Chapter Fourteen
July 25, 2012

Potter Residence, Hogsmeade

It was a bright shiny day at the Potter home. The post had come, and with it brought James' first Hogwarts letter. "It came! It came! It came!" he shouted waving it in the air as he ran to his mum. "Mum, it came, my Hogwarts letter!" he shouted launching himself onto the couch next to his mother.

"That's wonderful, James," she said.

"Can we got to Diagon Alley instead of going into town?" he asked.

"We'll have to see what your father thinks," Hermione said as she opened the letter for her son. "Go ahead and read it." James took the letter, and began reading.

"Dear Mr. Potter, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizadry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equpiment. Term begins September elventh." James had a big grin on his face as he looked through his letter to find his list of things he needed as a first year. "Can we go today, Mum?"

"Not today," Hermione said. James pouted. "James Edward Potter, do not pout like that," she said, "That only works on your grandmother." The eleven year old chuckled.

"Do you think Dad will let me have Hedwig?" James asked.

"Honey, Hedwig's the family owl," Hermione told her son, "If you want a pet, you can take Crookshanks," she said.

"But he's old. Can I buy a new pet with my allowance?"

"No." Just then the floo came to life, and Harry stepped out.

"Dad, my Hogwarts letter came!"

"James, lower your voice. Your brother is still taking a nap," Hermione scolded.

"Sorry, Mum," James said as Harry took his son's letter. "Can we go to Diagon Alley?"

"What did your Mum say?" Harry asked.

"She told me to ask you," James said, "Can I buy a new pet with my money?"

"No," Harry said causing James to groan in despair. Struck out with both parents. Maybe he could try with his grandparents. Or his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Severus. Harry saw the mischevious look in his son's eyes, and knew immediately what he was plotting. "And don't go bribbing your grandparents or your Aunt Petunia for that matter."

"What about Uncle Severus?" James asked.

"Especially your Uncle Severus, and don't call him that," Harry said.

"Why not?" James asked, "He married Aunt Petunia."

"Your son has a point, Harry," Hermione said. Harry sighed out as he looked over the letter. Much to his dismay, Snape did end up marrying his Aunt Petunia, making him related to his former potions professor now co worker.

"Please, dear, I'm still having nightmares of the two of them together."

"Ew," Hermione cringed.

"My point exactly."

"So, when can we go to Diagon Alley?" James asked.

"We can go tomorrow," his mother said.

"Okay," the eleven year old said before running up to his room.

Before I go any further, I think it's wise to tell you what has been going on in the Potter household. The twins first night was not an easy one. First Celeste would wake up, then Cedric. Never at the same time. The two share a room with a bunk bed, though Hermione and Harry believe they'll want their own rooms when they get older. About five years went by with raising and parenting four children, being homeschooled by their mother.

Then, another little Potter made his entrance into the world on Valentine's Day in 2009. Harry James Potter, Jr. was born in the wee hours of the morning. He was an exact replica of his father, right down to the green eyes and messy black hair. Aunt Petunia and Snape did eventually get married, and by some miraculous event, Snape was allowed to breed because on April 15, 2006, Petunia delivered a healthy baby boy by way of cesarion. He was named Xander Tobias Snape. Snape and Petunia breeding, uh, moving on.

The Next Day .....

As soon as the brick wall was clear, James grabbed his mother's hand, and led her straight to the pet store. Apparently James' grandparents, the Granger side, fell for their grandson's big puppy dog eyes. They decided to give him money so he could buy a pet for school, and convinced Harry and Hermione to let him pick something not too dangerous at the pet store. At first James wanted a snake, but Harry and Hermione drew the line at reptiles. James then headed to the cats and kittens, and found a cute little half kneazle, half domestic kitten in the corner. He gently picked her up, and carried her over to his mother. "Mummy, I like this kitten."

"Kittens are very hard to take care of, Honey," Hermione said

"I'll take real good care of her, please?" he asked. Not wanting her son to be sad the rest of the shopping trip, Hermione agreed, and James hurried to the counter to pay for his new pet. He got her a carrier, and treats before they left the store. They headed to the Apothecary to get James first year potion starter kit, and then got his quills, ink, parchment, his school robes and finally they stopped at Flourish & Blotts for his books. James had already picked out DADA as his favorite class. His dad teaches that class. Of course, he had to give Potions a try since Uncle Severus taught that subject.

Harry and Hermione led their son to Ollivander's Wand Shop to get the last item on the list. They opened the door to find Draco Malfoy and his son, Alexander, getting a wand. "Well, well, if it isn't Potter and his little Mudblood mistress," Draco said.

"Stop it, Malfoy," Harry said, "That was a long time ago."

"Oh, I'm sorry it offended you. I mean, you did take what was rightfully mine." Harry walked to Malfoy's face, and stared him down.

"Hermione was never yours to begin with," he said in a low voice. "So I suggest you drop that subject in front of my son."

"How dare you talk to my father that way!" Harry looked down to look at Malfoy's son who was a spitting image of Draco, except for Pansy's blue eyes.

"Didn't know you had a son," he said.

"Pansy and I were secretly married before the law came out."

"And yet, you still tried to take Hermione from me?"

"Alexander, it's time to go," Draco said.

"What about my wand?"

"We'll get it somewhere else," Draco said before bodily removing his son from the store. Harry let out a sigh of relief as Mr. Ollivander came out of the back room with a wand.

"Oh, I guess Mr. Malfoy will not be needing this then," he said before putting the wand down. He looked to see Harry standing with his son, James. "Ah, young James' first year at Hogwarts already?"

"It is," Harry said.

"I have just the thing," Ollivander said before going off into the back of the shop. He came out of the back with what looked like a brand new box. "I had this wand sepcially made for your son, Mr. Potter," he said opening the box.

"You did?" Harry asked.

"This wand is a holly wand with a phoenix tail feather."

"I thought Fawkes only gave two out," Hermione said.

"I convinced him to give just this one out, and if this wand does not accept your son, then I will keep it for when your other children come for their wands."

"And if it doesn't accept them?" Harry asked.

"Then I'll just have to wait for your grandchildren," Ollivander said. Harry and Hermione chuckled as Ollivander handed the wand to James who took it with a nervous grasp. Nothing seemed to happen, and Hermione encouraged James to give the wand a wave. He did, which resulted in the shelves flying out of their places. "Well, perhaps we'll have better luck with your daughter in the coming years." The older wizard took the wand from James, and put it back into the box. "Don't worry, I have others in mind for him." It took only two more tries before finding the wand for James. An holly wand with a dragon heartstring core. With the wand paid for, the family left for home.

Platform 9 3/4 was busier than ever. Even though James lived in Hogsmeade, Hermione and Harry wanted him to expiereance the whole trip to Hogwarts. They got James's things taken care of including his new cat which he named Nimbus. Hermione held onto her son for the longest time as Harry stood by with Lily, Celeste, Cedric and Harry, Jr. "Hermione, honey, James has to board the train," he said, "Besides, I'll keep an eye on him." Hermione let go of her son, and stood up. Harry handed three year old Harry, Jr. to his mother, and gave his eldest son a hug. "I'll see you at school. You have any problems you come see me, okay?"

"Okay, Dad." James picked up his bag, and found his friend, Ronald Jr. in the crowd. "I'll see you at Christmas, Mom, or a weekend. Which ever one comes first." Hermione chuckled as he and Ron Jr. got onto the train. She let out a huge sigh as the train pulled away from the station carrying the next generation of the Potter family to his first year at Hogwarts. Hopefully it wouldn't be like that of his father's.
