. After my dad became Minister and we started getting money, my parents still shopped at second hand stores.
“As for my friends, what a laugh. Harry and Hermione always stole the spotlight. Hermione is a know-it-all. I’m glad she finally got what she deserved. As for Harry, what a show off. Everyone thinks he’s so perfect because of that stupid prophecy and his scar,” Ron snarled.
Voldemort smiled a twisted smile, then began laughing. When he settled down, he spoke again. “I can see now why Pansy allied herself with you. Of course, as happy as I am that the two of you took care of the traitor, Severus, she was still punished for turning on Draco,”
“She and I figured as much. She told me it would be worth it though,” Ron replied.
“True. Well, in two days, you and Pansy will receive the Dark Mark. One more thing, what do you know of Granger and Snape’s personal relationship?” Voldemort questioned.
“I heard Harry and my sister mention something about them being in love over Christmas holidays, but I didn’t hear anything more,” Ron answered.
“Well, I have received word that they were married in secret over Christmas. Your father signed the license,” Voldemort stated.
“Then that’s were they went. On Christmas afternoon, my mum, dad, Harry, and Ginny took off for about two hours, but didn’t tell me where,” Ron said with a dark look.
“I see. For now, Bella will show you to your rooms. You and Pansy will share a suit. I figured you two would enjoy the privacy,” Voldemort smiled.
“Thank you my Lord,” Ron bowed.
Voldemort waved him away. Ron followed Bellatrix out of the throne room. The two walked in silence. They didn’t speak until they were safely in Ron and Pansy’s room, where Pansy lay on the sofa resting.
“How are you feeling?” Ron asked tenderly as he sat down and laid Pansy’s head on his lap.
“Sore and tired, but otherwise all right. How did it go?” Pansy replied.
“It worked. Ron was extremely convincing. You two are scheduled to receive the Dark Mark in two days,” Bella answered.
“He knows Hermione and the Professor were married secretly. Whoever attacked Hermione must have seen the license,” Ron said.
“It was Narcissa. Voldemort has been manipulating her just so he could have an heir. I suspect she might be pregnant again. If so, that’s the only reason he hasn’t done away with her,” Bella stated heatedly.
“That’s why you betrayed him. Because of what he’s done to your sister. Isn’t it?” Pansy questioned.
“Yes. Well, I’ll leave you two alone. Dinner will be at seven. I’ll come and get you guys,” Bella smiled.
She gave them a wave and left. Ron began to stroking Pansy’s hair as she let out a gently sigh. Ron took a calming breath and decided to take a risk with his feelings and hope it wasn’t a wasted risk.
“Pansy, I…I know this isn’t the right time, but I need to tell you something. I like you. I’ve liked you for the past two years,” he said.
“Really?” she asked as she rolled onto her back and looked up at him.
“Yeah,” he answered.
“I like you too Ron. I kind of played it off to Voldemort that there was something between us,” she replied quietly.
“That’s where he got the idea. At least that part of our masquerade will be real,” he smiled.
Ron leaned down and tenderly pressed his lips to hers. Pansy returned the kiss. The kiss was sweet and tentative. Neither wanted to rush thing. They would have plenty of time for that later.

At seven, Ron, Pansy, and Bella sat with Voldemort, Draco, and Narcissa in a beautiful dinning room for dinner. Ron and Pansy had to admit, Voldemort had excellent taste when it came to his décor.
“I see you’ve finally come to your senses and joined the winning team Weasley,” Draco said.
“I’m only sorry I didn’t join sooner,” Ron replied with a convincing smile.
“I wish I could have seen the look on Snape’s face when the two of you finished him off,” Narcissa stated with an evil glint in her eyes.
“Well, maybe we could present you a pensieve,” Pansy suggested.
“I think we can do that when you receive your mark. That will prove to the other Death Eaters where your loyalties lie,” Voldemort nodded in satisfaction.
“No problem,” Ron smiled.
After dinner, Ron and Pansy sat on the sofa before a roaring fire just relaxing. “So, what are we going to do about the sleeping arrangements?” Pansy asked.
“Look, the bed is a King size bed. We’re both mature enough to share a bed. We’ll have plenty of time for the sexual stuff later,” Ron replied.
Pansy nodded. An hour later, they changed into their pajamas and climbed into the bed. Pansy surprised Ron by curling up to him and resting her head on his chest. “Can you just hold me?” she requested.
“You got it,” he smiled.
The two fell asleep holding on another. Both forgetting they were in the middle of Voldemort’s strong hold. At least for the moment.
