Galactic Love

Chapter 14

Harry sat silently in his sitting room. Across from him on the sofa was Remus. He had just finished telling the former werewolf about the events on Corusant and his decision to return to the capital and live the life of a Jedi.

“Harry, are you happy with this choice? Are you sure this is the life you want to live?” Remus asked.

“Yes Remus. I feel this is my destiny. What I was born to do,” Harry answered.

“Then you have my full support Harry,” Remus smiled.

“Thank you Remus,” Harry replied, relief evident in his voice.

“When are you telling the Weasleys about Ron?” Remus questioned.

“They’ll be here in an hour. Earlier this morning I made a pensieve of what happened. Hopefully it will help explain things and bring them closure,” Harry sighed.

“Then I’ll be there with you when you tell them,” Remus stated.

Hermione, Obi-Wan, Severus, and Padme walked through the snow covered streets of Hogsmeade. After the Weasleys had arrived the two couples decided to take a walk. It was Hermione and Severus that agreed to show Padme and Obi-Wan Hogsmeade.

“How do you think they will handle the situation?” Padme asked.

“I don’t know. I just hope they will understand after they view Harry’s memories,” Severus sighed as they entered the Three Broomsticks.

“Master Yoda, Solan, and Mace are with him. They can explain more about the dark side if it is needed,” Obi-Wan added as they sat at a booth.

Back at Hogwarts, Harry waited as the Weasleys gathered their wits. He had just shown them everything that had happened from the time he and Ron snuck out of Gryffindor Tower, to the fight between him and Ron, ending with Harry’s lightsaber plunging into Ron’s chest.

“Mrs. Weasley, Mr. Weasley, please understand. I didn’t want this to happen. You saw for yourself how I pleaded with Ron. Both before and during the fight to stop and come back to the light. He was my best friend and brother. I wish it had turned out differently,” Harry insisted sadly.

Molly faced Harry. She slowly walked over and placed her hands on his shoulders. “You listen to me Harry. I don’t want to hear you blaming yourself for what happened. Ever. You are not to blame for the choices Ron made. Do you understand me?” she asked sternly.

“Yes ma’am,” Harry nodded.

Molly then pulled him into her arms. The remaining Weasley family quickly joined in. Watching the family and Harry, Albus, Remus, and the three Jedi Masters smiled. The five knew Harry was relieved that he hadn’t lost the only family he had ever known.

“Harry, after viewing the memories, it’s obvious you were not responsible. For some time now, I felt Ron was dealing with some inner demons. I mean, it was hard for him being the youngest son. Always having to compete with the rest of. You have nothing to feel guilty about,” Bill added.

“Thank you. I’m so glad I haven’t lost you,” Harry smiled.

“That would never happen,” Ginny smiled as she kissed his cheek.

Hermione and Obi-Wan stood behind Harry and the Weasley family. Master Yoda agreed to give Ron a Jedi funeral. The students and professors were simply told that Ron had been betrayed and killed by Anakin. Which from a certain point of view was true.

“He’s at peace now,” Obi-Wan said as he wrapped his arm around Hermione when he saw her tears.

“I know. I’ll miss him. He was a good person and a good friend before all of this,” Hermione replied sadly.

Obi-Wan just held her tightly. As the fire consumed Ron’s body. Tears filled the evening air. Molly sobbed into her husband’s chest. Harry held a crying Ginny, and several female sniffles could be heard as well.

“Ronald Weasley was a brave and loyal young man. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He will be sorely missed by those of us who knew him,” Albus said as Mace handed Ron’s ashes to Arthur.

After the funeral, Obi-Wan met with Yoda and Mace in their sitting room. Before he went through with his plan, he wanted their approval. After all, they were his and Hermione’s biggest supporters.

“What did you want to discuss?” Yoda asked.

“Well, I have come to a decision about a matter I have been thinking on for the past three years. Before I went foreword, I wanted your opinion,” Obi-Wan answered.

“Very well. What is your decision?” Mace replied.

“I want to ask Hermione to marry me,” Obi-Wan stated.

“Wonderful news this is,” Yoda smiled.

“This is wonderful news Obi-Wan. When were you planning on asking her?” Mace grinned.

