Chapter 13

As always, thanks for your reviews! :)

Black Padfoot: I really don't want to be classified as a "cruel" author, but sometimes you can't control what your characters say and do (which I know sounds weird, considering I write them). All I ask is that you don't hate me and you will continue reading my story. There will definitely be some ups and downs. HAHA I know! I was so jealous of Hermione. Lucky girl!! :)

SP777: haha Yes, it's definitely not a situation you want to be caught in, unless you like that sort of thing. :) I'm glad you liked that scene. If only we could see it for real. lol Yeah, I'm glad they all know the truth now, too. To answer your question, the story's tone will change, but not so much because of the search. I wish I could say more, but I can't. You'll see what I mean later. :)

harrydraco4life: LOL Now THAT would be funny (and a huge shock). But sadly, that won't be the case. But I do hope you will continue reading! :)

Lucas: Thank you so much for the wonderful comment. :) I'm so glad you're enjoying my story. Here's the next chapter! Hope you will continue to enjoy it. Mmm yes...I simply love those two boys. :)

Harry was on his stomach, with his arm loosely draped across his lover’s chest, while they slept. He woke up with a yawn, as he opened his eyes. He felt something underneath his arm and turned to his side, smiling at the sleeping form next to him.

He gave another yawn, before nuzzling closer to Draco’s naked body. He stared at him, his heart melting from the sight of his beautiful boyfriend sleeping so peacefully. He lowered his eyes to his mouth and smiled, mesmerized by how soft and plump Draco’s lips looked.

He softly moved his hand over Draco’s chest, suddenly stopping and looking down when he felt something a bit different. His face contorted, as he looked down at a large disfigurement running from Draco’s left shoulder all the way down to his right hip. He rubbed his eyes firmly, believing it was an allusion.

As he stared back down at Draco’s chest, the scar remained. He suddenly became very angry and protective, wondering who had possibly done that to him. He couldn’t believe he had never noticed the scar until now. He moved his hand along the wound, not letting his eyes wander away from it.

Draco slowly opened his eyes, when he felt Harry’s hand running across his chest. He noticed the boy’s admiration of his chest and took a deep breath, realizing he had finally found the one thing he desperately tried to keep hidden, especially from him. “Shit,” he softly cursed.

Harry jumped in surprise, when he heard Draco’s voice. He quickly looked up at him, eyebrows furrowed. “Who did this to you?” he furiously asked, as he pointed to the scar.

Draco sighed and shook his head, “Don’t worry about it.”

“What are you talking about? How can I not worry about it?” he snapped. “When did this even happen? How come I’ve never seen it before?”

Draco released another breath, as he slowly sat up, resting his back on the headboard of his bed. Harry still had his hand resting on his chest, as he sadly looked into his eyes. Draco placed his hand over Harry’s, moving it away from his chest, trying hard to ignore Harry’s questioning eyes.

“Draco, please,” Harry begged, needing to know what happened.

Draco frowned, knowing that Harry would not be happy until he was told the truth. “It’s from last year,” he reluctantly began, a bit nervous. “Snape taught me a glamour spell. It only lasts twenty-four hours, so every morning I have to recast it.”

“But where did it come from? Who or what did this to you?” Harry anxiously asked.

Draco glanced toward his window, pretending he didn’t hear the question. “I’m hungry. How about you?” he suddenly said, turning back toward him.

Harry glared at him. “Why are you dodging my questions?”

“Because it’s not important,” he argued, as he stepped out of his bed. “I’ll recast the spell and we’ll just pretend you never saw it.”

“Draco!” Harry exclaimed. “You have a huge scar running across your chest. How is that not important?”

“Could you please just leave it alone?” Draco begged, feeling his lower lip quiver a bit, as he held his wand tightly in his hand.

Harry saw the pain in Draco’s eyes and became even more worried. He quickly stood up from the bed and walked closer to him. He rubbed his hands up and down his lover’s arms to soothe him a bit.

Draco’s body relaxed, as he stared lovingly into Harry’s eyes. He took a deep breath, before speaking in a rather shaky voice, “I never wanted you to see this.”

Harry sighed. “Did you think it would turn me away from you or something?”

Draco shrugged, as he glanced away. “Possibly,” he sheepishly responded.

