Dinner with Snape
After only three weeks of vigorous training Hermione was almost better than Draco at Karate and faster when running. They also paired up and sparred with other teams in Karate, which they won most of the time. They made a perfect match physically, which made Voldemort even more pleased with Draco’s choice. After a long day of working out at the end of the third week Hermione actually kissed Draco on the cheek before running off to shower. Draco smiled, each day Hermione became more comfortable with him and with his family. Within two weeks of being together everyday the two began fighting like old times again, instead of her just giving way to him in all things. This excited Draco, as it meant that Hermione was getting to be her old self again, throwing off the effects of her captivity. After this display of affection Draco decided that it was time for phase two in his seduction plan.
That night Hermione came down to dinner to find Draco and Snape waiting for her. She was used to eating with Voldemort and Narcissa or Blaise and Ginny, so the new dining partner was discomfiting.
“Good evening Miss Granger. You are looking well.” Snape said with a bow.
“Why thank you Professor. Pardon my rudeness, but what are you doing here this evening?” Hermione responded with a head nod of her own.
“Severus will be training you in magic if you recall Hermione. This will begin tomorrow, so I invited him here to give you an idea of what you will be doing. I will not be able to attend these sessions unfortunately.” Draco responded while holding out a chair for her. Hermione looked alarmed.
“Why not? Where will you be?” She asked sharply.
“I will be on a mission for my Lord for the next week, and then I will be training Ginny as I have been training you.” Draco said, watching her reaction.
“You’ll be gone for a week? Then training Ginny? Shouldn’t Blaise train Ginny, why do you have to?” Hermione looked upset, and he could see a faint trace of jealousy in her eyes about Ginny’s training.
“Blaise and Ginny have been together every day for the past weeks. Ginny has been receiving psychiatric therapy to help her cope with being raped by her own brother, and Blaise has been there every time. Blaise also has responsibilities to fulfill for Lord Voldemort, and to me. I am the best trainer for Ginny, and the one she will be the most comfortable with.” Draco responded, taking a sip of his wine.
“I can understand that I suppose. Will I still be having dinner with you when you return?” Hermione asked.
“Of course. For the week that I am gone my mother will entertain you and Ginny. You will devote your early morning hours to warming up and keeping in shape, and your late morning and afternoon hours to training with Severus. When I return you will train from morning until lunch with me, then from afternoon to dinner with Severus.” Hermione immediately looked relieved. Draco was enormously proud of her. The only signs of jealousy and distress were the questions she asked and the flashing in her eyes. Outwardly she appeared calm and reserved, which is how every pureblood lady should be.
Hermione turned to Snape once she was sure that Ginny wouldn’t be completely alone with Draco.
“So Professor, what should I know before beginning training tomorrow?” She asked politely as the house elves served the main course.
“Well, for the first few days we will be focusing on meditation and ‘soul searching’ methods so you can better understand yourself and your magic. Then once we understand the extraordinary magic you possess we will begin working on figuring out control. After that we will practice its use and strengthen it. By the time your training with me is over you should have complete control of your magic, and it should be very strong. You will continue to exercise meditation and your magical exercises to keep in shape.” Snape replied before taking a bite of his roast chicken.
“Interesting. I suppose I should be ready for very difficult work in the morning.” Hermione replied.
The conversation soon turned to potions and ingredients, and the possibility of Hermione taking her N.E.W.Ts once the war was over. Draco reminded Hermione that she wouldn’t need them, because she already had a job. Hermione disagreed vehemently, arguing that she should set a good example for the next generation and prove her ability to be queen. Snape surprisingly agreed with Hermione and the rest of the dinner was spent trying to convince Draco to take his N.E.W.Ts as well. When dessert was finished Draco excused himself for a meeting with Voldemort, leaving Hermione with Snape so she could be used to his presence before the training.
Secretly Hermione didn't trust Snape at all, and was going along with Draco's trust of her former professor only because she knew her position was still precarious. Draco would have no reason to trust her over Snape, so she needed proof that he was actually loyal to the Order before denouncing him before Voldemort. The Order didn't come to her rescue when she needed it and she didn't want them butting their heads in now. If her plans went well, she would be completely safe from Harry and Ron as well as saving the Wizarding World from a horrible dictatorship. She just needed more time...
