Gilderoy's Conquests
Statement of the Verdict
Statement of the Verdict
No evidence has been found to suggest that the foregoing memories have been tampered with. While it is possible that Lockhart has committed other acts of sexual abuse against children, no other such memories were recovered, which may suggest that Lockhart's motivation in taking the position of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (a position that is generally considered to be cursed) was primarily for the ready access to young schoolgirls. His procurement of Liquid Lust is an indication that his crimes were absolutely premeditated, and in none of these memories does he show any remorse for the acts he commits, and the effects they have on the children he's victimized.
Seeing as Gilderoy Lockhart had us all deceived about his accomplishments, I don't think there is any blame to be placed on Hogwarts for allowing Lockhart access to the children he molested and sexually abused. I don't think anyone had the slightest clue what he was really getting up to during his time at Hogwarts, and so the blame can be placed squarely on his shoulders.
And because the scandal of Lockhart's crimes would destroy Hogwarts' reputation utterly, I suggest that the public details of this case be limited to just the most essential facts.
The official verdict of the court is unanimous. The defendant, Gilderoy Lockhart, has been found guilty of all charges brought against him. They are as follows:
1 count of possession of a restricted substance
38 counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child
1 count of sexual battery of a child
1 count of corrupting a minor
1 count of statutory rape
40 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child
10 counts of possession of child pornography
It is this court's decree that Gilderoy Lockhart be removed immediately from his residence at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries and be relocated to Azkaban Prison, where he shall serve a whole life order.