“Do you really think I’m that shallow?” he snapped, causing Draco to quickly look over at him and shake his head.

“No, of course not. I don’t think that at all about you,” he quickly answered.

“Then why are you hiding it?”

“Well, maybe you don’t care much about scars,” Draco said, as he moved his finger over the lightning bolt on his boyfriend’s forehead, “but I do. I have a certain image to keep, you know.”

Harry glared at him, believing there was still something he wasn’t telling him about the scar, but decided to let it go for now. “Fine, then at least stop concealing it from me,” he countered.

“Harry, I don’t want-”

“Draco, stop,” Harry butted in, as he swept a few of Draco’s loose strands of hair away from his face. “There is nothing to be ashamed of, okay? Please don’t hide yourself away from me. I love you the way you are. You are the most beautiful person I know, scar and all.”

Draco sniffed, while his eyes watered with tears. “Thank you, Harry,” he blushed.

Harry leaned in and kissed him lightly on his lips. “You are always welcome, love,” he smiled, as he wiped his tears away. “Now get back to bed,” he commanded, playfully wriggling his eyebrows.

Draco hesitated, as he looked down at his wand that he was still holding. There was still a part of him that knew it best to hide the scar. He knew it would only be a matter of time before Harry would eventually find out. He figured if it were hidden, the questions would soon be forgotten and he would never have to let him know the truth.

Harry placed his hand over Draco’s hand that still held his wand. He could tell he was still thinking about covering it up. He shook his head, as he stared lovingly into his eyes. “Don’t,” he softly spoke, as he moved his hand further down, able to release the wand from his grasp.

Draco sighed, when the wand left his hand. He bit his lower lip in nervousness, as he watched Harry’s gaze return to his scar.

Thankfully, Harry’s eyes held no more questions. They were suddenly filled with arousal, instead of curiosity. He gently moved his hand over the scar, licking his lips. He soon smiled into Draco’s eyes, letting him know he was not repulsed in the slightest. He returned to the scar, as he slowly leaned in, softly placing kisses along the wound.

Draco moaned, as Harry continued kissing down his chest. He could feel his cock strengthen from the action. “Harry,” he moaned again, pushing his body closer to him.

Harry smiled, as he traced the scar with his tongue upwards. He felt Draco’s body shiver with pleasure and knew he was very aroused. He placed his hands on his shoulders and pushed him toward the bed.

Draco lay down first, with Harry above him, moving his hands along his sides. Draco soon began kneading Harry’s back, while pushing him closer to his chest, wanting to close any gap they may have had.

“You know, I still sometimes can’t believe you and I found each other,” Harry murmured, as he nibbled on Draco’s ear. “Who knew that behind all that hate, there was love?”

Draco started kissing Harry’s neck, digging his nails a little deeper in his back. “We really did hate each other, didn’t we?”

Harry chuckled, suddenly remembering all their fights they had throughout the years. “I think last year was probably our most brutal year,” he recognized. “Remember when you bashed in my face on the train?”

Draco froze a little, as Harry started to reminisce about last year, scared that he was finally going to put two and two together.

Harry noticed his body had tensed after he said that and stopped kissing him, as he looked into his eyes. “Sorry,” he apologized, believing he was somehow killing the mood. “I didn’t mean to bring up old stuff.”

Draco tried to smile, but sadly he couldn’t. “That was our life, Harry,” he explained. “There are times when I wish we could erase those moments, but then I think that this,” he said, pointing to himself and then Harry, “may never have happened, if we didn’t have that type of past.”

“Makes you wonder, that’s for sure,” Harry nodded.

He ran his hand through Draco’s smooth locks, letting his eyes fall to his chest once more. He smiled, as more memories began to fill his mind. The scar somehow became a trigger to their past, reminding him of all the bruises over the years they had caused on one another. Suddenly, the smile faded, as his eyes grew wide and his face paled. His body trembled, as he stared shamefully at his boyfriend. “It was me,” he softly declared.

Draco frowned, knowing he had finally figured it out. This was exactly why he wanted to keep it hidden. He never wanted Harry to feel guilt-stricken about what he had done, especially when he only did it in self-defense.

