Chapter Fourteen

The following morning, Sirius awoke and smiled when he found himself completely naked and in James' arms. Sirius sighed and snuggled even further up against his boyfriend. He knew he had definitely made the right decision. James was the most amazing lover. He had been so gentle, tender, and loving with Sirius.
Of course, Sirius would never forget what his father had done to him. How could he possibly forget something so horrible? He shuddered at the thought.
James' eyes blinked open, and he realized that his boyfriend was shivering next to him.
"Siri? You okay?" James asked worriedly.
"Yes," came the quiet reply.
"Are you sure?" James questioned hesitantly. "Are you I mean do you regret last night?"
Sirius' eyes widened, and he lifted his head to gaze at his best friend. "No way in hell," he replied softly. He reached down and carefully pushed several unruly strands of raven hair out of James' hazel eyes. "Last night was amazing, James. You're amazing."
"Are you sure?"
Sirius pulled back, his blue eyes showing fear. "Do you regret it?"
James sat up and pulled Sirius into his arms. "Absolutely not. Merlin, it was incredible, Siri. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, love. I don't regret it at all. Like you said, it was amazing."
Sirius smiled into James' shoulder.
"I was just worried that maybe you were erm "
Sirius moved his head so that he was facing James, but he continued to hold onto his lover's body. "I will never forget what happened to me, James. But, in time, I know I'll think about it less and less. I promise you, I'll spend much more time thinking about how wonderful I feel when you make love to me."
James tenderly kissed his boyfriend's forehead. He lay back down on the bed and pulled Sirius on top of him. The two sat in a comfortable silence for a while before Sirius finally spoke.
"James?"
"Hmm?" James mumbled as he ran his fingers through Sirius' long locks.
"I know that I told Madam Pomfrey that I'd talk with you about well about my father."
"You have," James replied quietly. "But you know, you can say as much as you want to. I'm always here to listen to you, love."
"I know," Sirius murmured. "It's just that well, right now, I'd rather not talk about any of it. I'd rather just concentrate on being with you."
"I understand, Siri. I'm not going to make you talk about if you don't want to."
"But Madam Pomfrey made it sound like I had to talk to you about it and-"
James snorted and rolled his eyes. "Maybe. I'm not sure what she really wanted. I'll go talk to her later today or tomorrow, though. Let her know that we talked some, and that you feel comfortable opening up to me. Perhaps that'll keep her off of your case for a while."
p>"Sp>"Sounds good," Sirius said. "I love you, James.""And I love you, Siri," James whispered as he kissed his lover passionately on the lips.

An hour later, the two were still in bed. They had both fallen asleep again, only to wake up half an hour later when they heard two owls hooting outside.
"Maybe they're in love," Sirius said, looking amused.
James snickered. He was standing across the room next to the window. "Should I leave the curtains open?"
"May as well," Sirius said with a yawn. "Guess we can't spend the entire day in bed, huh?"
James kledkled and returned to his position next to his best friend. "Who says we can't?"
Sirius grinned and watched James sit up and prop his back against the headboard of the bed.
"What do you think you want to be or do after school?" James asked curiously.
Sirius shrugged his shoulders. "I really have no idea. What am I good at, anyway?"
"Lots of things," James replied adamantly. "There are so many things you do well, love."
"Like what?" Sirius asked curiously.
James looked thoughtful for a moment. "You're extremely smart, even though you don't always like to believe you are. You can always continue with school or-"
Sirius snorted.
James glared at his lover and finished speaking. "-become a professor. Of course, you're more likely to teach pranks than actual classes, so maybe that wouldn't work out after all," James said jokingly.
Sirius rolled his eyes. "I could say the same thing to you, James."
"Indeed you could. Siri, you'd be an amazing auror. You're strong, clever, and smart. You'd be perfect for that job, you know."
"You'd be better at it, though," Sirius replied honestly.
"Thanks, but I don't agree with you. You're talented in so many non-magical ways, too, Siri. You love to draw."
"Yeah, but I'm not that good at it, James."
"I think you are, love." James pressed a small kiss on Sirius' forehead. "Whatever you decide to do, you'll be wonderful at it."
"I think we should be professional pranksters," Sirius mused.
James' eyes glittered and then he started laughing.

Over the next few weeks, Sirius and James grew even closer to each other. They spent every night together, usually making love, cuddling, or talking before falling asleep.
On and off, Sirius felt the need to talk about his terrifying past, and James was always there to listen to his boyfriend and comfort him. The thought of his father still haunted Sirius, but James was helping immensely.
Whenever Sirius had a nightmare, James was there to hold him when he awoke. As the days passed, however, Sirius had fewer and fewer nightmares about his father.
James couldn't help but love Sirius even more than before. He desperately wanted to ask Sirius to marry him-he wanted to spend his entire life with the man he loved. But was it too soon to ask?
