Charlie was now the one pacing the kitchen. “Will you sit down?” Snape snapped. “You’re making me dizzy.”

“We should be able to hear them!” Charlie complained.

“Please don’t perv on my godson!” Sirius whined from his place at the table.

“Nor mine,” Snape said coldly.

“I’m just saying that if they were completing the bond, we should hear something. And if they are not, Draco—“

“I am fully aware that my godson will die if he doesn’t fornicate with Potter.” Snape massaged the bridge of his overly large nose. He checked the clock on the wall. “I hate to say this, but it has been six hours. I need to give Draco his potions. Perhaps it is time we checked on them, given that it is silent.” Sirius agreed reluctantly.

They knocked softly on the door and received no response. When the door creaked open slowly, they saw no movement. The three men stepped into the room, and saw Draco on the bed, still seemingly unconscious. Harry was wrapped tightly around him, his head buried in the crook of his neck.

“Harry?” Sirius asked softly. Harry raised his face to reveal tear-stained cheeks and red-rimmed eyes. “Oh gods, he’s not—“

“He won’t wake up,” Harry croaked. “And he’s so quiet. There’s no sound. His purr is gone.”

Charlie frowned in concern. Snape cleared his throat. “He needs to take some potions. Please roll him onto his back.” Harry did as he was told without arguing. Snape stepped forward with two small vials. Harry held Draco’s head up at an angle to help get the potions down his throat. When the two potions had massaged down his throat, Harry wrapped him in his arms again in the same position. “Has there been any change?” he asked. Harry shook his head.

“Are you sure?” Charlie asked. “Is he warmer than he was?” Harry thought about it for a moment and then nodded. Charlie seemed to breathe in relief. “That’s a good sign, Harry. I’ve seen dragons deprived of there mates during the bonding process and survive. You’re doing everything right, Harry. He needs to feel you with him. Skin to skin contact is the best way to accomplish that. His injuries are probably just slowing down the process.”

“Are you okay?” Sirius asked.

Harry shook his head. “I hurt. My chest. I—“ He pulled Draco closer and the three men saw another tear fall from his eye. “I need him to wake up.”

“We’ll leave you,” Snape said. He placed a bag of potions on the side table and flicked his wand at the empty space above them. “When the alarm goes off, he’ll need another of each. I trust you can handle it?” Snape nodded and left the room.

Charlie followed, turning at the door. “Harry, if you need me, I’ll be here. At least until Draco is awake.”

Sirius leaned over and ruffled Harry’s hair. Harry’s reaction was that of shock, and then a smile, tightening his hold on Draco yet again. “He shrieked,” Harry said softly.

“What?” Charlie asked, stepping back.

“It’s the sound he makes when he’s upset. He gets upset when someone else touches me,” Harry explained. “Do it again?” Harry asked of Sirius.

Charlie reached out and stopped Sirius before he could touch Harry. “It’s a good sign,” Charlie assured him, “but perhaps we should refrain from touching you if it upsets him?”

Sirius nodded and grabbed Charlie by the shoulder, leading him from the room. “Get some rest yourself, Harry,” he said quietly before ducking out.

“You need to be fine, Draco. You need to wake up and smile at me. You need to let me kiss you, make love to you. Wake up, Draco,” Harry whispered. “If you show me those beautiful eyes of yours I will take care of you for the rest of time, baby. Forever. Just wake up and we’ll have forever.” Draco didn’t stir, but a quiet hum sounded in Harry’s mind and he didn’t think he’d ever heard anything more beautiful. It was that quiet hum that allowed him to find sleep, and dream of his beautiful crystal eyed lover.
