The silvery blonde’s head was lying upon his mother Narcissa’s lap as he relaxed upon the leather couch. The fire’s glow had a mesmerizing effect upon him. The fifteen year old Malfoy was deep in thought. The full realization of his father’s deeds caused him to question everything he believed in. What did my mother see in him? How could she love him? How could she sleep in a bed with such a man, if one could even call someone who commits such atrocities a man. He could tell that it pained his mum to see such pain behind his grey eyes. She had promised him that she would explain everything all in good time.

Draco awoke from his dream upset. His mother had never gotten the chance to explain anything, and now that his father had been released from Azkaban and back at Malfoy Manner. He was not sure if he even wanted to give his father that opportunity. He rolled over in bed into Harry's arms. It felt so good just being held by him. Words were not needed, Severus was not needed ... and both men were happy about that!

"Draco, he is just going to keep sending you owls until you respond back to him," Severus tried to reason with his potion's master.

"I think Snape is right ... maybe you should just write a note back," Harry replied.

"I don't want to! And you can't make me," the blonde pouted. Harry could easily envision Draco as a young child, using this method to get his own way.

"Draco, I know that he might not have made the best choices ...." Severus began.

"Not always made the best choices .... he tried to make me a death eater against my will! He kidnapped me and brought me to Voldemort's lair!"

"Draco, those were very different times. He was under great pressure," Severus tried to explain.

"So you're trying to make excuses for your ex-lover," Malfoy drawled.

"I can see that discussing this in a mature manner at present is a momentous waste of my time. If you decide that you would like to have a mature conversation, you know where you can find me." Severus turned on his heel and exited the room.

"Draco. He was only trying to help."

Father,

It has come to my attention that you would like to speak with me. I will allow a brief, 10 minute meeting, in a neutral setting. Please note that for my safety ... and yours, I will have two powerful wizards in attendance.

Sincerely,

Draco

"There, are you happy," Draco said to Snape and Potter in a huff.

"I hardly think having the Spanish Inquisition is necessary, Draco," the elder Malfoy stated.

Severus Snape and Harry Potter stood behind Draco, flanking him on each side. "I hold the council of these men in the highest regard Mr. Malfoy."

Lucius' eyes lifted to meet the cold, harsh stare of his only son. "Mr. Malfoy," his face grinning tightly, "How very formal. There was a time where you fondly called me father."

"There was a time where you would have chosen your family over your relationship with an insane mad man," the Malfoy heir responded curtly, his face tight and controlled. Both Draco's enforcer, Potter and his consigliere, Snape tightened their grip on their wands. "And may I remind you, of the 10 minutes allotted for this meeting, you have 6 remaining. I do recommend you get to your point instead of drolling on and on."

"Yes," the senior Malfoy cleared his throat, disappointment and a tinge of anger evident in his tone. "I would hate to impose on you a single moment more then necessary. Draco, I know that I have not always made the best choices, but please know that what I have done, I have only done for you."

"Oh, so leaving mother alone for weeks on end, missing half of my childhood, forcing ... kidnapping me and taking me to Voldemort...that was all for me." Draco rose out of his seat, "With family like that, who needs enemies." Draco slammed his napkin on the table, then exited abruptly.

"Draco ... wait up," Harry chased after him.

"Lucius, I don't know what you thought you'd accomplish with this meeting, but it is evident that you did not," Snape looked apologetic, yet protective.

"Severus, I beg you, please give this note to Draco after he has processed this failed attempt at reconciliation. I have made many mistakes in life. My relationship with Draco was one," Lucius looked crestfallen, "My relationship with you was the other."

Severus' eyes lifted to Lucius'. "I'll give him the letter." The headmaster took the parchment then exited.