“No wonder you wanted to hide it,” Harry angrily continued, as he grazed his hand over the boy’s scar. “It’s just a constant bloody reminder of what I did to you. Damn it, how can you look at me right now? I mean fuck, Draco, how can you even want to be with me?”

Draco quickly wrapped his arms around Harry, feeling his body shake in fury. “Harry Potter, you listen to me right now,” he sternly voiced. “I love you. What happened was an accident. You didn’t do it on purpose.”

Harry shook his head, as he began to cry. “No, it’s my fault. I should never have used that curse on you. It’s my fault. My fault,” he mumbled, as he buried his head on Draco’s chest.

Draco rubbed Harry’s back to comfort him. He could still feel Harry’s body shaking from his cries. He ran his hand through his raven hair, as he tried hushing him. “Oh please, love, don’t cry,” he whispered, feeling his own eyes begin to tear again. He truly hated seeing him in so much pain.

*****

Ron was sitting in the grass near the Black Lake, lovingly gliding his hand through Luna’s soft, blonde hair. She smiled at his loving touch, as she stared out across the lake.

“I’m really going to miss you when I’m gone,” he sighed.

She nodded, not ready to speak just yet. Thoughts of him leaving in a few days were moving rapidly through her mind and she really wasn’t ready to deal with it all quite yet.

“I would tell you I’d write every day, but I don’t want to make promises that I may not be able to keep,” he continued.

She nodded again, as some tears started to form in her eyes. “Just promise you’ll stay away from the Snuggleporks,” she whispered.

He chuckled to himself, wondering where she came up with this stuff. “I promise, love,” he smiled, as he touched her chin, turning her to face him. “Promise never to forget me?”

She smiled, as she leaned over and gave him a kiss. “I will never forget you, Ronald,” she answered.

He smiled when she said his whole name. He used to hate when people called him that, but with her it was different. His name just rolled off her tongue so beautifully that he loved when she said it.

They began to kiss again, unaware of a certain girl walking toward their direction. After a few more minutes, they suddenly heard someone clear their throat, causing them to stop and look up.

“Sorry to interrupt,” Hermione sheepishly responded.

Luna gave her a wide smile, while shaking her head and standing up. “That’s okay, Hermione. I have some homework I need to do anyway,” she answered. “Bye.”

Ron watched her walk away, before returning his attention back to Hermione. “Sorry you had to see that,” he sighed. “I really have been trying not to throw it in your face.”

She smiled, finally realizing why he hadn’t been hanging around so much. It wasn’t because he was trying to ignore her; he was trying to respect her by not flaunting his new love around. “Ron, that is very sweet of you,” she began, “but I don’t want you to ever hide your feelings from me.”

“I’ll try,” he blushed, “but I know it’s got to be hard for you. Perhaps if you had a boyfriend or something, it wouldn’t be this difficult.”

Hermione chewed on her bottom lip, knowing this was finally it. “Ron, can we talk for a minute?” she asked.

He nodded, as he patted the spot next to him. Hermione took a deep breath, before sitting down and staring out across the lake. “I’ve been wanting to tell you something for a while now,” she started, “and since you’re leaving in a few days, I think it’s about time I do just that.”

He furrowed his eyebrows. “What’s going on, Hermione?”

“Ron, I actually do have a boyfriend,” she quickly replied, turning toward him.

His face suddenly lit up, happy to know she had found somebody new to love. “That’s great, Hermione,” he expressed. “So who’s the lucky guy? Do I know him?”

She stared down at the ground, where she began pulling on some grass blades. “Yes, you sort of know him,” she mumbled.

He nodded, as he began to think of the boys in their year. “Which house? Gryffindor?”

She shook her head, a bit apprehensive to continue. “No, not Gryffindor. I’ll give you a hint though,” she paused, taking a deep breath. “He’s close friends with somebody you particularly don’t like that much.”

Ron rolled his eyes, realizing that wasn’t much help. “Hmm, well, that only narrows it down to just the entire Slytherin house,” he commented. “And anyone friends with that idiot McLaggen.”

“Well, you’re close,” she hesitated.

“Come on, Hermione,” he sighed. “Just tell me. You’re a smart girl, and I know you wouldn’t make any rash decision, like dating Malfoy or something,” he shuddered at the thought. “Ugh, could you imagine dating that ferret?”

