Hogsmeade Performance
Author's Notes: it the Lion's Pride's first performance and the first time the other student's get to see the band in action. This chapter features Third Eye Blind's Kryptonite, Nickelback's Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting and Savage Garden's I Want You.
After several weeks of practice Hunter felt that the band was almost ready to play in front of the school. Although he would never admit it out loud, having his own band was something he had thought about for a long time. Now he had it and they were turning out better then he could have hoped for.
It had several practices after they learned to play their instruments for him to figure out which songs worked best with this group. There was just one more thing that he felt they needed to do to be ready and that was to actually perform in front of a live audience.
While Hunter had never told them that what they were doing was a secret the others didn't talk about it outside their own circle of friends. He was actually pleased when they had started inviting a few select people to watch them perform.
Naturally Hunter and Katie had invited Carla to every practice and Harry had invited Cho along a few times. Hunter wasn't quite sure exactly what was going on between those two since they seem to argue almost as much as they laughed. Best leave that one alone.
The twins had invited Lee Jordan along and Lee's ideas for their lighting and pyrotechnics show had earned him a spot on the crew. Ginny had only invited Neville as she was currently between boyfriends at the moment and he was tutoring her with herbology.
Hunter actually liked the shy guy and had even started giving Neville guitar lessons as well. Neville as it turned out had a knack for words even if he had trouble speaking most of the time. So Hunter put Neville in charge of writting songs for the band.
As Valentines Day approached, so did the next Hogsmeade weekend. Hunter spoke with Professor Dumbledore about arranging a gig for the band to give them some experience in front of a live crowd. The headmaster readily agreed and they were soon booked to perform at the Three Broomsticks that following Saturday.
Hunter informed the band and they were all excited. Hunter had drilled it into their heads from day one that performing was no different then playing Quidditch.
"All you have to do is close your eyes and focus on the music. Forget about everything else and let the music carry you through." He told them all several times a week.
Now they had a gig and it was time to decide on a play list. They all agreed to play some of Neville's songs and a few Hunter had taught them. Hunter gave them the day before their performance off so they could rest up but warned them that if they did anything stupid that kept them from being able to perform at their best they would be sorry when he got his hands on them.
They met up at the Three Broomstick two hours before they were to begin and started setting up on the stage. Giving the close quarters and small stage Hunter told the crew that they could just enjoy the show with the audience once they finished helping to set up.
They had just finished the sound check when the first group started to arrive. Hunter had reserved two tables in front of the stage for his crew and guests of the band. He also had one of the upstairs rooms set aside for a dressing room so they could relax before and after the show.
All in all things were turning out far better then he could have asked for and everything seemed to be in order. "Okay I'll make this brief so we can get started." He said. "I'm proud of all of you fro your hard work and dedication.
"Just remember above all else this his about having fun and enjoying ourselves. Don't worry if you make a mistake just keep playing and no one will know. We'll workout any problems at practice so for now let's go out there and have fun."
They all agreed and were fired up as they made their way down the stairs and on to the stage. The girls had done a great job on the costumes and had followed Hunter's advise about the leather and lace.
The guys were all wearing leather pants that were enchanted to fit comfortably and were no trouble to put on or get off. Along with sleeveless shirts and combat boots.
The girls all wore leather miniskirts of a modest length that covered their fishnet stockings. They had knee high leather boots with two-inch heels so they could walk without tripping and leather halter-tops covered by the same Jackets that everyone wore with the band's name on the back.
Always looking to make a quick buck, Lee and the twins had opted to sell band merchandise at the show. Hunter allowed them after they had agreed to split the profits with the rest of the band. He had also arranged for free food and drinks for them and their guests and allowed the house to keep all the door profits.
"How's everyone doing today?" Hunter asked feeling like a real rock star. "You all ready to rock?" The crowd cheered loudly and he turned to the others and gave the signal.
It's getting late I haven't seen my date. so tell me when the boys get here. It's seven o'clock and I want to rock. Want to get a belly full of beer. My old man's drunker than a bar full of winos and his old lady she don't care. My sister looking cute in her braces and boots. A handful of grease in her hair.
It took the crowd less then a minute to get into the song and even less time to hop out on the dance floor. Hunter was loving the energy they were giving off and he and the others fed off of it. This is what I've always dreamed of.
Don't give us none of your aggravation. We had it with your discipline. Saturday night's alright for fighting. Get a little action in. Get about as oiled as a diesel train. Gonna set this town alight. 'Cause Saturday night's the night I like. Saturday night's alright, alright, alright.
Hunter turns to Harry and nods. When they had decided on this song Hunter had insisted on doing it as a duet. He and Harry had worked it all out and Harry would take the second verse.
Harry looked at Cho and grinned as he took his turn singing.
Packed pretty tight in here tonight. I'm looking for a woman who'll see me right. I may use a little muscle to get what I need. I drink a fifth of Jack and scream out "She's with me!" A couple of the sound that I really like. Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike. I'm a juvenile product of the working class. Whose best friend floats from the bottom of a glass.
The crowd roared their approval as the rest of the band joined in on the song. There was no denying the rush they got from performing and any fears Hunter might have had about their stage fright were now firmly laid to rest.

