Ten Years

Disclaimer: I by no mean own the Harry Potter characters. I wish I did.

Summary: It’s been ten years since Hermione, Harry and the other have graduated from Hogwarts and defeated Voldemort. Hermione returns to her ten year reunion and finds that most things have changed, but one thing has stayed the same. What will happen? R/R


Ten Years- Part 13

The students at Hogwarts returned home and it was only the faculty, Sirius, Hermione, Draco and Lavender. Hermione was still worried about the letters, the card and now the murder of Kelly.

“Hermione, are you okay?” Lavender asked as she and Hermione sat at the pier.

“No. Whoever this person is, is crazy. We have no idea who it could be either.” Hermione answered.

“Don’t worry. Look, as soon as Draco and Shacklebolt say it’s okay, you and Severus are returning to Naples. Then you and Severus can start planning your wedding.” Lavender said.

“I know, but how can I relax? I mean, if this person is following me, how do I know he doesn’t know where I live?” Hermione asked.

“Look, Severus won’t let anything happen to you. You know that and so do I.” Lavender replied.

Hermione sighed. She and Severus had both made up a grudge list from the past ten years. Top of Severus’s list of course was Harry. It had been kind of hard for Hermione to make a list, but she did put Harry down. Especially after the fight they had at the reunion the year before.

“Come on, let’s get back inside before they send a search party out after us.” Lavender said.

The two made their way inside and parted ways. Hermione returned to Severus’s chambers. There were trunks everywhere. All of, or most of his books had been packed up as well as some of his personal things.

“I’m sorry Severus, we haven’t found anything yet. It’s almost as if he’s disappeared.” Draco said, just as Hermione entered the room.

“That’s fucking impossible! He’s out there! I know it’s him doing this!” Severus yelled.

“What the hell is all the shouting about?” Hermione asked as she stood at the door.

“Severus is trying to give himself a heart attack.” Draco answered.

“I’m serious Draco.” Hermione said.

“Fine. I went to try and find Potter. He’s gone. We can’t find him anywhere.” Draco answered.

“This isn’t good.” Hermione said.

“What do you mean?” Severus asked.

“Severus, during our last year Harry began to study on his own. He learned things that they don’t teach unless you’re going to become an Aurora. He mastered them within two months. His best skill was to seemingly disappear.” Hermione answered.

“This is bad. Especially if it is Potter who’s doing this. Are you sure he has no Idea where you live?” Draco asked.

“Just that I live in Italy. I don’t even know my own neighbors because I’m in and out so much.” Hermione answered.

“What do we do then? Hide under a rock or something?” Severus demanded.

“No. Look, once Kingsley gets back he will tell you if it’s safe or not to return to your flat. If not, then we’ll have to find somewhere that is safe, but also allows Hermione to work.” Draco explained.

Severus turned and stormed off to the bedroom, slamming the door behind him. Hermione and Draco sighed. They knew how frustrated he was. Draco simply nodded his head, got to his feet and walked out of the room. Hermione took a calming breath and followed her irate fiancee.

“Severus?” Hermione said.

“What!” Severus yelled.

“Hey! Don’t forget who the hell you’re yelling at! Just because you’re frustrated that no one can find Harry, don’t you dare take it out on me!” she yelled.

“What the fuck are you going to do about it if I do?” he yelled as he faced her.

“Don’t play this game with me Snape! You’ll lose!” she said.

Severus went for his wand, but Hermione was faster. In a flash Severus was on the floor immobile. She walked over to him and started down at his eyes. Those black eyes stared back at her defiantly. She walked over to the fireplace and quietly called for Sirius and Remus. Two seconds later both wizards walked in.

“What happened? What did you do to Severus?” Sirius asked.

“I did nothing to Severus. This isn’t him.” Hermione answered calmly as she kept her wand on the man on the floor.

“What?” Remus and Sirius asked.

“I knew something was off when he started yelling at me as soon as I entered the room. I think this person is using Poly-Juice potion.” Hermione explained.

“Then where’s Severus?” Remus asked.

“I don’t know, but we need to find out.” Hermione said.

The three moved the imposter to the wall. With a quick wave of her wand, Hermione conjured up shackles from the wall that attached themselves to the man’s wrists and ankles. Holding him in place. She then removed the binding spell. The man began to struggle.

“Where’s Severus?” Remus demanded.

“Go to hell!” the man snarled.

“That’s exactly where you’ll be going in about two seconds if you don’t answer our questions.” Hermione hissed as she pointed her wand at the man’s throat.

“You don’t scare me witch. You’re nothing but a mudblood.” the man said.

“Yeah yeah. I’ve heard this shit before. Now answer my question or I kill you on the spot! Where. Is. Severus!” Hermione yelled.

The man’s face seemed to lose it courage. Hermione pressed her wand tip harder and deeper into the man’s throat. An evil glint was in her eyes and the man knew she meant business.