“Well, it’s definitely not Malfoy,” she gulped, realizing how difficult it was going to be for Harry when it was his turn to talk to Ron.

“So then tell me,” he coaxed her, playfully jabbing her shoulder.

She looked over at him, while chewing nervously on her lower lip. “I’ve been seeing Blaise Zabini,” she finally said.

Ron’s eyes opened wide, as his jaw dropped. He couldn’t believe what he just heard. How could that even be possible? He thought she was much smarter than that. How could she date a Slytherin, or worse, a friend of Malfoy’s?

She watched his face suddenly redden in anger. She cringed a little, knowing a scream was about to come out at any moment from his mouth.

“Are you fucking mad?” he exclaimed, while standing up. “Zabini? He’s a bloody Slytherin, Hermione, and Malfoy’s best mate! You might as well just date Malfoy! I mean they’re both the same anyway!”

“Ron, please,” she pleaded, as she stood up as well. She tried to reach out to touch him, but he jerked away, staring angrily at her.

“And here I thought you were smart,” he spat, turning away from her and walking back to the castle.

“Ron!” she called out, as she began to follow.

“Don’t even think about trying to follow me!” he yelled back, as he continued walking away.

She stood frozen in her spot, not wanting to move. Of course she had expected this reaction from him, but it still hurt nonetheless. All she could hope now was that he would take some time to process all of it and then allow her to explain herself later. At least she finally told him the truth.

Draco gave Harry a quick kiss, as he wiped the last of his tears away. “Better?” he asked, before seeing Harry nod. “Good,” he smiled.

They had just finished talking about what had happened last year in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom. Harry was feeling really guilty about using Sectumsempra, but Draco explained to him that it was all in self-defense, considering he was about to use the Cruciatus curse on him.

In a way, Draco was more appreciative than upset about the outcome. He believed that if he did cast that spell, then he would not be the person he was today. He shuddered to think what his father would’ve done if he found out his own son had actually performed two Unforgivables, already having done the Imperius curse.

“So I guess the dittany didn’t work,” Harry sighed, remembering when Snape mentioned they had to use it immediately to avoid scarring.

“It did for the other wounds,” Draco replied. “It was just my chest they couldn’t get to in time, which I didn’t mind so much. I really wanted them to heal my face first.”

Harry nodded, as he admired the boy’s face. “It is a nice face, I must admit,” he then smiled.

Draco returned the smile, as he pressed his lips on Harry’s. After a few more minutes, he backed away from his boyfriend and stood up, walking toward his dresser across the room. He opened one of the drawers and began searching for something.

“What are you looking for?” Harry questioned.

Draco took a deep breath, when his hand suddenly wrapped around it. He stared at it for a few seconds and then nodded, finally making up his decision. He turned back around, holding it behind his back, feeling very nervous.

Harry furrowed his eyebrows, sensing his boyfriend’s anxiety. “Are you okay?” he worriedly asked.

Draco nodded, as he moved toward the bed, standing in front of him, with his hand still behind his back. “Harry, since you’re leaving in a few days,” he began, “there’s something I really want to give you before you go.”

Harry became nervous himself, noticing Draco’s hand behind his back. He bit on his lower lip, not sure what to expect. “What is it?” he wondered.

Draco smiled, as he moved his hand to the front, which held a small box. Harry’s eyes opened wide in astonishment, when Draco opened the box.

“Um, Draco?” Harry nervously gulped, as he stared down at the silver ring inside.

“It’s a promise ring,” Draco explained, seeing Harry’s questioning eyes stare up at him. “It’s a promise to let you know I will always be with you. No matter how far you go, no matter how long you’re gone, it’s a promise that I will never leave you, or forget you.”

Harry smiled, as he raised himself up on his knees and leaned over, giving Draco a long, deep kiss, before pulling away. “I love it, Draco,” he said, as he took it out of the box and slipped it on his finger. “I will never take it off.”

Draco took a deep breath, while he stared at the ring on his boyfriend’s finger. He then looked into his eyes and smiled. “You really are my everything.”

“As are you,” Harry reminded him, as he captured his lips with his own and pulled him down onto the bed with him.