They continued to rock the crowd and feed off the energy everyone was giving out. About half way through the show, Cho and Carla had managed to drag Neville onto the floor and get him dancing. After about his third song out their Neville had actually begun to have fun.
"Alright," Hunter addressed the crowd. "Let me take a moment to introduce you to the band." He turned and pointed to each member you played a few quick notes when it was their turn. Those who didn't play an instrument waved or bowed. "Tickling the ivories is Angelina Johnson. Pounding out the backbeat on drums is Ron Weasley. Keeping pace on bass is Harry Potter. On back up guitar and lead female Vocals is Katie Bell. The lovely tonsils you guys have been drooling over all night belong to our back up singers; Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger and Alicia Spinnet."
Hunter then looked out into the audience and pointed to each of the crew, who stood and waved as their names were called. "Selling our merchandise all night are Fred and George Weasley and their Partner in crime Lee Jordan. A special thank goes out to the man who wrote half the songs you've been dancing to all night, Neville Longbottom."
"As for me," Hunter began. "I'm Hunter Catiar and here's one more for the road."
Anytime I need to see your face, I just close my eyes and I am taken to a place where your crystal mind and magenta feelings take up shelter in the base of my spine, sweet like a chic-a-cherry cola. I don't need to try and explain; I just hold on tight. And if it happens again, I might move so slightly. To the arms and the lips and the face of the human cannonball
that I need to I want to.
Come stand a little bit closer. Breathe in and get a bit higher. You'll never know what hit you. When I get to you. Ooh I want you I don't know if I need you. But ooh I'd die to find out.
Ooh I want you I don't know if I need you. But ooh I'd die to find out.
I'm the kind of person who endorses a deep commitment. Getting comfy getting perfect is what I live for. But a look, then a smell of perfume. It's like I'm down on the floor and I don't know what I'm in for. Conversation has a time and a place. In the interaction of a lover and a mate.
But the time of talking, using symbols, using words. Can be likened to a deep-sea diver who is
swimming with a raincoat.

They stopped playing and Hunter knew that his band was just as hyped up as he was. It was like a drug to him every time he performed but this was far greater rush then anything he had ever experienced before. "Alright," he said trying to catch his breath. "You've been a great audience and even though it's about time to get going we're going to give you one more for the road."
I took a walk around the world To ease my troubled mind. I left my body laying somewhere In the sands of time. I watched the world float To the dark side of the moon. I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah.
I watched the world float To the dark side of the moon. After all I knew it had to be Something to do with you. I really don’t mind what happens now and then. As long as you’ll be my friend at the end.
If I go crazy then will you still Call me Superman. If I’m alive and well, will you be there holding my hand. I’ll keep you by my side With my superhuman might, Kryptonite.
You called me strong, you called me weak, But still your secrets I will keep. You took for granted all the times I never let you down. You stumbled in and bumped your head, If not for me then you would be dead. I picked you up and put you back On solid ground.
If I go crazy then will you still Call me Superman. If I’m alive and well, Will you be there holding my hand. I’ll keep you by my side With my superhuman might Kryptonite Yeah!!

At the end of the show Hunter once again addressed the crowd. "We're Lion's Pride and we're out of here. Good night..."