“I have a plan and I will require a bit of assistance,” Obi-Wan answered with a smile of his own.

Hermione walked arm-in-arm with Obi-Wan through the gardens of Hogwarts, the sun setting behind them and the stars appearing in the fading blue sky. The gardens were enchanted so the flowers would grow year round. They stopped at a stone bench in front of a fountain of two lovers entwined.

“Ben, what did you want to talk about?” she asked as they sat down.

“Hermione, you know I love you more than anything in the galaxy. Now that we no longer have to keep our love hidden, I can do something I’ve wanted to do for three years now. Hermione, marry me. Right here, right now,” he replied.

“You…you want to marry me? Right now?” she questioned in surprise.

“Yes. Our friends are here and I can’t think of a better time or place,” he nodded.

Hermione turned and stared at the fountain. A few moments later, she faced him again. “Yes Obi-Wan Kenobi. I will marry you right here, right now,” she beamed.

Obi-Wan pulled her into his arms and kissed her. They came apart and he pulled her to her feet and led her away from the fountain. Down one of the paths was a gazebo. Gathered under it, was their friends. Padme smiled happily as she handed Hermione a bouquet of white and red roses.

“Padme, be my maid of honor?” Hermione asked.

“Of course,” Padme beamed.

As Hermione and Padme took their places in front of Yoda, Hermione smiled as she saw Severus was Obi-Wan’s best man. After sharing a loving smile, she and Obi-Wan turned and faced Yoda.

During the ceremony, neither Hermione nor Obi-Wan could keep their minds focused on anything but the thought of them finally becoming husband and wife. Finally, their attention returned to Yoda.

“Obi-Wan, take this woman as your wife do you?” Yoda asked.

“I do,” Obi-Wan smiled, looking right into Hermione’s eyes.

“Hermione, take this man as your husband do you?” Yoda repeated.

“I do,” Hermione beamed tearfully.

“By the power of the Jedi Council and the Force, pronounce you husband and wife I do. Kiss your bride you may Obi-Wan,” Yoda said happily.

Obi-Wan pulled Hermoine into his arms and kissed her tenderly. The Weasleys, Albus, Minerva, Remus, Harry, the four Jedi Masters, Padme, and Severus clapped and cheered on the happy couple. After they came apart, everyone gathered around them to offer their best wishes.

After a nice reception, the newly weds returned to their chambers. Obi-Wan leaned against the door frame as his wife stood on the enclosed balcony, brushing her curly hair and staring at the stars. She wore a long silvery spaghetti strap night gown. The bright moonlight, washing over her.

“You are so beautiful Mrs. Kenobi,” he smiled.

“That’s because I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and I’m so in love with you Mr. Kenobi,” she replied as she turned and faced him.

“I’m glad,” he said as he walked over to her.

Hermione wrapped her arms around his neck as he leaned down and kissed her. Obi-Wan gathered her into his arms and carried her to the bed. The couple quickly forgot about everything and everyone but each other.

It had been a month since the wedding when the group of eight returned to Corusant. Harry gave Remus and Ginny, as well as the Arthur and Molly a comlink so they could remain in touch.

Upon returning to the capital, Obi-Wan moved in with Hermione and Harry moved into Obi-Wan’s old apartment at the Temple. Once Senate was back in session, the other Senators offered their support and well wishes to Hermione and Obi-Wan.

Hermione paced her and Obi-Wan’s living room nervously. There was no session of Senate that day and Obi-Wan was coming home from settling yet another dispute on Ansion with Harry. It had been four months since they had been married and for the past three weeks, Obi-Wan had been on Ansion. Her mind was brought back to the present as the doors slid open.

“Obi-Wan,” she breathed.

“Oh Hermione. I’ve missed you so much,” Obi-Wan sighed as he rushed to her and pulled her into his arms. “Hermione, you’re trembling. What’s wrong?” he asked a bit worriedly.

“I have some wonderful news. I’m pregnant,” she smiled.

“You’re…I’m going to be a father?” he questioned.

“Yes,” she nodded.

Obi-Wan began laughing as he gathered her into his arms again and spun her slightly. Once back on her feet, he kissed her fiercely.

“You’ve made me the happiest man in the galaxy,” he whispered as he laid his head atop of hers.