“He’s…he’s unconscious in the broom closet. On…the first floor.” the man stuttered out.

“Who are you?” Sirius asked.

“Jonathan Masterson.” he answered.

“The Ministry will be happy to take you off our hands. Siri, call the Aurora’s. Once he’s in custody, we’ll go get Severus.” Remus said.

Sirius walked to the fireplace. As Sirius was talking to the Ministry, Hermione got right into Jonathon’s face.

“What did you do to Severus?” she demanded.

“I…I…just hit…him over the head.” Jonathon answered.

“Who sent you?” she asked.

“Harry Potter. Paid…me…15,000 Galleons.” he replied.

Hermione took a step back. The next thing everyone saw was Hermione’s fist slamming into Jonathon’s face. Jonathon’s head hit the stone wall behind him knocking him out. Hermione then turned on her heel and left the room. She quickly made her way to the broom closet. There on the floor was Severus. He slowly sat up as the light from the hall filled the small room.

“Ugh. What happened?” he asked.

“What’s my mother’s maiden name?” Hermione asked.

“What? Hermione it’s me.” Severus said.

“Answer the question.” she said as she pointed her wand at him.

“Your mother’s maiden name is Sheppard.” he answered in a confused voice.

Hermione lowered her wand and ran to him. She threw her arms around his neck. All Severus could do was do the same. He had absolutely no idea what was going on.

“Come on.” she said.

Together they returned to his rooms. They entered just as the Aurora’s were taking Jonathon Masterson away. Severus sat on the couch as Remus ordered some tea from the kitchens.

“Will someone tell me what the hell is going on?” Severus asked.

“What’s the last thing you remember Headmaster Snape?” Asked the Aurora who stayed behind to take statements.

“I was on my way to meet with Draco Malfoy. I thought I heard someone behind me. Before I could turn around something hit me in the back of the head. That’s all I remember.” Severus answered.

“The man we just took away is Jonathon Masterson. Do you know him?” the Aurora asked.

“Yes. He was a Death Eater. A lower level one if I remember correctly.” Severus answered.

“He took the poly-juice potion and impersonated you. Mr. Black and Professor Lupin here said Mistress Granger questioned him. They say that Masterson told her Harry Potter paid him 15,000 Galleons to impersonate you.” the Aurora said.

“Why though?” Sirius asked.

“It’s obvious isn’t it? Look, Harry, or someone wants me for whatever reason. The only way to get to me is through Severus. You take him out of the equation and there you go. But I’m not that easy to get. When you question Masterson, I want to be there.” Hermione demanded.

“Yes ma’am. He will be questioned as soon as I return. If you wish we can go now.” the Aurora said.

Hermione and Severus followed the Aurora to the fireplace. Sirius and Remus would stay behind and tell the others. In a flash of green flames, Hermione, Severus and the Aurora were gone. Hermione and Severus followed as they were led to a holding room. There they found Ron with his dad. Ron had just finished giving Masterson the Veritaserum.

“He should be ready in a second.” Ron said.

Masterson’s eyes became unfocused and his body began to relax. He was ready.

“State your name and occupation.” Ron said.

“Jonathon l. Masterson. I run a shop that deals with Dark Arts in Diagon Alley.” Jonathon said.

“Was it Harry Potter who sent you after Mistress Hermione Granger?” Ron asked.

“Yes.” Jonathon answered.

“Why?” Ron questioned.

“I was paid 15,000 Galleons to take her and bring her back to my house where Potter would get her later.” Jonathon replied.

“Why is Harry Potter after her?” Ron demanded.

“I don’t know. He never said and I never asked.” Jonathon said.

“Where is he now?” Arthur asked.

“I don’t know. He simply flooed me, transferred the gold into my vault and told me to get the girl and take her to my house. Then he would come collect her.” Jonathon said.

“And Headmaster Severus Snape?” Arthur asked.

“I was merely suppose to get him out of the way to get Granger. Nothing else.” Jonathon said.

“I think we’ve heard enough. Take him away. He will be charged in the morning.” Arthur ordered.

“So Potter is behind this. But why?” Severus asked.

“I don’t know Severus. Hermione, Kingsley said your flat is safe and that it would be best if you and Severus head there as soon as possible.” Arthur answered.

Thank you Arthur. We will go back to Hogwarts and prepare to leave for my flat.” Hermione said.

Severus and Hermione said good bye to Ron and Arthur. They returned to Hogwarts. As Severus finished packing Hermione filled Draco, Lavender, Remus and Sirius in on what they found out. After leaving with instructions on how they could contact either herself or Severus, the couple shrank Severus’s belongings, Hermione’s bag and made their way to the gates. From their they apparated to her flat in Naples.

“Welcome home Severus.” Hermione said.

Severus turned and faced her. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her. Both feeling the need to just be in each other’s arms.
