Chapter 13

Beautifully Deranged

Chapter 13

The doors spun around him. He had no idea which one led to the entrance was, forgetting in his haste to actually ask the revolving room to give him the right door. So being in a hurry he grabbed a door and went inside.

Wrong room.

This one was filled with hundreds of clocks. One went off and a small phoenix popped out, twittering away. Harry quickly left the room and opened another door.

Wrong room, again.

This one had loads of jars sitting all around. Inside looked like brains, ‘Hope their not human.’ Harry briefly thought before once again going into the revolving room.

Harry could have slapped himself for his stupidity. Of course, he remembered how the revolving room works now that he already wasted time with two incorrect rooms.

“Atrium.” Harry shouted, and the room stopped spinning and Harry went to the door directly in front of him. ‘Dumbledore will surely find me at this rate.’ Harry thought.

After Harry walked through the door he froze…a wand was jabbed into his throat.

“I’ve been expecting you, Mr. Potter.” In Harry’s confusion with the revolving room Dumbledore had somehow passed him while he had been in another room and waited for him to come here.

“Drop the wand Harry. The fight’s over. You’ve lost.” Dumbledore said, wand still at Harry’s throat. \

Now Harry needed to think. ‘Come on Harry, stall! Stall like you’ve never stalled in your entire life! Surely someone has noticed you missing. Fenrir would at the very least. You drop your wand your dead. Buggering hell, I don’t think I’ve ever been so hopeless in my entire life. What would the Dark Lord do in this situation? Remain cool. Okay Harry, just remain cool and detached.’

“Dumbledore, always a pleasure to see you. Still in charge of the Flaming Poultry Club? Not doing to good I hear, numbers seem to be dwindling.”

Harry mentally groaned. ‘Smooth Harry. Real smooth. Why don’t you just egg him on some more?’

“I know what you are trying to do, Harry, and it won’t work. Drop the wand.” Dumbledore stead in his stern Headmaster voice. “I don’t want to hurt you.” He whispered the last part.

Harry chuckled darkly. “You don’t want to hurt me, you say? That explains the wand at my throat.”

Dumbledore sighed. “You’ve backed me into a corner Harry. I don’t want to hurt you, but you are forcing my hand.”

“Right. But, you must remember that you too are forcing mine. I would have never turned out this way if you had only listened to me a year ago. Instead of investigating the death of Cedric you decided to point fingers. You knew that there was a very large possibility of the Dark Lord returning, and you still didn’t believe me. Every year something transpired.

You personally saw the Dark Lord’s spirit leaving Hogwarts in my first year. You knew that he has taken measures to insure his living, proven through his diary in my second year. Then his loyal follower, Pettigrew had no where else to go then the Dark Lord two years ago. So tell me why exactly you didn’t believe me when I said he returned last year.” Harry said faint tears of frustration rolling down his face. He didn’t dare wipe them away though, in case Dumbledore took raising his hand as a threatening gesture. After all this time, he still wondered why he didn’t believe him.

Dumbledore sighed, regret clearly on his face. “I am truly sorry for that, Harry. I should have believed you last year. My old mind allowed me to be deluded by what I wanted to believe, instead of what actually occurred. It was just so much easier to blame you for what happened to Cedric. You were there, and sometimes in competition things go to far. It would have been so easy for you to have accidentally killed Cedric when fighting for the cup. I didn’t want Voldemort to be back, so I made excuses, I allowed you to be blamed for something you didn’t do. I am sorry for that Harry. Can you ever forgive this old man for his mistakes?”

To Dumbledore’s credit he did look remorseful, but sometimes remorse wasn’t enough.

Harry eyed him for a moment before shaking his head. “Not this time.” Dumbledore’s wand was still on him, it never wavered during his speech.

They both turned their head when they heard clapping.

“Wow. That really brought tears to my eyes. How very heart felt Dumbledore. Still up to your old tricks old man? You know, it would look more sincere if you at least lowered your wand in a sense of trust.” Voldemort said in all his glory, pointing his wand at the Headmaster.

Dumbledore frowned. “Tom, I was wondering if you would ever show up. Still using your henchmen to do your dirty work?”

Voldemort scowled. “Don’t call me that! That is no longer my name.”

Dumbledore had the nerve to twinkle at him. “Whether or not you want it to be, it will always be your name, Tom.” Dumbledore than cast a quick Petrificus Totalus on Harry to keep him from doing anything and then aimed his wand at the Dark Lord.

“We finish this.” Voldemort said. “Crucio.”

Harry could hear everything but couldn’t move for the life of him.

Dumbledore dodged then said his own spell. “Flipendo.”

“Furnunculus.”

“Reducto.”

“Tarantallegra.”

The spells went on and on, each advancing in level until Harry couldn’t understand what the spells were, all being superior to his current knowledge. He blue flames from the corner of his eye and then lots of water. He heard shattering of glass and the singing of a phoenix. And then he heard shouts out of nowhere.

“Look it’s him, it’s him. Do you see what I see?” The Aurors had finally arrived along with the Minister of Magic.

Voldemort looked around before apparating to the other side of the room and picking up Harry’s form and apparating away.

Fenrir had finally got out of that damned spinning room of hell and found the atrium just in time to see the Dark Lord scoop up HIS Harry and apparate away.

He saw the light wizards advance on him and took his Lord’s lead and apparated away.

************************************************************************

Short chapter, but I didn’t feel like squeezing the ending in there.

Alright, guess what? Next chapter is the last one. Yep, it all unravels.

And to those who asked this story will end with Fenrir and Harry, BUT if I choose to make a sequel (if I decide to do this it won’t be a long while yet, so don’t hold your breath as I will lose a lot of readers this way) I will make it a Voldemort/Harry as it would take place a few years in the future.

Thanks to reviewers: Mac, Vex, Sirin Black, Kira, Kage, momoko, shadowama, poohbear74, Sonyakorya, Zuka, Takeshi Enkou, BRM, middy-kun, star101, Extraho, celestialuna, hell_on_earth, and amysds.

You’re all awesome and I highly suggest you give yourselves big pats on the back.
