Ron avoided his family for nearly two days after Severus confronted him. He didn't want to face them. It was just too embarrassing. He knew what he did was wrong and he felt ashamed of himself.
He wanted to apologize to Hermione but he couldn't do it. He wanted to explain the situation to his confused family but he couldn't. The confused red head retreated to his room and stayed there. His time of hiding was over when he heard someone knocking at his bedroom door.
When he heard the knocking he was lying on his bed staring up at the ceiling trying to get his mind straight.
"Go away," he said not caring who it was.
"It's your mother," Molly said. "I want to speak to you."
Ron knew there was no way he could push his mother away. She wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Come in," he said rolling to face away from the door.
The door opened and his mother walked in. She didn't say a word as she walked over to the bed and sat down. She knew her son would speak to her if she didn't press the issue.
"I did something wrong," Ron explained.
"I gathered that," Molly said rubbing his back. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"It's a long story," he said trying to avoid the subject.
"I have all day," she said. "I want to know what is bothering you."
"Hermione is pregnant," Ron explained. "She told me about it earlier this month."
"And the baby isn't yours?" Molly questioned in a surprised voice.
"You heard the argument yesterday, he said rolling over to look at her. "You know it isn't mine."
"I couldn't hear it very well," his mother said. "Severus was speaking too lightly."
"She had sex with him," Ron explained in a shaky voice. "The night of the victory party they both got drunk and they had sex. She is going to have a set of twins. His babies. I can't stand the idea."
Molly looked at him with a very surprised face. She couldn't belive what she was hearing. It was unlike Hermione to drink.
"And what did you do wrong?" she asked.
"I went to see her," he said. "I just wanted to talk to her but things got out of hand. I hurt her. She could have lost the babies."
"Do you want her to lose the babies?" his Mum questioned.
"No," he said shaking his head. "I just hate that I'm not the father. I just can't believe she is with Snape."
"There are some things in this world that are hard to accept," she explained putting a hand on his shoulder. "Sometimes we just have to accept them. I know you still love Hermione. I can see it in your eyes. If you really loved her you'd want her to be happy even if it meant she wasn't with you."
Ron looked away from his mother. He knew she was right. He shouldn't have been so cruel to her.
"You should apologize to her," she said. "Maybe you two can still be friends."
"I doubt she will still want to be friends," he said with a sigh.
"Just talk to her," Molly urged. "You never know."
"I will Mum," Ron said smiling.
"Good boy," she said patting her son's shoulder. "I have to go make lunch but if you want to talk anymore come right down."
Ron nodded and watched as his mother left. He jumped up from his bed and got ready to go see Hermione.
---
Hermione sat in her rooms trying to go over the lesson plans Minvera had given her. The older witch wanted her to know what the lesson plans where in case she had to sub for her.
She wasn't having an easy time focusing on them. Her mind kept jumping to Severus. Even though she had seen him less than an hour ago she still missed him.
The young witch still couldn't believe what was happening to her. She was in love with a man that she had once thought was evil.
She closed the lesson book with a sigh and set it down on the coffee table. Her mind was just too overloaded to comprehend the lesson book. Hermione jumped when she heard someone knocking at the door.
"Who is it?" she asked.
"Ron," a shaky voice said.
Hermione was surprised to hear Ron's voice. She hadn't expected to ever seen him again.
"What do you want?" Hermione snapped.
"I just want to talk," he said.
Hermione didn't want to open the door. She didn't want to see him. Yet, part of her wanted to hear what he had to say.
"Come in," she said.
The door opened and Ron slowly walked in. He had a slightly scared look on his face.
"Snape isn't here is he?" he asked.
"No," she said. "He had to go to London for something. What did you want to talk about?"
Ron didn't say anything as he shut the door. He walked over to the couch and sat down. Hermione just stared at him as she waited for him to speak.
"I'm sorry for what I did," he said finally. "I didn't want to hurt you. I never meant to hurt you. I know that there isn't an excuse for what I did."
"Why were you so rough?" Hermione said tears on the edge of her eyes. "Did you want me to lose my babies?"
"No," he said. "I didn't mean to throw you that hard. I was being selfish. I wasn't thinking of you. I was only thinking of how jealous I was. I don't want to destroy our friendship over this. If you're happy with Snape then I just have to except that and be happy for you."
"Thank you Ron," she said hugging him. "I'm so glad to hear that."
Ron was surprised by the hug. He had expected Hermione to just yell at him and throw him out. After a long moment Hermione pulled away from him.
"I'm so glad that we can still be friends because my wedding wouldn't be complete without you," Hermione explained.
"Wedding?" Ron asked in a shocked voice. "You two are getting married?"
"Well we haven't decided to yet," she said smiling. "But we are talking about it."
"That's good," the red head said smiling slightly. "I want you to be happy."
Unsure of what to say Hermione just sat there in silence. After a moment Ron broke the silence.
"Well," he said standing up. "I better get out of here. Snape is still pretty mad at me and I don't want him to catch me up here."
"That's probably a good idea," Hermione said chuckling slightly. "I'll have a talk with him."
"It was good to see you," Ron said heading for the door. "Owl me when it's OK for me to come back."
"Sure thing," Hermione said as he ex-boyfriend walked out of the room.
She let out a relieved sigh. She was glad that things had worked out with Ron and she just hoped they would stay worked out.
